REVIEW: Spalding NBA 54" Portable Angled Basketball Hoop with Polycarbonate Backboard

I just got this hoop an took me less than 2 hours by my self ... it's pretty straight forward when the bolts are pretty much drawn to scale .. you can lay them on the paper an check the size . Few spots that were tricky .. mount the bracket on the top pole 1st for the adjustment handle. Set the rim to 10 ft for the spring . Peel off the backboard before rim an plastic . Keep each section loose until completed then snug up the area everything will fit better that way.

If anybody is planning on getting one of these the assembly part was super easy the only problem was it took a little long to assemble and the screws are super hard to tell which one is which in the book it will tell you bag b2 with number 43 you will have to look at how the book draws out the screw and u will have to tell which screw is which those are my only two problems.btw the number 43 in the book it will tell u a number to represent a certain screw

7:16 the net that it comes with is trash, the ball flys through and slams into the backstop. That's the first thing I did after trying it out a few times. I ordered a thicker longer net so it won't do this but just a piece of advise

I got it for Christmas today I’m going to my dads for a week and when I get back it will be and I’m so so so happy 😁 I think it’s the best basketball hoop in the world! I’m so happy and can’t wait till I come back to my moms so it’s up

I have the same hoop and already looking for another one and that's because it's just way to flimsy and not to mention I just bought a $150 rim to to put on it and it's even more flimsier cause the rim is pretty heavy alone so I'm gonna have to get something more durable and sturdy to support my professional breakaway rim..🤦‍♂️

Just put one of these together this weekend. The spring at the top of the goal that helps control the mechanism is so tight we can not adjust the height of the goal. Any ideas?

Because I am a carpenter I was able to put it together in two 5 hour sessions by myself. I like using water because I move it out of the way frequently. Use sand if you have no intentions of moving it around.

I am kind of confused, I am replacing a older model "Lifetime" brand portable goal due to the back board cracking from uv. It really does sway at all and it has less water in it than this one. I guess we will see, I ordered it from wally world a hour ago. Lets Go Brandon!

It took 4 people 4 hours to put it together, hell naw, I put it together in less than 2 myself, and to make it stationary, placed mine on a concrete slab, drilled holes for 2 eye anchors and strapped it down haven’t had any problems.

I've seen this exact hoop and in 1 year and a half. the whole backboard gets really yellowed out. but it's an okay hoop for beginners.

@@minhalali7172 I've personally not owned this specific model but one of my cousins has it and in the 1 year and half period it got yellowed out. There's no real way of stopping it from getting yellow because it's cheap plexiglass. However, I would recommend a Lifetime Basketball hoop because I've owned one for over 5+ years and the backboard is still looking like brand new

@@minhalali7172 In my area yes it's hot and sunny, but also it's cold at times but I've seen that even with the cold it can actually damage the plexiglass and cause it to break easily.

I had this one and for a few years it falls apart fast the first year we had it the goal fell over 2 times on our car and put dents into the hood over time screws started coming loose the pulley system came apart and the backboard glass lost its adhesive to the frame so it was hard to get a good rebound shot without hitting a dead spot a few years later we had to send it to the dump after it’s rim rusted so much at the weld spot that connects it to its heel and it got bent downward

The polycarbonate backboard becomes brittle and breaks after 1 year. I don't recommend this. Instead look for the acrylic backboard.

Nah you get a acrylic backboard. This backboard is absolute trash. Acrylic is very strong and thick. So the it will laugh at the ball when hit.
