Spalding 54-Inch Acrylic Basketball Hoop 1-Year Review

It's been a year since I installed the Spalding 54" Acrylic Basketball Hoop. It has been a fantastic addition to our driveway, providing hours of fun and entertainment. I demonstrate how to adjust the height of the hoop using the "Accuglide" lift mechanism as well as shoot a few hoops on it to give an idea how it performs.

I have 2 hoops in my backyard. A Spalding 60 inch and a 54 inch. The 60 inch i had it for 3 months and the 54 inch i had it for 3 years. I usually play on the 54 inch a lot more than the 60 inch.

@@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy It’s a nice hoop. I be playing with it everyday and it’s a NBA one too. I had it since 2020. When i first had this hoop i was shooting on this hoop but i never dunked on it though. I never had a problem with this hoop.

What did you use to fill the base? I also see some type of slab on top of the base. Was the filling not heavy enough to keep it from falling forward?

I filled it with "Base Gel" which is this powder that you mix with water inside the base and it absorbs it and forms this heavy gel that is kind of like a mix between using sand and water, so it is heavy like sand but can be removed easily by adding something to it that releases the water from the solution. It also does not turn into ice in freezing temperatures. The concrete slabs I just added to ensure it does not move. Is there a reason why the hoop base is sitting on a concrete slab instead of the actual grass?

It’s actually sitting on a couple of kitchen floor ceramic tiles for leveling purposes.
