Yeah, I was going to say that scene where this version of Professor Utonium was reading a science book/bedtime story was cute, but then I actually have to remember that Buttercup’s life would never have been put in grave danger by the super lice infestation in the first place, if her dad had actually been a good parent and put his foot down by making sure his kindergartner/first grader actually washed her hair, and cut it to a manageable length from the beginning. Even when the reboot tried to make this version of Professor Utonium a good parent, they failed. A lot of fans complained that it was “too harsh” of a punishment for the Professor to kick Buttercup out with nothing for refusing to take a bath for a week or so, til she got to the point where she fell into a septic tank and trailed her stench behind her for miles in “Down ‘n’ Dirty.” Granted, perhaps, he could have tried talking to her a bit more first. However, considering the circumstances of that entire situation in the classic PPG, I don’t think there was much more Professor Utonium could have done to convince Buttercup she had to take a bath in “Down ‘n’ Dirty.” She’s not a normal five year old, who he could have just picked up when she was kicking and screaming in protest against taking a bath to force her to get into the tub. She has superpowers that overpowered the average person. Her dad was the average person. If Blossom and Bubbles tried to intervene, it would have created a bigger fight that was unnecessary. It sucks that she refused to take a bath for that long to the point where she had gotten so dirty that her stench had become unbearable, but I didn’t think the Professor kicking Buttercup out with nothing as a scare tactic to make her desperate enough to cave in and come back home to take a bath was too out of line in “Down ‘n’ Dirty,” considering the circumstances, though I know a lot of fans think it was unfair on his part. It wasn’t a long term or permanent solution meant to get rid of her. It was the best thing he could think of to get his stubbornly rebellious little superpowered tomboy to realize that neglecting to take care of her personal hygiene to make a statement/keep her street cred as “the toughest fighter” was far less important than being able to live a normal life amongst society, and it worked because she caved in and came home to take a bath like a day later, anyway. In this reboot episode “Sugar, Spice, and Super Lice,” Professor Utonium didn’t do anything throughout a *whole year* to discipline Buttercup and/or make her realize that she had to keep her hair clean, so she’s infected with super lice that put her in coma/endanger her life. It’s at least partially his fault as her parent because he saw how dirty and unmanageable her hair was getting throughout the year, yet neglected to do anything to make sure she cleaned it and/or cut it to a more manageable length before she got infected with the super lice that endangered her life. Granted, in real life, it ironically would make MORE SENSE for BLOSSOM to get infected with head lice over Buttercup BECAUSE she keeps her clean, well-groomed, free of dirt, free of grease, and free of oil, which would make it easier for the lice to move around in and attach their eggs/nits to the shafts of the hair. It’s such a common misconception that head lice is a “dirty” person scalp infection. It’s not at all. ANYONE can catch it, particularly kids in K-12th grade, who keep their hair CLEAN, free of grease, free of oil, free of dirt, and well-groomed. I remember my little brothers caught head lice a handful of times between elementary school and high school, and the first time we were baffled because we always kept our hair so clean. When my mom realized that the lice actually preferred clean hair, she would make me grease up my hair with a shitload of coconut oil and/or pomade for a few days whenever there was an outbreak in our house until we were absolutely certain we had gotten rid of it for good.

what would've been better is if Blossom was idstracted by the apparent innocence of the lice and wracked with indecision over whether to sacrifice the lice and save her sister or find some way of saving the lice from an unjust fate just because they weren't aware of what they were doing but no, just make it so they appeal to her ego. it's not like shes suppsoed to be a hero or soemthing.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard too. Catching head lice has absolutely NOTHING to do with personal hygiene, and they actually prefer a clean head to a dirty one. My little brothers and I caught head lice in elementary and middle school from our classmates and each other a few times, and had to use the special medicated shampoo and not combs. We washed our hair regularly, and took care of our personal hygiene.

I think this episode had potential. Just imagine if this was an half-an-hour episode from the original PPG's season 4. I know that season already had a shrinking episode with Nano of the North, but this one is more like the Fantastic Voyage. The episode could have been called Sugar, Lice, and Everything Nice, which would make more sense and sound more like an OPPG title. The super Lice could have been a result of exposure to unstable or expired Chemical X and how they got on Buttercup could be that she forgot to wash her hair after a day of playing. The Professor could know about the Lice from either observation or from previous experiments with Chemical X. The Professor explanation for why Bubbles and Blossom need to shrink and deliver a bomb to the Lice could be that Super Lice are intelligent and could identify danger and escape to another person. The rest of the episode could be the same as the 2016's episode, but during the festival, one of the kid Lice that Bubbles and Blossom befriends explains that the Lice Queen was the source of the Super Lice's evil and without her, the Lice are free to be their own people and to have individuality. Shortly after, the Queen, having survived the crash, disrupts the festival. She incapacitates Lice Mayor, starts to berate the other Lice for becoming soft weaklings, and she then reveals her plan to borrow into Buttercups brain to form the ultimate nest and start a large Super Lice invasion that will conquer all of Townsville. The Queen starts using her mind control power over all of the Lice, stripping them of their goodwill and individuality, and forcing them into their Stage 2 forms. The girls spring into action and the episode leads into a thrilling chase scene as they try to get the bomb in place. By the time they arrive, they are surrounded by the corrupted Super Lice, Blossom and Bubbles fight back, but they are hesitant to do serious damage to the Lice that were so nice to them before. The Queen, tired of them, starts to fight them herself. She is about to eat them, but at the last second, one Lice, the same one who girls befriended, starts attacking the Queen. During the struggle, the Lice shouts out to the girls and tells them to start the bomb. The girls do so with tears in their eyes and make a hasty retreat. Buttercup and the day is saved, but Bubbles and Blossom are not all that happy about it. This could have been a good episode with the message of how good can come from unexpected places, but I guess it was not meant to be.

Tbh during the entire reboot I've never got the strong sisterly vibe between the girls. If anything it seems to me that they argue more and hardly seem to like each other. Sure, they had their moments in the original where they butt heads, but in the reboot it seems like they do it far more.

That's because the Reboot relies too much on one of the girls being in the wrong and starting the conflict of the episode. The villains are just there to force the girls into learning their lesson. (Painbow, for example) The original show did this sometimes, but mostly it was the villains who were creating the conflict and the girls were there to solve the problem and save the day. Sometimes we even get episodes from the point of view of the villains, which shows that they have a life outside of being the girls' enemies unlike in the reboot where they are just plot devices.

You know if they just said that the lice were technically normal but got stronger due to Buttercups chemical X infused DNA, which is possible as seen in a few episodes, so the lice would gain new powers. So a lice queen would use Buttercup as a base for her army to gain more power and work their way into becoming a world dominating parasite. These would make sense of the monster lice and the girls having to work harder now that their sister and world are in danger. Or Make it like that episode of Foster home were Edwardo has a case of imaginary fleas who build a society in his hair. Even has a flea version of the Mayor. The end of the episode is even the solution of putting them in a room full of hair. Or Do both, the lice drink her blood and form two races, one who have buttercups powers and intention to rule the world and the ones who have gained intelligence and human emotions. Like a Xenomorph story vs The foster home Fleas. They also act like this has been going on for a life time but it's been an a few days"Hey when you realize your lifespan is a month an hour is like a decade to you". So the girls try to fight the parasites but they prove to be too much in number and have to make a deal with the humanoid lice. If they help they will give them a new home where they will be safe from harm. Parasite lice are done for and Buttercup is saved, also the girls decide to throw the humanoid lice into the gangreen gang because they are naturally dirty and don't seem to mind. And so the day was saved thanks to... The Powerpuffgirls and also the poor hygiene of teenage thugs...eww

Actually, I learned from personal experience a handful of times in elementary school, middle school, and high school that head lice prefer clean and well groomed hair to greasy or dirty hair. The first time my little brothers and I got head lice in elementary school, we were all baffled because we always practiced good personal hygiene. However, we quickly realized that the head lice preferred clean hair, so my mom would make me grease my hair up with a bunch of coconut oil to try to keep them away when there was an outbreak in our house until we were absolutely certain that we’d gotten rid of them in both my brothers and I for good. So technically, in real life it actually would make more sense for Blossom to get the head lice instead of Buttercup. But I do like that Blossom and Bubbles got to save her for once, rather than the other way around. Also, in “Nano of the North,” Professor Utonium actually had a more proactive role, and he was a much better parent than he was here. He shrunk the girls down to microscopic size to fight the nanobots, but he actually made sure they were safe after doing that. He put them in a little jar with air-holes at the top of the lid, then drove down to the scene of the crime in the city with them in his car, wore a microscopic binocular thing, so he could watch them fighting the nanobots, cleared away citizens, cars, and traffic to keep the girls from getting stepped on, and even saved the day by stomping on the 6 inch monobot the nanobots merged into at the final stage when he saw that it was too big for the girls to handle at microscopic size. Yeah, the little part where Professor Utonium was reading a bedtime story to an unconscious Buttercup here, was sweet. However, it’s also impossible to forget the fact that Buttercup might never have gotten a life-threatening scalp infection in the first place, if Professor Utonium had just put his foot down and told her she had to get a hair cut and wash her hair earlier in the year when he saw just how dirty and unmanageable it was getting, rather than just letting her keep it that way. A lot of fans of the classic cartoon think that Professor Utonium was too hard on Buttercup when he kicked her out of the house for nothing after she had gone without taking a bath for a week til it got to the point where she had just become unbearably dirty and smelly for miles, and sure, maybe, he could have tried talking to BC a bit more before doing that. However, what else was he really supposed to do to convince Buttercup that she had to bathe? She has superpowers, but he doesn’t. She’s not a normal five year old, who he could force to take a bath, whether she liked it or not. By kicking her out with nothing when she refuses to go for a bath so long, even though she’s become unbearably smelly and dirty, he’s forcing Buttercup into a situation where she would realize she had no choice but to cave in and take one, no matter how much she hated it, which she did, like a day later, anyway. It sucks that she got kicked out by her family for refusing to bathe for that long to the point of being unbearably smelly, but considering the circumstances of that entire situation, I didn’t think it was too unfair of a punishment from them in “Down ‘n’ Dirty” since there wasn’t anything else they could do to force her to cave in and listen. Here, Professor Utonium does nothing about Buttercup’s dirty and unmanageable hair for a whole year, then she catches super lice, and almost dies as a result of it, which is just very neglectful parenting on his part. Also, he made a little car for his kids to drive at microscopic size, and didn’t include seatbelts in it. The Professor Utonium in “Nano of The North”and “Down ‘n’ Dirty”’ was a better parent than the one in this reboot episode. Granted, the Professor Utonium from the classic cartoon was a better parent than the reboot one altogether, but in this instance, I’m thinking about how the two episodes from the classic cartoon that this reboot episode ripped off were both far better than this one combined, even if it’s not THAT bad by reboot standards.

Buttercup doesn’t save the Day single-handedly for once and the Professor isn’t a complete idiot? Sound like this episode is at least passable! Honestly not sure why the queen sub plot was even there, though; just raises more questions than answers (why is there both a queen and a mayor, should they be rejoicing the death of the one individual that I assume lays all of the eggs for the colony, was the queen for or against drilling into Buttercup’s head, etc.). The episode would have been just fine with the lice welcoming Blossom and Bubbles into their society to throw them off guard.

Sugar, Spice and Super Lice....these were the ingredients to make this reboot, apparently. But Cartoon Network forgot the most important ingredient of them all, *A LITTLE BIT OF THE BUBBLY* It's not out of the ordinary for this reboot to do a ''homage'' or ''tribute'' to a classic movie, how much you wanna bet till they do a ''It's a Wonderful Life'' type of episode. Oddly enough, apparently not many people remember the original ''Fantastic Voyage'' and instead remember the plot being used by other shows. Just something to consider about how recognized this plot is. Still, i'm a bit surprised Blossom and Bubbles actually went through with saving Buttercup, even though it took a while to get there. it's almost like if they're superheroes or something, i dunno. Also, when you said ''Gee, Professor'' it almost sounded like you said ''Jeep'' twice in seconds. Maybe i am going nuts, but that had to be intentional, Shadow XD
