Full review and teardown of a PowerMr boost solar charge controller. It can charge any Li-ion batteries up to 84 Volts. My intention is to use it for my E-bike. How good is it? Let's find out!

Nice in depth review. The functions and capabilities of this unit are quite good but it's a bit rich that you need to open the unit to correct a production problem. PowerMr has a habit of doing this to its customers, I don't know how they are still in business. May be their customers are tech-savie like yourself who can diagnose and fix the problems?

If you read the Amazon reviews, there a quite a few complaints that it arrives DOA. It's more likely the problem with the coil. The coil has a thick wire wrapping around that metal ring acting like a spring. Any strong vibration might cause it to spring out of the solder joint.

This info is very Helpful to those who are looking for these specific explanations, and it's also FUN to watch - to those with inquiring minds! *I don't use any of this stuff, but still watched! Nice Job! 13:49 I suppose that you could inline a little on/off toggle switch to kill the charge on the charge wire and/or power on the power wire.. But the features this has seems good enough. 1 question.. With the battery plugged into the unit w/ no power coming in to the unit.. I wonder if there could be a slight parasitic draw? *I've noticed that on a lot of gadgets I've tested in the past.

The inline on-off switch is a great idea. The unit turns off when the sun is down so that it can save power for the battery. I think it would still have some but very little parasitic draw since the whole thing is already off. For leaving it overnight until the next day when the sun comes out, it shouldn't be a problem at all. But if you don't solar charge it often, you might want to disconnect the battery.

Hey, I was randomly searching around on Marketplace, and ads were popping up for FREE Bulk Panels! All were blems / broke, but could be used for parts or easily repaired.. If we can find more of these ads / deals, we'd be set for life!
