I loved this anime for portraying the ugly emotions of characters, such as Sorata's jealousy for Mashiro, or Jin's inferiority complex. I totally hate love triangles but realistic drama made me watch till the end

Sorata uses her as a sex slave (wich im really mad with like wtf) Later on they break up because sorata knew he couldn't fulfil his dream as long as he is comparing himself to Mashiro. And after 4 years they gets back together.

Awesome review, though you probably sold me on the show more than you wanted to. The unique stuff you mentioned really makes me want to watch it, I'm intrigued by the stuff it tackles. Also, if I can actually recommend something to review, then I would really appreciate if someone would talk about Sunday Without God. One of my favorite series, perhaps mostly because of my personal journey with it, but I'd love to see even one or two people hear about it and give it a watch one day (Same goes for a little series called Little Busters, but I don't want to fill this channel with reviews of school anime). Sunday Without God is definitely unlike anything I've watched up to this point, so I think you'd appreciate it despite its clear flaws and some obvious mistakes.

It is a thing that is skightly above the average LN bullshit because the characters have a bit more than just being cardboard cutouts of the anime 'LN character notice board', but not more. For example it is nice to have an autistic (tendencies) character, but it is not really explored well enough to make a difference. So i completely agree with your assessment. The only thing that is annoying is the fact that some people that only watched even shittier shows think it is godly and make it overrated like fuck.

Sakurasou is a story about friendship and life. If you release that the show is willing to let it's characters fail at their dreams, shouldn't the same consensus be reached about their romances? After all, the anime doesn't even cover half of the LN

If this was your second anime you would love it too...ive seen over 50 anime. I admit thats not a lot but i have my standarts for rom-com kinda set. And every time i watch a rom-com the immediate comparison is always sakuraso. I just love this show. To me...its one of the finest pieces of work i ever watched in my life. I dont know why you dont like it (i kinda do since i understand english kinda well). (Sorry if this comment is all over the place but i wanna tell you what i feel about this anime) (having said that i didnt say anything about it other than the fact that i love it cus its my second anime so...) i like the characters. They are fun and interesting, admittedly not the best, but they are good. The story is above average. To me it doeant feel static as some other shows did. Music is 11 out of 10 (the 1st op is amazing) and the visuals are ok, mabe above average but nothing close to violet evergarden. So thats my view on this anime.

I found this show pretty derivative. All the characters seem to have been borrowed from other shows. Even the names were derivative. They looked like they came straight out of Tora Dora, Working!!!, Sora no Woto, to the point that it seemed more like a pastiche than an original Anime. Even the voice actors came across as characters from other shows. The story lacks continuity and emotional depth. Felt like going through the motions to me. Too many contrived, unnatural moments, especially with the main character, who lacks the depth needed to carry the production.

I have to say that the stress on every single Japanese word being wrong makes it seem like you didn't actually watch it. I mean surely if one watch it one quickly find out where the stress in "Sorata" lies and that it's "SO-rata" not "so-RA-ta"

Truth be told, this is still one of my favourite anime. Like you, I went in completely blind. But I have never found myself relating to any other show like this one. And it is because of how the anime brilliantly nails the focus of talent and whatnot that in all honesty, the light novel tropes became unnoticeable to me. Sure, there is romantic tension but because of the anime's bigger themes, they never truly bothered me. And even though I am still aware they exist, they have been twigged just right that they become either funny or relieving to me. A good example is the main character Sorata. Even though he gets into many situations of awkward misunderstandings as most male characters do, he's quick to explain things which ultimately helps to prevent a lot of unnecessary injuries. The fanservice is to be expected. It's nothing new and really leaves a bad first impression, myself included. But again, it never felt like the anime overstepped their boundaries. When it is time to be serious, JC Staff knew how to control themselves. There are just so many things I find so properly done in this anime that I just can't help but get a little defensive even though I know this anime is not gonna have as much impact on everyone as it did for me. I still fully appreciate your comments about the show and I can totally understand where u are coming from. So of course, a very insightful view of the show and hope to see more from you. ^_^
