you would never wear that watch in public, i own myself own many quality/luxury watches. However my day to day, watch is a Sekonda for 80 pounds. Its now been 21 years since i bought it and ive only ever replaced the battery and strap. The materials are gorgeous for the price and the design looks stunning. lets be honest, if we owned that watch we'd probably leave it in the Drawer and then marvel at it when getting back from work. And then a year later sell it because the 422,000 pound price is fricking ridiculous. You could buy a Rolls-Royce for that money let alone a House.

Price can be 500k or 5mil it doesn't matter.. this is a masterpiece... and i am happy they limit it. This is pure art.... and in my head this watch has no price.. you can't have it.. and that's beauty about it... simply beautiful.

Lange’s website states “The hands are made of honey gold, blued steel and gold-plated steel.” Is there a reason they use gold-plated steel? Especially in this out of all their watches?

They seem use steel for the slender chronograph second hands (i.e. fast-moving parts). Probably a question of weight vs. strength. I only took some very basic engineerig courses, but I imagine, depending on the alloy, a solid gold hand would probably have to be heavier and thicker, causing different resonance frequencies. Maybe even necessitating reinforcing some parts of the movement. To me it seems to be an engineering decision.
