I've ordered one in white and I should get it sometimes this month. That conversation whether it is true Daytona or not did not interest me a bit. I was looking for old school mid size sport bike with newer tech (quickshifter was a must since I suck at downshifting on a track) and triple or four cylinder soundtrack. Supersoprts are for people who want to have track specific bike or if they like to torture themselves on the street.

Hope you enjoy your new bike! I’ve been wanting something to replace my stolen cbr600f. I think this one will be a neat little upgrade. Something comfortable for weekend rides and not too aggressive. I did want the cbr650r but it only comes restricted in my country is more expensive than the triumph

I've got a Street Triple RS which I love, it's my third Street Triple after a GSX-R750 but the only thing I miss from the Suzuki is the fairing so yes a faired RS would IMO be perfect.

A fine review! This is in the tradition of the first Daytona; which was simply a T100 with twin carbs, hotter "Q" cams and a close ratio trans which made a T100R with Daytona decals. Bet this one dose well against the other 10k entry level sports bikes. However, a true replacement for the wonderful Daytona 675 would be great to see! And why not an entry Daytona and a larger displacement 765 Super-sport Daytona? Other manufacturers do that and Triumph should.

Sounds like they just need to also offer it in a SPORT trim with stiffer suspension for those who are more aggressive

Fantastic video and much appreciated for sharing💥. For future reference, it would be beneficial if you could include comparisons of the riding experience with its direct competitors mentioned. Additionally, I have a quick question regarding the Daytona 660: Why does it feature a symmetric swing-arm🤔? On the right side, it resembles a banana shape, akin to the Street Triple, whereas on the left side, the swing-arm appears straight, similar to the KTM 890. Is there a specific reason for this asymmetry? (I've noticed a similar pattern with the Tiger and the Trident 660.) Keep up the excellent work!

Put that engine in the Tiger sport. Would be a cool bike...

Either make a 660 Daytona "RS" that has brembos, olens, a better dash, and more aggressive posture. Or make a 765 Daytona. Literally turn the Street Triple RS into a sport bike. You will sell a f*** ton of them.

The thing is they did with the last Daytona and it didn’t sell. This segment wants a twin cylinder

That’s was the last Daytona. But no Daytona at least the superstore sold well. Same as the r6 etc. That market is gone now. Don’t get me wrong if triumph wanted to do this they should just thrown fairings on a street triple r

Look at all reviews people complained that the Daytona was always the slowest. That’s not me saying that I would love to own one. This whole new motorcycle middleweight category is confusing. Less power and more weight yet people will buy them

Yamaha is the same. If you are going to throw the name r7 on it at least massage the engine a little. At least triumph did that

Everyone says if the R7 had a bump to 90ish hp and a slightly more high strung engine it would be perfect. A redesigned cam can do that, I think the R7 would be far more popular if they did that. Bump the power band up another 1000 or 1500 rpm and it would rip

Feel like triumph are loosing there way the street 675 was a perfect blend between sport and road bike then the daytona was there incase you wanted track perfection. When they decided to drop the daytona they made the street too dedicated to sporty riding while making nearly a 40 hp break down to the trident and removed the the fun at the top end and the long gear at the bottom now they have put the daytona with faring in the middle. Looking like they have full on twisted up the order look back at your 2013 reviews and bring back the dream bikes. Even honda are brining back the inline 600s its not all about big cc engines its for the beat of the heart these bikes have. 🌅🏍

It wasn't a perfect blend of sport and road ... it was a super sport through and through. Almost all manufacturers are slowing down on their 600 super sport classes .

@teej1987 well mine wasn't the r or rs version so maybe suspension was a bit softer but definitely felt more comfy than other super sport bikes I've been on and definitely not as leant forward on the 675 💁‍♂️

My question is why make it a triple? Other manufacturers are making twins to be able to compete in the twin cup. This bike with a twin imo would be much better. I like triples but triumph had a 100hp twin why not use that? It’s a nice bike but just like Suzuki it’s way to heavy. As of right now Aprilia owns this segment which triumph had a chance to overtake. Let’s hope Honda makes a cbr750r. Sorry but the twins are what people want in this segment
@judge831

False. Triples are way kooler, and this was not designed to compete. It's a street bike

Cooler to you. Suzuki is a street bike as well as the Aprilia but they still compete I love my triple but twins to me are the best. V twins anyway

@@ryanoliver-vi9gma 90° V twin and a 270° parallel twin act identical, the firing order is identical. I’d rather have this over the GSX 8R. I’d rather have the 8S over the Trident though…

Not happy at all with the daytona name going on such a watered down 675 but such is marketing. 765 daytona would have prob sold me.

The original Daytona were a less aggressive, street oriented bike. The only Daytona’s that were aggressive were the 675 and the 765 Moto2. Even the older 955i Daytona was a much softer bike compared to the liter bikes of its time. So it’s not watering down the name if you want to talk history. This new Daytona is strategically smart, it can be limited to A2 compliance and then unrestricted once the rider gets their unlimited license. Triumph did do a 765 variant here in the states. It didn’t sell very well. Aggressive bikes don’t sell well any more… if they did a 765 with ergonomics more like this they might sell a few more…

@@sleeper.simulant7327 the originals were very old and completely un related to the last 15-20 years of the bike. I had a 2002 955i daytona single sided swing arm, thing made 152hp, that was top of the line hp for the time. The original 600cc was an experiment, they then changed to TT, perhaps the 660TT would make more sense. the 675 came out in 2006, 18 years of the name being synonymous with track 1st road 2nd. To dig beyond 2 decades to justify a terrible idea is so bran cult behavior that anyone not in the cult just rolls their eyes. They called it a daytona, then we compare to the daytona for the last 2 decades and it fails in every regard, how is this unfair a critique? I see this same behavior within different denominations of Christinianity, they are so devoted to their cult that nothing is allowed in that would change their mind. In closing I think the bike itself is fine, but tying it to the daytona name inevitably will tie it to the daytona we had for the last 2 decades. The daytona worked its way up to the 675, and now down to the 660. I see it, any honest person can see it. I had a 955I RS, 955I Daytona, and a 675. Currently i own a 660 trident. This is literally a 660Trident R, not a daytona. It is far more comparable to the current trident. I think the marketing team and the engineers split on this one too, but marketing always wins out. This is also what happened to disney and why it sucks now.

@@teej1987 short term growth does not equal long term vision. To say because a product sells now that is all that matters is to be short sighted. A 660 daytona will win 0 races, not push the industry forward and so on. If they had gone 765 daytona it may have won races, further strengthening the triumph name into the future, building a LASTING legacy which in the long run, sells more bike and ushers in more loyalists. The 660 will not create loyalists, it will be a quick high, the next morning vomiting.

@@JoshuaHults bro what are you going on about ? It's not about racing anymore , it's about comfort. It's why the naked bike segment took off and the 600 super sport segment dwindled. So now companies are just taking their naked bikes that have been selling and made a fully faired version. It's cute you think you know more than all these manufacturers lol
