I agree with the repetitive problem it has and that ryoko’s boyfriend is an asshole. Which is sad cuz I like her character. Sadly the manga doesn’t fix the repetitive problem but it does expand other couples. My favorite is the one that makes their appearance at 25:07. Side note, I like how the school uniforms make the girls where long skirts, you don’t see that too much in anime

Omg I really like this show and this is the only show I have watched twice , just because of every character’s chemistry/reaction. Is this the best show ever ? Far from it ,some relationships are bad or repetitive, I have to admit its funny and has enough charming animation for me to like it.

I think that this is one of those interesting on concept ideas with the not best way of dealing with it. The idea of multiple relationships at once at the same school seems very intriguing but the weird amount of uneven screen time and very painful tropes that seem to leave the show stagnant don't help at all. Shame cause it seems nice.

I'm thinking the manga is probably better. Not only because chapters go by quicker due to being a 4 Koma style manga, but also because there are many more characters, meaning there's more variety than in the anime. Seems the english version of the manga is only available as ebooks, but they're all discounted. So if you're really interested trying for the manga may be a better experience for you. And if you're still not sure, you can at least google "Tsuredure children manga" and then a character name, and spend a decent amount of time scrolling through the google image results.

I feel like ur a psychic, Twiins. Like, real shit, my friend recommended me this anime a week ago and I was planning on watching it this weekend! Like when u did that DDLC vid and DDLC Plus got announced (Btw, love the game!). So definitely gonna give this a watch and rewatch this great video! One recommendation of a show, if you haven't seen it, called Wonder Egg Priority! Really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!

I'll be honest I wanted to love this anime too but the quality dose dip as the end gets closer much similar to love tyrant now that I think about it. At least we got some very funny moments and appealing designs and I give your review a 10/10 will recommend.💙

akagi is my favorite even though he is jerk he honestly is only trying to help he helps her improve her health, grades and in a sense is his jerkish behavior is there because she does not respect conventional authority. the fact that she is a delinquent means she disregards other authorities so she becomes a new authority that helps her foward. but at the same time all of your criticism is true and i understand it completely .

I remember when I watch this show around when I was getting into anime more on Crunchyroll. I definitely like it when back then, after seeing this review I can agree that there was some flaws like with the same tropes being repetitive. Though I think the show could be saved if they were given a second season to redo some problems and focus on new couples(I especially want to see the guy who was afraid he wasn’t good looking enough for his gf and his friend who would also get a gf too soon). So if season 2 happens, I’ll rewatch it and give it another try.

Tsurezure Children is one of my all-time favourite mangas -- and it's so perfectly unsuited for anime it could've been cooked up in a lab. Wakabayashi's genius is for facial expressions first and foremost. In a comic, he can just cut to some amazing new expression; anime has to make the transition smoothly. The comic uses 4koma timing and "beat" panels to great effect; anime has to fill in the gaps. And several of the relationships feel very different if you're not allowed to think any time passes between the strips. In particular, while the Akagi/Ryoko relationship is clearly a little weird, I had no trouble rationalizing it in the manga because we were only getting little glimpses (and Akagi's attitude clearly does something for Ryoko or she would dump him). But in the anime, his assholery is uninterrupted, so it's much harder to explain how she stands him! Even as an ad for the manga, this anime has a major flaw: it leaves out several of the best couples. My personal favourite of the absentees is Ubukata and fox-mask girl, but there are lots of others missing. There are even chapters where characters interact outside their particular couples! Anime-only viewers are really getting a very partial experience. It reminds me of Midori Days, a show that I will never forgive for leaving out great manga characters like Lucy and Nao, despite finding time for the dull Shiori and Kouta.

Damn had to stop myself for telling my whole story. The one with the guy that thought he was too ugly, really relateto that as that was and at times still is my mind set. Needs less to say I was proven wrong. I'm guessing it's either from a story perspective or it's just repeated too much to the point of annoyance but every time I heard you say " this is dumb" I did keep thinking " their teens, they do dumb stuff, don't you remember being young and the weird logic and why of thinking back then that just baffles you now?" But ya it dose not make for good story telling and/or the repetitive use that I'm not experiencing it from watching a review instead of the show might not be giving me the full view on how dumb it is. ( also you might be younger than I thought and I'm way older than I realize)

Chiyo and Takao love story sounds really cute and makes me want to watch this but the Ryouko and Akagi story is so off putting! Like why did they think that was an okay?? Maybe if she overcame the creep and realized she didn’t need to go through that then yeah I’d be happy to watch but sadly no 😔

In all honesty, this show's main premise sounds terrible. I haven't watched it but judging by your review, a big problem with the show and premise in general is that there isn't enough time to flesh out the characters. Of course they're going to be shallow caricatures. There's a reason why most shows have at most 7 main characters. The review was still very entertaining though

Spoiler/criticism of the manga: Tomomichi girlfriend is the worst part of the manga, she just seems like a last minute add on so "everyone ends up together", but importantly it completely destroys all that was build up with his character regarding friendship, I love Tomomichi but I would have loved if he will end up "alone".

You are missing the joke with Ryouko and Akagi. The joke is that they are both tsunderes and both say the opposite of what they mean, and both of them realize that the other means the opposite of what they say. The relationship is very cute and wholesome after you realize that.
