Wonderful music, thanks for presenting to us! After listening I went on and re-watched your other videos on Rota and listened to his Symphonies. Oh my how gorgeous his Symphony 1 is! I hope you include Rota in your series of Concert programs and If I had to choose one work by...

His harp concerto is a favorite, and I look forward to hearing that horn piece. Thanks for highlighting this disc; his non-violent works seem hard to find.

A concerto for horn and harp could be a real winner

The Easdale disc you recommended is extraordinary, so I'm looking forward to this too. I think one reason for the dearth of horn concertantes is that, for me, anyway, the horn is really an ensemble instrument, much more so than any other instrument I can think of. Three or four horns together? Extraordinary. Alone? 🤷♂️

Alone? Mozart and Strauss. Ensemble, I love the Schumann Konzertstuck for Four Horns and Orchestra. And, of course, Haydn Symphony 31. The first section of Weber's Freischuetz Overture is sheer heaven.

It s interesting you mention Prokofiev as the Rota contrabass concerto is a parody of a Prokofiev one(but that s not in here, or possibly you d wear that white scarf of shame

I can't blame Rota for being better in Peace than in War. After all, Prokofiev is much better in the first seven Peace scenes of his opera than the War scenes except when he can do intimate stuff like the death of Andrey. Piti, piti, piti. Rota is in good company.
