How good is it to use essential oils with it? Because vocolinc did specify to use water soluble essential oils which most of them being sold on the net (Amazon etc) aren't water soluble. Does it damage the device to use the regular essential oils?

I used to use a humidifier and may again in the future. This VH1 would be a good choice. Definitely would like more automation and better integration with HomeKit. Thanks for the review.

@@9to5Mac pretty much…sometimes the trade winds kick in and it feels better, but when the air is still it can get pretty uncomfortable. But electricity here is crazy expensive so almost no one has central AC.

I am trying to buy one and it says not available until 30 June. Ok I thought, I can wait. However when I try to order it says they don't deliver to AZ? What??? I have emailed their support...

Is there any update that solves the granularity problem? The slider in HomeKit indicates that that there might be the possibility.

Been on my radar to have. Eve app is a great option for automating HomeKit devices too.

````I haven't had a chance to check out the MistFlow yet, but the Flowerbud diffuser they have is pretty sweet. I use it everyday and the wife loves it. I have an automation set up to have it turn on 10 minutes before she gets home from work, so the bedroom smells nice and relaxing when she arrives.
The one thing that I wanted to see was automations and if it is compatible with IFTTT? so that if my humidity sensor is less than 35% turn it on until the humidity sensor reads 45%
I just got mine some days ago and one thing I immediately noticed is how difficult it is to automate. I first used the Vocolinc app to check on my Eve Room if the humidity is below 50% and turn on the humidifier until the humidity is back up to 50%. It didn't work. And somehow, the Vocolinc app had trouble retaining this trigger (it gets deleted when you exit the app/switch between apps), which could be a HomeKit issue because you cannot get input from a sensor, which is very strange when you want to automate things at home. Using a sensor in the Home app as a trigger, it will give you the error that the sensor is always on. This makes all sensors in my apartment, except motion sensors, useless. Second thing I noticed is that the humidifier's own sensor is not accurate. When I used it the first time, I set the threshold to 50% but somehow, the sensor in the humidifier showed the humidity % is decreasing 😂 I just left it on a few hours and it finally realised the humidity has improved. The humidifier goes to idle mode when it reaches the threshold BUT, because of a maybe faulty sensor, the humidity immediately goes down after about 10 seconds. This causes the humidifier to switch between on and idle several times a minute. That's not good. There should be a high and low threshold for devices like this, not just one, especially if its own sensor isn't reliable. Third, better set the level to something higher. When I had mine set to 3 and below, the noise from the humidifier sounded like a mechanical pulse. At least on a higher level, it's one continuous buzz that you get used to eventually. The mist that comes out of it is cool to the touch, which is quite nice. Add scented oils and you can just relax while reading or listening to music. Fourth, I love the lighting effects of the mood light.. until I found out it cannot be set outside the Vocolinc app. The Home app only has turning it on/off and setting it to one colour, including its brightness. Lastly, I like the humidifier. I think features can be improved through software updates. And I am hoping that Apple will further improve the Home app to maximise home automation. The build is quite nice and I should say, simple, since it doesn't really do much. The water container could have had a better light diffusing feature. And as Jeff mentioned in the video, better use filtered water to avoid annoying mineral buildup within the water container.
Update 2023 - It still has the same issues and not a single software update has been made.
I have it for half a year now and its biggest issue is that it doesn't have a removable water tank, so you have to use a bottle or something. Not always the best way. Humidifiers from Xiaomi have that.
A smart humidifier is one which can drag itself to the sink and fill itself and be back to where it belongs. Until then no.. I wouldn’t accept this to be smart.
