REVIEW: Wested Leather 'Destiny' Indiana Jones Jacket

I find it interesting that the whole Indy ensemble is rather slimming. I'm not trying to be an ass like the guy below, so please don't take it that way. I'll explain my own situation in a minute. I notice it on myself as well. You'd think with the layers it would make us look thicker, but when all of our gear is properly sized (and in my case proportioned to my height), it's actually really flattering. Your pics at the end look fantastic. I just recently received my first Steele + Jones (I ordered four at once; "Raiders" main hero, "Raiders" Hawaii hero, "Temple" hero, and "Tank Chase Crusade" hero). I own many Indy jackets, about 20, from Wested, and different generations of Todd's, plus some Disney's, and had a U.S. Wings I gave away. I like them all, but the Steele + Jones looks awesome. I actually told Diego my neck size, and for the first time, I have a collar on an Indy jacket that doesn't look too small on me. I'm only 5'7", but I have very large shoulders, even when I'm not working out. Also, I have an 18.5" neck. I think in dress shirts that would be about a XXL? I wear a 44 though, otherwise. Anyway, not to drag on, but I just find it interesting how flattering the costume is when everything fits us, even if our build isn't like Harrison's. It's going to be interesting to see how their "Temple of Doom" jacket fits me, as I know it's a tighter cut. Great video, take care.

Thanks for that, super informative... and makes me want one. Couple of things: 1) this new Wested leather looks a lot thicker than what I'm seeing on HF. (Bryan Long's old Kelso still looks the closest to me leather-wise/drape-wise for a Destiny jacket.) Do you feel like the Wested will get more supple and drapier with wear/distressing? And 2) killer lid! Where did you get it?

Really like that jacket! Nice review. Any suggestions on getting the best measurements? I like the way the jacket sits! Question, is this jacket "heavier" than the Raiders, ToD jackets?

In your experience, how long does it take for your leather to fully break in and stop it from squeaking? My Wested Raiders still squeaks on occasion but I'm not comfortable with weathering it by hand.

Apply some conditioner. I recommend Pecards Cream. Same stuff Trent uses, I believe. That will hydrate the leather and make it stop. It will also help break it in by softening the fibers.

Yeah it's never gonna be perfect. But we are so lucky to own items so close to what we see on screen. I wish I ordered mine a little longer in the sleeves as well. But I'm noticing the more I wear it the sleeves don't pull up as far.

I’m also a size 42 myself. My stock Wested jackets are 44. I love my Pre Distressed Raiders jacket from Wested. I might be buying a Pre Distressed Last Crusade in the near future. Lol
