Withings BPM Connect is an at-home blood pressure cuff that’s easy to use and highly accurate. Created with the help of cardiologists and cleared by the FDA (but as of filming time, not by Health Canada), it makes taking your blood pressure and heart rates convenient and gives you immediate colour-coded feedback on its easy to read LED display. It also connects seamlessly with the Withings Health Mate app on your phone.
Why get a smart Blood Pressure Monitor? Avoid White coat syndrome or added stress
Who can use Withings BPM Connect?
The Withings BPM Connect can be used by up to eight people and is supported by Android and iOS devices. It features a long-lasting battery that provides six months of use with a single charge.
Even for those who wouldn’t consider themselves tech-savvy, the Withings BPM Connect is easy to learn and to use, since it operates with one button.
The LED display will show you your numerical readings, and also give you a colour coded light that tells you if your blood pressure is normal up to hypertensive, based on recommendations from the American Heart Association. These colors also appear in the app so you can see your full data history.
Setting up & using Withings BPM Connect with multiple users: not simple
Getting the device set up is easy enough. You’ll set up or log into your Withings Health Mate App account and pair the app to your your Blood Pressure Cuff. With that done, you’ll be able to take a reading.
One button operation
The Withings BPM Connect is to operate. The long adjustable strap is comfortable to put on by yourself, and when used by multiple users, it can accommodate a wide range of arm sizes.
Press the power button once to turn it one and another press on the same button will start the reading, taking your blood pressure and heart rate measurements. Taking your heart rate, systolic, and diastolic blood pressure will take only 30 seconds. The device can also share your blood pressure and readings with other apps like Apple Health or with your doctor too.
Is Withings BPM Connect accurate?
Withings says the BPM Connect has been thoroughly tested to ensure it gives you highly accurate results. While I don’t have access to medical equipment to verify it, the readings seemed accurate for what I know my own baselines to be.
I also compared the heart rate taken by the BPM Connect to Apple watch for example, and found they’re the same.
Withings BPM Connect is portable
Withings BPM Connect is pretty stylish for a medical device. It is slim and does not feature a hoop of tubes and balloons, and, therefore, it is easy to carry around. It winds down to a small discrete package that no one would ever know if for your blood pressure.
The small and compact size of the Withings BPM Connect perfectly fits in a purse, a messenger bag or an overnight bag. This makes the device travel-friendly so you can check your bold pressure regularly even when traveling. The heather grey colour of the cuff and the white devices means you will no attract attention when you use the device in public.
Overall review: Withings BPM Connect
Overall, There’s a lot to like about the Withings BPM Connect. If you need to monitor your blood pressure, Withings BPM Connect is a very easy, user-friendly DIY home option. The on-device readout gives you easy to read and understand info.
Withings BPM Connect is highly portable, and you can comfortably use it in public without attracting unnecessary attention. Plus the long lasting 6 month battery means you won’t have to worry about charging if you want to take it traveling. I spent about three weeks with the device so I can’t yet say anything about the actual battery life.
When it comes to downsides, I think Withings could to a much better job at the multi-user experience. It would help to be able to manually reassign readings to other users, and the process for swapping the users back and forth needs to be simplified. It would be nice if Guest readings were available in the app. And I think the app organization and labeling could be a bit more intuitive.
Even so, I think this is a good device for those needing to monitor blood pressure regularly and I can recommend it, for both technophiles and those without a major knowledge of technology.
Withings BPM Connect sells for about $99USD and you can get it from Withings website or from Amazon.

Erin, I just got this device and couldn't figure out how to take a reading. I searched everything they gave me and the app. Still couldn't figure it out. I was about to give up when I watched your video and you said to press the button a second time. Hallelujah it worked! Thank you soooooo much for your help. I will now be watching you and your videos!!

Yes - Your video is a lifesaver - I think my blood pressure went up significantly trying to figure out where it appeared on their third-rate app - Thanks to your video I was able to find it! - I suspect that, consequently, my blood pressure went down! 😃

Great review, very clear. However it overlooked one very important feature: the ability to take 3 readings in a row and get the average of the 3, which is the medically recommended way of taking accurate readings! The Withings BPM Connect does allow this: When the screen displays "BP", press and hold the button on the BPM Connect until "BP x3" appears on the screen. Press the button again to start a measurement. In the "BP x3" mode BPM Connect will launch 3 blood pressure measurements in a row. The interval between the readings can be adjusted in the app under "Measures Interval"... Hope this info helps.

It is easy to use the cuff for multiple people. After the BP is registered a name appears. If that is not the person, hold in the button and it will change to another name. If that name is correct release the button. Then press the button again and you should get a check mark that it was accepted.

Is there a way to leave it on and set it to track BP throughout the day? If I didn't already have a BP monitor I would think about it. But it doesn't look like having a rechargeable battery and tracking is much of an upgrade. My batteries last several months.

I work at an insurance companies that gives these out as part of a program. Someone called in last night that neither she nor her doctors could figure out how to use it. She couldn't get the programming, but she couldn't get the device itself. I wondered what is involved in using it. I frankly wouldn't be able to get this one button thing, and you press it, and then you "just" press it again, and long presses and short presses, and when presses. The display on the device isn't that intuitive either. And, I don't trust the fact that there is no device on the veins in the bend in the arm; it seems to get the pressure from the entire length of the arm? And I am wondering how tightly that device hanging off the front of the cuff can make contact with your arm.

I wish you would have reviewed integration with a few common health apps like Apple Health & Google Fit. As an Android user, I'm having trouble finding a reliable home BP monitor that can easily connect to Android via Bluetooth and seamlessly integrate with Google Fit. I've tried a few Omron products and I can't even get them to connect to Bluetooth on either a Pixel 3a or 4XL. Lots of comments verifying Omron doesn't like to connect to newer Androids.

No, you can't. I didn't know that and I just found out when it arrived, a very smart move on their side. It makes you dependable. What if they start charging you to use the app? Or sell your data? Or stop supporting it a few years from now. It will make your Withings BPM connect totally useless.... I am thinking of returning it.

You must have gotten a good unit then. I have three BP measurement devices, this one is by far the highest of those machines. My regular daily BP is 108/78. From day one, this Withings unit runs anywhere from a low of 156/99 up to 176/104 and everywhere in between. So I am horribly disappointed with the nearly $100 I spent for this thing. And with no returns to boot from buying at Amazon, I can't go out and purchase another one hoping it will work. I've even taken to my dr office and my other units match the dr office within one to two points. Not 60-70 points off. It's really too bad as I do like this unit. I hope others have success.

I tried this unit and found a lot of issues with it. Mainly, it reads high on blood pressure measurements. I got both the BPM connect and the Omron Platinum monitors and tried them side by side. The BPM Connect always gave a higher reading than the Omron. Also, only a 1 year warranty, but 2 years if you live in Europe? And there are no instructions on how to really use this device. You have to scroll through the web to carve out bits of info to figure out how to use various functions. The app is really nice, though and worked seamlessly. I had to spend a lot of time searching the web so I could do a factory rest before returning this item today. I really wanted to like this unit, but kept the Omron Platinum unit instead.

I'm always interested in hearing what's out there, but this one doesn't tempt me. Aside from the downsides you mention, the white on white display would be a problem for people like my dad, whose eyesight is no longer the best. Plus the price is $262 in Canada! That's more than five times as much as an excellent BP monitor without an app :-(

Thanks for your review. The Withings BPM Connect device cannot be controlled from the app, and the dashboard is no help. Fail! There is no translation of the limited and inscrutable read-out on the device, so the few visible characters on the device are completely opaque. What do they mean? Fail! Why is there no instruction or explanation on the app? They get a FAIL on user interface and user experience! I do not see a way to toggle between the single reading and triple reading option. Fail! Overall, this is a frustrating and unusable device, MUCH worse than the previous version, which was more bulky, but also actually usable. Unfortunately, after several years of use, mine failed so i got the new one. This new version is smaller but not usable. I do not recommend it at all. Buy something else.
