Update 2: measured on both bpm connect and omron evolv. To be enought you have to use 2 systems to have a sort of feel that you can thrust a bit the BP benchmark values. The data values are average wise the same. I did a 3 run test on the withings bpm connect and the omron evolv. Bpm connect can do that with a custom setting. Evolv not. But pressing 3x times with a little break is not that hard. My biggest positive for the omron is its clumsy proof. If your doubting the pressure on your arms than the evolv wins. I had to use the evolv in order to have a trusty feel of fitting with the bpm connect. Software wise omron connects nice with Samsung health directly. Bpm connect not. Data wise I'm a freak so I like the more open structure of withings health app. And also it syncs via WiFi. Omron wins in my opinion on speed, fitting and trustworthy measurements. Withings bpm connect wins on software and WiFi connection. So 8/10 for withings bmp connect and 9/10 for the omron. Im still not sure if I'm returning the bmp connect.

This may mean the end of sales for most home devices. Europe and the US have institutes that verify accuracy of devices, but the vast majority does not get a seal of approval. However, there are many Omrons which do, even some cheaper ones, and even some of their wrist devices.

Thank you for the review! Diagnosed stage 2 hypertension a few weeks ago. The Withings readings matched my historical bp numbers. I now take bp readings daily, and forward my ENTIRE health data (coordinated with Apple Watch) to my cardiologist. My ACE inhibitor wasn’t working well enough, and adjustments are required. The Withings let me know that. Highly recommended! If not for this review, I would have bought (and almost did) the inferior device.

i bought the withings. it really is well made and well designed. taking your blood pressure initially can be a bit scary! but what happens to me is my pressure is generally 10+ points lower at home than in the doctors. so many people are just wrongly diagnosed and drugged with serious meds that have negative side effects. taking bp is also a great way to tweak sleep, supplements, exercise etc. everyone should be taking bp 2x a day imo. heart disease is one major bullet it's advisable to dodge. i went whole food plant based, got rid of salt and refined oil, reduced stress, and increased exercise to make sure i don't fall victim to this scourge. taking my bp is a great way to keep an eye on trends to make corrections. be well!

It should be noted that, while they may last up to 5 years, the Withing uses rechargeable batteries that are not replaceable by the user. That means you either send it in to have new batteries installed or buy a new unit. For that reason, I prefer user replaceable batteries.
@stylefreaks3 жыл бұрын
Yes, rechargeable is more convenient however, sooner or later, the internal battery will crap out and you will have to throw the unit away. With the Omron, you will just replace the batteries.

I agree with this, features alone should never be a reason to chose a medical grade device over accuracy. I personally own both and replace the Withings with the Omron because of accuracy issues,. The Withings started off great, but slowly got higher and higher with readings. Short of resetting the device continually for accuracy wasn't worth it. 0 issues with Omron ever regarding accurate readings. Withings had me worried that my medication wasn't working... And HBP is bad enough without that stress on top of it 😂

Rechargeables have batteries that will die in a few years usually. And sometimes things are made so that it's difficult to change the rechargeable battery and people wind up chucking the whole machine. I bought both. The OMRON evolve first then the WithIngs BP Connect.I bought the Withings due to my physician saying that a smaller cuff could give a false read but I since noticed that the withings gave back similar results as the OMRON. So it’s me. As far as price the Omron is now 59.99 at Bestbuy and the Withings was $100 but I was able to get it for $54 at bestbuy because of points. As far As the OMRON I feel the cuff is more rigid but It is easier and quicker to get on. The battery replacement is annoying though. Also you can delete no results in the Omron Connect app if you need to. The Withings I like for the cuff is adjustable and it’s compact and it’s is rechargeable. Also I like where the Withings automatically sends the results to the app where the Omron doesn’t. Overall both are great but I feel the Withings is the best one.

Amazon sells freaking everything. I highly doubt they have some elaborate network of drones with multiple fake accounts employed to write glowing reviews on everything amazon sells. There's plenty of negative reviews as well as positive reviews, and often a mixture of each for the same product. You can gauge the veracity of a review simply by reading it. If it seems "canned," ignore and move to the next. Calling people sheep is not edgy, it's lame. I'm owning both the Omron Evolv and the Withings BPM connect rigth now for a comparison. And am comparing. As I have the Withings scale the app works great also with the BPM all data. A big up for the Withings' software and freedom (direct wifi upload and great dashboard). Omron has a poor app and no online dashboard. But then again the Omron is very consistent with the measurements. BPM connect : when playing with the height on my arm and pressure of the band it varies a lot. Omron has a better fitting technology and even says a code E1 if it's too loose or E4 error if you move to much and such. I keep both of them right now to compare and will decide after one week which one to keep. So at the moment Omron: wins on trustworty data (consistency) en Withings wins on software (mobile/dashboard). As Omron is a big player in the Bp market I guess they will improve the App soon. Note: sharing data on Android is a bit frustrating : Health mate won't sync BP tot Google Fit nor Samsung Health (only steps). I like to have different perspectives on data. Will update soon.

It's actually a good thing that they use replaceable batteries and not an internal rechargeable battery. Simply because all rechargeable lithium batteries deteriorate in a couple of years, at some point they just don't hold a charge and you'd have to either send it for replacement battery or buy a new one. Having them use regular replaceable batteries makes them be a device that will last for years if not decades (if everything else works fine in them). You can always use rechargeable AA/AAA NiMH batteries.

I got both the Withings BPM Connect and the new Omron Platinum monitors and did a side by side on them to determine which one I was going to keep. I have to admit, after your review and handling the BPM unit, I was in love! Small, portable, rechargeable, good app that interfaces with Apple Health, B/T and Wi-Fi, what else could you ask for? And then I started to us it and the love began to fade away. Here are my issues with the BPM: total lack of information and users guide, what we use to call “instructions”. If it is for a single user, yep, it is kind of plug and play, but still, total lack of info. And, only a 1 year warranty if you live in the USA, but 2 years if you live in Europe? There is no product registration process that I could find online so assume you have to maintain receipts and play email tag if there is an issue. And the final straw was the BPM always read a higher blood pressure than the Omron Platinum unit. I really wanted to love this and use it for travel, but I cannot depend on accuracy and readings, so back it went to Amazon today and the Omron is my daily driver, even though it is larger. But, it does more, has a 6 year warranty and was cheaper than the Withings BPM. I still like your reviews, but cannot agree with you on this after personally trying it out.

Just FYI, because I don’t know if this has changed in the time since this video was made or if anyone else has mentioned it, but (6:22) I recently bought the Omron Evolv and I’m able to delete a reading by swiping left and pressing the trashcan icon to remove it. I’ve had to do that a few times when I manually entered readings thinking the device wasn’t paired, then later I’d see that there were double entries - the ones I entered manually and the ones that were transferred from the device - so I deleted the duplicates.

How do you like the Withings one so far?

Nice talk. Thanks. I was not able to see my measurements on the Pixel phone. The devices were paired successfully but no data on the phone or website. Bluetooth and location were on. I took 6 consecutive measurements and got a 70% inconsistency of the readings with a max discrepancy of 15mmHg. I am going to return it.

This is an old video but I really hope you can answer. You said you bought rechargeable batteries for your evolve monitor by OMRON . I want to use rechargeable batteries with my OMRON evolve but the instructions say that only alkaline batteries should be used. I don’t see how using rechargeable batteries would ruin my monitor. Are you using yours with rechargeable batteries?

You did not put either BP Monitor on your arm. Both units have an alignment mark which you do not identify. Also, disability issues with either BP Monitor (elderly, stroke, partial paralysis, weakness) Nothing said about the actual use on the arm. I think this is a bogus review.

Thank you for the great reviews? Have you looked at the iHealth Neo Wireless BPM? Can you please do a review on that one?

Which one gives the more accurate reading?!?

AngelBeingAngel thanks for the comment, I see you found the pinned thread on accuracy ☺️

You mentioned to get 2 devices just to compare for accuracy. In your opinion, is it a good idea to get 2 of the same model (Omron Evolv ) to compare each other for accuracy? Or does it make more sense to get 2 different models.

Doc, Removable batteries = longer useful life of the device. All the devices with built in batteries have a very limited useful life = Till the battery fails. Thanks for the video.

Batteries are super best standard because once you have rechargable batteries you don't have to toss it in the trash because batteries don't hold charge anymore

Every BP machine says unavailable on amazon and idk why. They also have really bad reviews. I'm just gonna buy a machine locally and hope its good.

I've got a Withings scale. Great quality but really poor software. There is NO way to print pdf and send a list of the past measurements. It just gives out the last one (so total useless). My ejection depends on this feature. Can you tell me about that?

I upgraded to the withings from a Braun I check 7 after I realised it was very inaccurate.

Do you have any advice for a cheap and no frill blood pressure monitor for those who need it only for a short period? All I want is something cheap and acurrate.

Love you review! Thank you! It helped me make a decision regarding which one to buy. I went with the Withings. Just got it today....I love it......BUT.....It's not as straightforward to set up with multiple users....I'm pulling my hair trying to figure out how to do it!

Ah yea the experience could be improved for sure. Good to hear you are being proactive about your health, what gets measured gets improved!

Reasonable accuracy is everything. Blue tooth and wireless are worthless if the monitor under reads.
@triquetra011 Жыл бұрын
Devices with replaceable batteries are better (you can use rechargeable batteries). The built-in battery degrades over time.

Can you suggest a basic reliable BP monitor that's cheaper, without all the bells & whistles as I can't afford either of these. Cheers

Omron is fda approved though aren't they? Is Withings fda approved? I know from many tests and reviews that the Withings smartwatch is drastically inaccurate so I am a little untrusting of any of their other products.

I bought the Withings Connect. Also have an inexpensive Omron. I liked the Withings so much I also bought the bath scale and the smart watch. Now all my info in one app. Wish they made a blood glucose monitor.

Hi there, thanks for your excellent video. I’ve been fitted with an ambulatory monitor from my cardiologist but want a more portable device to wear to see what a usual working week is like for me. Withings looks great - do you know if it will work with my Apple Watch ?
