I quite like it also. This is an interesting watch, I like the aviation connection (I’m really interested in aviation) but I can’t decide if I’d actually like to wear it or not. Lol. Edit: the size.... its a bit too big for my taste. Lol.

Just looked this piece up on their website and I think the piece of metal underneath the 0 index is a part of the fuselage of the jet itself. Such a cool detail!

They have done this in the past with a commemorative B-17 Limited Edition piece. I think in such a case, where an actual artifact is included the Limited Edition designation is entirely legitimate. For a former US Airman, it IS a historic piece, not just a sales technique.

On 11 May 1969 a Royal Navy Phantom of 892 Naval Air Squadron set a new world air speed record between New York and London in 4 hours and 46 minutes. Makes the subsonic harrier look like slug, kinda like the watch.

I'm in the minority, I really love this watchface. Very distinct, and I find it very readable. I don't know if it'd be my every day watch if I had it, but it's fun, and I love teal enough that it'd blend into my wardrobe.

good review, kind of cool watch, the 52mm lug/lug is a bit big, also don't care for the 0 at the 12:00 position, but, all in all, $495 is fair price, it would interest me if the items I mentioned were different.

Thanks for this review. I have two "old school" AVI-8 Hawker Harriers, but this is a whole different beast. Individually, the design elements don't necessarily appeal to me, but in this combination, and with those complications, it kind of fascinates me.

Hey Jory, have you ever come across Raketa watches? That's a Russian manufacturer based in Saint-Petersburg, and they've got some interesting designs, like their Avant-Garde, Copernicus, and Malevich models. Maybe you might pick one up for a review. They don't seem to be as popular amongst the watch enthusiast community as Vostok, for example.

Great review as always. You should ask AVI-8 to send you one of their Spitfire automatics to review. Its much more of a conventional watch but is also great. Its a different take on the type B flieger. On the subject of the seconds subdial, its actually the front profile view of a harrier which is rolling in flight, and hacks too (which is a little redundant given that there are no second markers). I love this watch, but then I am an aviation nut case so it appeals.

Great Video, actually this is a limited addition recognizing the U.S. Airforce's charitable nature for the British who were feeling a little smaller due to NASA's domination of the Space Race, the Chief's of Staff instructed the provision of some Booster Jet technology to the British Aerospace industry came shortly after the English made Airliner had crashed and killed 50 or so folks, the Air Force engineers pointed out the Window Design created cabin depressurization. The English Minister of Defense was outraged and threated removing U.S. Air Force Bases from India and Ghana. The Harrier Victory over the Phantom and the French Mirage was more a Political agreement than an Air Race. The French were never so proud, and really made the best Fighter, hence the reason Israel used the Mirage instead of the U.S. Phantom or the Harrier, they sort of cooperated with the U.S. in helping the English keep a stiff upper lip!
