Quick and to the point. Not a video where the reviewer just likes listening to himself talk. Good job.

Excellent extensive, well thought out, & organized comparison video. These speakers have been reviewed by so many, but your assessment suggests how well you versed you are in articulating each speaker's strengths, weaknesses, and application. I learned more than expected.

I purchased some KEF Q150s on sale this year to use at my workstation. Love em.
@ricsim78 Жыл бұрын
Just got the KEF Q150 today, I almost got the Bowers and Wilkins 607 S2. But comparing the two, the KEF sounded better and richer to me, the B&W has a sound I would likely have to get used to (but I did like them). Just no to Klipsch, even the RP-600m II has a sound I just dislike. It does sound good with live concerts, but gets bright. So from best to worst: KEF Q150 (bought on sale $329), B&W 607 S2 (almost $700), Klipsch RP-600m II ($550-650 typically). With the price difference, you can get a better subwoofer, DAC, or amplifier.

I'm glad you found the sound you enjoy. That's the only thing matters!
@tedhersh90953 жыл бұрын
I stopped listen when you said the Klipsch had real wood veneer. Sorry, but it’s vinyl. Also, saying the Klipsch has best build quality is odd. Have you knocked on the cabinets? The KEF is far more solid than the hollow, poorly braced Klipsch.
@vinylanatomy78883 жыл бұрын
I just double checked, yes the spec says vinyl. In person it does not feel like vinyl, the grain and texture is closer to real wood veneer. Maybe that’s their durable coating or so, I can’t give you a definitive answer. And somehow that detail slips through my research, my bad. Regarding of the KEF, it is no doubt the worse build quality of the three. I’m sorry. But I do think their sound is unique and has its strength.
@canadianwildlifeservice88833 жыл бұрын
That is interesting, since the guy from GR research who redesigns crossovers for them did not think the Q150 was braced ENOUGH.

Your knowledge, experience and ability to compare properties of loudspeakers is really impressive. Thank you. Maybe your "bed" music could have been a bit softer as I found it distracting. Nevertheless a wonderful and insightful review.

I have the 606 paired with a budget Denon amp PMA520ae and to my ears they are incredible sounding before I have compared it to the Klipsch and found the BW more "hifi" sounding as you said. I'm also using the lp120x turntable and just got a vintage Denon cd player to go along with it cant wait to test it out.

you can also consider using RP600M with small power tube amp, that will be another scene of view when using them in low or mid volume in your bed room.
@vinylanatomy78883 жыл бұрын
RP600M is the best one for tube in the three for sure. What I afraid is the speaker character itself isn't suit for bed room. Thank you for the suggestion.

I have both the BW607S2 and the KEFQ150. I bought them both on sale. They have lived in an extra bedroom for 2 years now. The are run by a SMSL300 all in one. I can say the BW is warmer and muddier but in a good way. The KEF is brighter and more accurate. Overall I have left the Q150 in the room because it's a small/medium room size and I don't need to turn it up that much. The Q150 is just slightly more pleasing to my ears. I put the BW is the main room which is large. I currently run KEFLS50 in that room. They did an amazing job for their size. Of course they will not be replacing the LS50s. Room is such an important part of the equation. If you can buy any of these speakers at sale price you will not be disappointed. At full retail....hmmmm....kind of maybe I don't know.

I have myself a pairs of Jamo C93 at home and curious about upgrade to the rp-600m, but after watching your VDO, I can see it checked every boxes of the rp-600m that you just listed down: forward sounding and lively but fatigue after long listening, and also can't really enjoy much at low volume. Will definitely checkout the Kef and B&W. Thank you for the VDO, keep it up.
@vinylanatomy78883 жыл бұрын
I have not heard C93 (it’s on my radar :)) from what I heard, it’s V curve too and I think it won’t be as aggressive as 600m. What I think 600m might do better than C93 is build quality and tonality. Other aspects will need to be further tested.

What are you using for power? That makes a big difference... specially for the B&W speakers. My friend went through like 3 Amps before he got the best sound out of them. He found a hybrid integrated amp made them perform the best. So maybe mention the power you are giving the speakers and what class amp you have chosen?
@vinylanatomy78882 жыл бұрын
I used several different components to power them. From small to big: S.M.S.L DA-8s Marantz NR 1609 Crown XLS 1502 And I prefer the S607 sounds regardless of the amp I used.

As someone who has owned the RP600 I cannot share your opinion non the build quality. The faux wood design is OK,.but it was really.badly.put together with some of the foil peeling off on mine. Also, if you do the usual knock test the Klipach sounds really hollow and light.

Just heard the q350 vs the B&W and the difference is night and day with missing details on the q350 and a very weard way to loud bass
@dickydoesaudio34662 жыл бұрын
@@namelessmusik4345 I'm guessing the tweeters on the B&W are more revealing, they give the extra detail in the high frequency. As far as bass response, could that just be placement? Or is the bass just better, tighter on the B&W.

The KEF sound like a better choice for the bedroom.Because all these models are rear ported, but the KEF Q150 comes with port plugs.

My friend, 607 also came with plugs and you can choose half close or fully close the port with their plugs. IMHO, I don't like the plugged sound from most speakers. So I didn't put those into review, cheers.

Did you try out the Elac Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52? How is it with poor quality material and low volume listening?
@vinylanatomy78882 жыл бұрын
I used to have Uni-Fi UB5, haven't got a chance to try the new version. However, my current main 2channel is UF5 (the floor-standing version.) The Uni-Fi series are pretty detailed, transparent, and revealing. Its sound only gets better if you feed it with better components. From my experience with the 1st version, I like it a lot. The 2 small caveats of them are: 1. The detailed high is satisfying but can get sharp in certain situations. 2. Its sound signature is toward the polite and neutral side, which means the bass isn't strong. The floor-standing one solves this caveat. I would assume the 2nd gen should retain a somewhat similar character as the first-gen but improved. Poor quality material might not sound its best since UB5 is revealing. Low-volume listening is totally fine. Hope my thought give you some ideas. Cheers

I have a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitor v4, very neutral but perform well at high volume, not too bright in my opinion. I'm looking to upgrade and can't decide between the 3 speakers you tested and to be honest the RP600 are too large (den speakers on a shelf) so I was leaning towards the RP500. I'm a little worried that the Klipsch are "too bright" but I don't know because I can't test them anywhere. What would you recommend as a nice upgrade from the Paradigm's in something a little more dynamic but not too over the top or loud.

You are looking at $600 range, Sony tends to be cold, Yamaha neutral/plain, Marantz warm/dark. RP600m is really forward and has a strong present, you need to see how well your ear liking it first. I would pick something that’s easy returnable first and get a feeling on what direction you want to go.
