It’s a great started anvil for learning striking. I still have one I use for punching/chiseling instead of risking it on more expensive ones. Another thing you could do is weld a hardened steel plate to the top to improve its performance

I also use mine for chiseling, cut plate and drifting eyes. It's alright for the price but I think my 140 pound Arm and hammer will forever be my main shop anvil. : )

A few years ago found an old used one of these chinese anvils for 10 bucks, seems to be a bit harder than the newer ones, though yeah, still kinda soft and deforms easily. But like most Harbor Freight stuff, unless you're a pro and just for occasional use, it does what I need for a fraction of 'pro' prices. And if it needs an 'upgrade', I can always weld a piece of hardened steel to the face.

Wil it work yes. Do I recommend it no. But for the weekend warrior who likes tinker and is on a budget. It will get you started.

Put a strike anvil on it or a really thick pease of steel on it.😊

ok bought 1 4 weeks ago worked everything from a36 half inch round to 1 1/4 round stock tool steel ... is it a good anvil no. Is it a good starter yes. Teaches you hammer control allows you to practice diff tech as a noobie without potentially damaging a good anvil. ie dressing your corner radius. However omg wtf did you do to that anvil. 3 lb cross pien hammer on barely red 1 and a 1/4 round stock tool steel and no marks . That thing look like you took diff angled metal that was cold and hammered it in to the face.

These anvils are made from cast iron, for 60 dollars i can get a big chunck of steel around 200 pounds of weight from my local scrap yard, even mild non hardened steel is better (and safer) than this cast iron ASO but if you dont have a nice scrap yard like i have near my town, well make money with the iron block to buy a real anvil, i want to what you will do with a real anvil cause who ever can use this to shape hot metal have talent

Name says Forged, but it a POS Russian cast anvil. The name alone is shady sales tactics and shows the integrity they have. You would be better off getting a piece of railroad track and make a forge from it.
