@@jacquesventer3170 Yeah, mate, I don't get it. I mean, I understand, that N'kosi is more flashy, ut Mapimpi is just an extremely dependable and consistent performer, who somehow always finds ways to score tries. And he works hard to get those, comes searching for work. That's what the two best try scorers at this world cup (Josh Adams and Makazole) have in common. Mapimpi might not be the flashiest winger in the world, but he scores tries for fun, and that makes him worth his own weight in gold. Dude just goes about his business, scores tries. 14 tries in 14 international tests. Mapimpi and who else?

As an England supporter, I have to say well done to the Springboks. Wonderful performance and deserved win. My great wish of a worthy final was realised. I thought the refs had a good game too. England were just outplayed. I said before the game I wonder if there's a sucker punch coming. They programmed everyone to expect box kick box kick box kick, and how De Klerk and De Allende were the real danger men. Those two were barely mentioned in this match, and SA put it wide and ran the ball. Wow! Beautiful rugby. As a fan, I am delighted for Willie le Roux, who had a great game. Interested to see the comments now from my fellow England supporters. Not the ones who actually understand rugby, but the "England are going to crush them" bandwagon idiots. Suspiciously silent, I expect.

Another interesting thing that needs acknowledgement: the media and the hype has been all about how the Springboks, and especially their forwards, are a bunch of huge monsters. Actually, man for man, SA pack was smaller than England today. Smaller than Wales last week as well. Lessons learned today: 1. ignore hype, deal in facts, 2. appreciate good rugby, 3. stay with your team, even if they are beaten 4. It is just a game. The world will turn, the sun will rise, and we'll get on with it. Swing low! Shosholoza! Arigato to Japan. Rugby is the real winner.

@@badnoisebebopblackoutnetwo3348 The other guys commenting are a little off the boil and probably lacking upstairs. Van Nie Kerk yes, Caster no. Caster definitely should not compete against woman. It is sad, as Caster loves to run, but she sadly has an unfortunate genetic disability that results in a bonus. Woman and men are very similar, however Caster's physiology has left her somehow in the middle, professionally speaking. Therefore her victories are empty as they are contentious - and they should be, all I hope is for her happiness. Netball being African Champions is them performing to their expected level - Well done. Ladies football would need to win to make a mark. Banyana shouldn't be underdogs in Africa.

moon rabbit I don’t think rugby pundits outside SA truly understand the importance of dynamic power and brute force. That’s why they were all bigging up England. Gatland understood it and had Wales play the right game against you guys. It nearly worked, but he got slated for boring rugby by UK media. I loved the semi as it was a true test of pure rugby for full 80 minutes. And I thank your team for the way they did a number on poor old England - I’m still smiling

Stephen Davey it was a great and tense dogfight. A real test and probably only understood and appreciated in our respective countries. We in Wales may be limited but we play to our strengths. Okay, my nerves and heartbeat steadied by now, and I had some time to reflect on the game. So, here goes. This was a match, where one of the teams had superior forwards (South Africa), and the other had better backline (England). Whoever managed to force their style would eventually win the match. It would be easy to say, that players like Tuilagi, May, Watson, Ford, Farrell and Slade did not show up, and neither did the traditional stalwarts like George or Itoje. But the Boks simply didn't allow them to deploy what they're good at. Multiple times, the English tried to take the ball to the line and flick it to support runners to to go through gaps. They didn't find any. Rarely did they have any ascendancy in the contact, they had some, but very little, whereas the Boks made gains almost every time they carried. This is an excellent English team, that is very physical, but not even they could beat the Boks in their own game. England needs to stretch the play and string 2-3 quick passes to find openings. But the Boks were ready for them and pure muscle matchup was always going to be a losing proposition for England. Ford was a disappointment, but the problem is, that Henry Slade (whom I rate highly) didn't really bring much change either. I doubt, that Sinckler would have made such a groundbreaking difference, even though losing him damaged English chances. The game truly broke, when the Boks weathered the English multi-phase onslaught in the Boks' 22 in the second quarter of the game. In any other match, England would have scored from that immense pressure. But the Boks prevailed and that broke England's spirit. The English realized they were not going to open the Boks up with running/passing, they realized they can't bulldoze over them (duh, right?) and they figured their only chance was kicking and set-piece, both South African specialities. Scrum really let England down, and here's where I think Sinckler wouldn't have made so much of a difference, because while he's a way better ball carrier and "handler" than Cole, he's not a remarkably better scrummager, than Cole. And while England kicked fairly well from hand, it wasn't enough of a difference to influence the match in any meaningful way. South African half backs outclassed their counterparts. Ben Youngs got dominated by Faf. He shouldn't worry too much about it, as the same thing happened to much better scrum-halves than he is (Aaron Smith). De Allende was superb once again. And Pollard showed up with a field marshal performance, and was in my view the MotM: 22 points, made more metres than anyone else, 6/7 tackles. England, once again succumbed to the hype generated by their toxic media and their media-manipulating coach, and drank a bellyful of that kool-aid only to end up on the flip side once again. I think they underestimated what an excellent team those Springboks are, and they were comprehensively and convincingly beaten in one of the most one-sided finals in history. In spite of all the respect I have for his skill and rugby intelligence, I'm so glad that Eddie Jones did not get to gloat at the end, and it was the always humble, down-to-Earth and respectful Rassie Erasmus, and the ultimate role model self-made man Siya Kolisi, who get to hoist the Cup. They made their country proud, and with it thousands of other international supporters around the World, myself included. The William Webb Ellis trophy is in the best possible hands. It was won by the World's best team, coached by the world's best coach, lead by the most inspiring captain, whose story is like from a movie. The Springboks have written history in multiple ways today, and they deserve all the accolades that have, and still will come their way. They will make the World Rugby Annual Awards a domestic South African affair, as they should sweep the main trophies (PotY, TotY, CotY). Congratulations, Springboks with your most deserved victory!

Well done to SA from a disappointed England fan! You guys did to us today what we did to the ABs last week. Complete forward dominance, shut down any possibility of getting on the front foot. I kind of felt it coming when England were behind and decided to kick penalties, the game was already tipping to SA from an early point and I thought if we don't get a try, it's not our day. There is always the narrative of "keep the scoreboard ticking over" which I hate - I always think a penalty kicked is potentially 4 points missed out on, a penalty missed is potentially 7 points missed out on and a try doesn't only give you 5 or 7 points, but also a massive psychological edge. Maybe one day England will adopt a different attitude with that. This game was also the scenario which I saw from the beginning but didn't happen until now - when England get a bit lost for ideas, it all goes sour pretty quick. It's a shame because we left some classy and creative players at home. But in the end, most importantly, well done SA, it was a thoroughly deserved win!
