i remember playing this on a 2ds. if you know the game well you might see it coming, but that puzzle where you had to close the screen to print something. i was stuck on it before discovering that sleep mode that i have never used in my entire life

I agree with most arguments, but i never had the discontent of re-visiting phantom temple. I felt more limited by the timer more than the physical space itself, so when i got more sand i was excited to go back and explore things i couldn't the last time. I was honestly surpriced so many people disliked that temple. then again, i can barely remember any other temple. But i felt left out on the trading content with street pass, trading ship parts and such with other players. Noone in my home town got this game

Honestly, I love phantom hourglass, it was the first Legend of Zelda game I completed, people can say what they want. But Phantom hourglass will always be my favorite Game, Yeah The Temple Of The Ocean King is annoying but it can really fun solving the puzzles, and to me atleast I think Bellum is the best Villian, He has animalistic styles that make me love the monster. I Rate Phantom hourglass at 9/10
@blenderonly-ir7hi6 ай бұрын
Yeah phantom hourglass was my childhood Zelda game. I loved it to death. The temple of the ocean king never bothered me, rather than it being a burden you always have to go back to, it felt the exact opposite for me. Since it was the only Zelda game I had (besides spirit tracks) it was THE place to go back to. It was almost like a playground for me to mess around it, finding faster ways to get through levels, messing around and finding secrets and stuff. Very nostalgic game for me.

I'm close to finishing my first playthrough of PH and I must say it's an amazing game. Just add a couple of shortcuts/ warp points within the temple of the Ocean King and it's damn close to perfection!
@GameEssays2 жыл бұрын
Glad you're enjoying it, it's prob the most underrated Zelda
@JustAnotherJames3 Жыл бұрын
There's actually a ton of shortcuts that are only accessable using items you get throughout the game! For example, you can skip the whole Triforce room with the grappling hook by making a rope between two torches and then slingshotting into the room above.

I’d say somewhere between 3-3.5 would be my ranking. The music wasn’t bad, it was just used in too many places (especially the dungeons all having the same theme). They really missed an opportunity there.

11:18 Me, who played this game like 1 million times when I was little: Best strategy for the boomerang (or grappling hook) is to activate is with L or R and use it quickly, only drawing a short line where the enemy is.
@GameEssays3 жыл бұрын
Didn't realize that. I'll keep that in mind for Spirit Tracks!
@Labyrinth1010 Жыл бұрын
I will say this about the music: I don’t think it’s necessarily bad or bland. I think the problem is unlike other Zelda games, they use the same music for each dungeon. The dungeon theme is fine. For one dungeon. Not for 7 (or whatever it is). They were lazy. They should have switched them up.
@Labyrinth1010 Жыл бұрын
Wow. I can’t believe just how much of your review I agree with. I just finished the game for the first time. I’m on my way to completing all of the mainline games. I have around 4 to go. Looking forward to seeing your other Zelda reviews!

This game really is a real charmer. I think it's underrated and your review, though fair, is a little on the harsh side. I would never call this one of the best Zelda games, but I would always recommend a play through of it to any fan. I would not say the same for spirit tracks. That game blows.

Underrated? Yes, absolutely! PH had some of the most intuitive and brilliant puzzles throughout its dungeons and islands. There’s so much exploration and wonder through its story. It may not have the depth of TWW, but the game is certainly neck and neck and perhaps better than Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.

This is a really good review - I feel like my view of Phantom Hourglass is somewhat skewed as it was my first ever Zelda game (the start of a love affair with the series), but on replay value it doesn't hold up beyond the nostaglia alone. Whenever I've replayed, I've found the same thing as you that the Temple Of The Ocean King is super frustrating and repetitive, and Bellum is indeed lacking. I get what the devs were going for with a whole squid vs whale thing with Bellum and the Ocean King, but... it didn't really make any sense? Bellum's name comes from the latin word for war, but then it's just....and evil squid??? what???
@babyleafsaladd53223 жыл бұрын
@Katie Lewis yeah, this is true, but it still feels somewhat underwhelming - if Bellum is supposed to be a force of nature, they could have leaned into that theme a lot more rather than just sorta vaguely gesturing to “evil malice creature but it’s also a squid and also it’s name means war I guess”

First, I very enjoy the concept 🙂 2nd, even I never finish PH, I like it, not a Great Zelda, but a nice side Zelda. 3rd, did you going to redo a video about Zelda II for this new series ? 4th and finale, you start with a Portable episode, I recommand to do a Home Console zelda, like A link to the past 👍.

To me here are the assets of PH +Good puzzles, the DS titles are kinda overlooked on that but they have S tier puzzles compared to other games +Decent dungeons except one +Bosses are good +Linebeck and Ciela are good side characters +Minigames are decent And here are its flaws : -Tetra becomes a useless Sakura Haruno -Temple of Ocean King and doing the same floors several times is just cringe -Touch controls are just not adapted to combat -Side quests are meh -The soundtrack is just way too lazy, same theme for bosses, same theme for dungeons, same theme for islands, just one or two exception, minish cap, the oracles and even links awakening are older and yet did so much better on music.
