the most underrated zelda game is still phantom hourglass yeah it could have used more the worst/mid parts of it's ost for most of the game and yeah the temple of the ocean king can be annoying, the game outside the sea and a few exceptions kinda looks bad but it's still really fun imo.

Something about the train tracks also acting as the seal for the demon king is really nice. It’s just a bizarrely efficient system Also put some respect on Malladus’s name. At least he actually has a good boss fight as opposed to his definite previous incarnation
@lozofspielereien
@lozofspielereien Жыл бұрын
A seal that encompasses the entire world makes me feel like we only got to see a fraction of his potential. As such I feel like his boss fight is riding (heh) more on its story and music. Gameplaywise - which seems more important to me when talking about the fight specifically - the fight on the Demon Train and then protecting Zelda were both not enjoyable, while the actual fight was okay, but several other bosses were more unique (like when also utilizing info on the top screen like for Fraaz and even more often in Phantom Hourglass). And while not as unpleasant as combat with two characters was to me in other circumstances, it's basically just getting Link and Zelda on opposite sides so Zelda can shoot Malladus. If you are rating the entire finale, I would agree that it's good. If you only rate the fight itself, I'm inclined to disagree.

@michaeldavis9190
@michaeldavis9190 Жыл бұрын
Spirit Tracks is depressingly underrated. I honestly think it probably has the best final boss for how cinematic it is. You and Zelda have been through everything together, and you are working together to finish your quest. Malladus says he can lay waste to New Hyrule in only a small amount of time, and we have no reason to believe he's bluffing. It's about making your whole journey together not be for nothing, it's about avenging your ally you just watched DIE. I can only think of like two other examples where we see someone die in a Zelda game, they're the guard in Ocarina of Time and Mikau in Majora's Mask. It's about Link and Zelda genuinely caring for each other and wanting to protect each other. It shows her growth as a character too, at first she didn't want to help even though she was invulnerable, but in the end, she ends up helping even though she's flesh and blood and can easily die in this battle. She even goes as far as to help you deal the final blow. It is also the only proper ending to a timeline. They move on from Hyrule, leaving it and the Triforce behind, which I think could have Buddhist symbolism of escaping the cycle of death and rebirth. They finally overcome the final evil, and get to live on in peace in their new kingdom.

For some reason, this game has one of the most hype and enticing climax in this series even if the stakes arent that big. Even if it wasn't, that final battle theme alone puts most others to shame, and it made it one of my favorite pick-up-and-play games
@LoinkLoink
@LoinkLoink Жыл бұрын
I'd argue the stakes are as high as they could be. Malladus unlike Demise or Ganondorf does not seek to rule the world-he wants to destroy it all, something he vows to do with the little time he has left. If Link and Zelda fail to stop him, then he very well may be capable of such a thing.

From REVENGE! To an actual Train Boss Fight to a Phantom Zelda section to subverting the usual “play tennis with the boss” by framing it as you protect Zelda from Malladas’ volley of fireballs. To playing the theme of the game which changes how you’ll hear it forever. To a tag-team final boss emblematic of their previous incarnation except it feels so much better because you’ve gotten to know this duo so much more.

Such a shame, really, since both ST and MC are in my Top5 fave Zelda games.
@lozofspielereien
@lozofspielereien Жыл бұрын
Capcom's contributions really got overlooked. Heck, if you separated the "Oracle games" into the two different games they actually are, they would form the lowest selling games together with MC. The Oracle games get especially overshadowed by Link's Awakening despite both of them improving on the gameplay and featuring the most complex level and puzzle design in the entire series - in a good way imo. On the 3DS e-shop LA had 5 times as many ratings as OoS and OoA COMBINED, very likely reflecting the attention they received and the recent remake made them just even more forgotten. Also: 2 milion sales doesn't seem that low if that's about the number that most games had (even if you could argue that we're talking about the most sold handheld of all time). Actually, it's almost the same number as Majora's Mask which is much more people's favorite. 2D gameplay games on weaker hardware for their time (handhelds) are generally overshadowed by the more immersive 3rd/1st person console releases.

As of the videos release, I finished my first playthrough of spirit tracks, insane timing with this video! While I do agree that the game felt quite large with the tracks/station exploration, the overworld felt pretty empty to me. I mean sure there were enemies, train demons, bunnies, dozens of fetch quests that would unlock stations or more bunnies, but that usually consisted of routing myself from point A to B and occasionally tapping the screen. The lokomos, princess zelda, and temples were all pretty fun, but I just felt that the overworld was missing something. Personally I play zelda games with the intention of 100% completion, perhaps with my next playthough my perspective will change if I play just for the story. Overall, good game and great video! Please make more zelda/non pokemon videos although those are always entertaining!

yeah the temples (including tower of spirits) bosses, characters and music are p good, the game looks much better then phantom hourglass graphics-wise too. The story is great but however after the first playthrough I don't care as much, so because of that if the game is tedious it's much more annoying. They still have the controls from phantom hourglass, most of the controls are ok but pointing at the game to move link is like why, why do you keep that? Most of the game is built off tedium and it really makes a lot of the gameplay experience very boring.

the entire game is tedious, most of the sidequests are just take shit here or take person here, train even at max speed is slow af, there's enemy trains that can kill you in one hit (I know you can kill them in the last area I'm not counting that). There's annoy ass blow into the mic minigames for like the first 3 fucking temples, they're tedious harder then they should be and grind the games past to a complete stop for like a hour.

Spirit Tracks is one of my favs due to the Demon Train fight and theme! Funny thing actually, few years back I had a dream of what I imagined we’d get in Breath of the Wild, or it’s eventual sequel. When BOTW was know and we were seeing things that made it seem like all the time lines converged, I thought there’d be a boss rush of several boss fights from across the series, in BOTW’s Hyrule, kinda like how Zant’s fight in Twilight Princess has the player warp around the different boss arenas. In my dream, one of the fights was Link coming out of a portal, suddenly riding the Spirit Train in the Dark Realm, and the Demon Train theme kicking in as it suddenly pulled up next to you, as blue lightning crackles far off in the distance. The graphics gave the trains this sleek and glossy polish, like in the levels of Super Mario 3D World when it rains, and the camera is covered in rain drops. My brain doesn’t always register dreams AS dreams until I wake up, so it was a bummer when I came to and realized such a remastered fight did not exist. 😩😅 I wonder how such a fight maybe *could* work with making a makeshift train with the Autobuild feature on the go.

Thank you for covering this game! It needs so much more love especially since imo Zelda might be even better here than Midna in Twilight Princess. This video deserves more likes.

My first ever Zelda game, criminally underrated, would love to see a remake or a remaster of this gem sometime in the future.

It's kinda nice playing spirit tracks now and seeing all the refrences they took from this game and use in other games

i love this game so much. It was actually my first zelda game ever, i got it when i was 6 for my birthday but was never able to finish it until i turned 17. It therefore has so much sentimental value as i started it like 10000 times. Maybe people don't like it too mich because it's also a bit harder than you normal average zelda game, because of the touch screen thingy. But man i just love it so much, incredible. It's always left out in reviews what saddens me a bit, but thabk you for your video!

Spirit Tracks is such a good game. As a Kid, it always made me sad, when people hated on it for no reason...

First Zelda game I ever beat and still one of my favs. Recently found out there’s a mod that lets you control Link with the D pad so that’s cool.

My favorite Zelda game is Twilight Princess. It's more linear than Breath of the Wild, which I'm more comfortable with. It was the first Zelda game I ever played, so I have nostalgia for it. It's a Wii game that doesn't focus too much on motion controls, and you can turn into a wolf and I love playing as non-human animals.

It’s the most epic traditional Zelda and has the best dungeons in my opinion. Playing it on Wii U is best but it’d be amazing to have a switch port.

@@chaosenforcerdhm969 Yeah. The only motion controls on the Wii version are swinging the Wiimote to swing the sword

5:21 Currently playing through Phantom Hourglass (and hopefully this game later) on an emulator. The one I'm using actually allows you to activate the mic by assigning a keybind to it, and the touch-screen controls actually get a lot easier than a mouse if you have a wacom tablet.
