With your videos, I feel like I am not alone in learning new languages. In fact I am a little anxious in learning Korean language today because among my friends and family members I am the only one interested in becoming a polyglot. I feel like everyone around me don't think that I can make it and so I'm also afraid that I will not make it. Nevertheless I will still continue. Here's a tip direct the conversation from the start. So that you're practicing what your learning. Tell them you want yo practice phrases. Or just start talking and say then to lead the conversation. You can work vocabulary words into phrases. For example my hobbies are Working out at the gym or if they ask the gym.......... let's say recently you learned the word lifestyle in your target language. Add to that it's a lifestyle to work that new word into conversation to practice. Don't carry on with small talk too much. Because that isn't pressing you further in speaking. If you do that you'll stay a. A beginner level. Ask or initiate more meaningful conversation. Now if they direct it in a more meaningful way then just go with that.

Thanks for this walk through! I hadn't paid much attention to the Learn tab and I also stopped using the search tab because people wouldn't respond. Maybe I'll try again with a better intro. And maybe I'll even record an audio intro now that I can pronounce Korean a bit better! I've been using the premium version since last April. I liked being able to hide my age because Koreans are really weird about talking to people older than them... I'm quite a bit older and it hinders the conversations when they know. But I decided to cancel premium because it seemed silly to pay just for hiding my age and translations. I actually found that as my Korean got better I needed the translations less. Now when I don't understand I just copy it and pop it into Papago for a quick translation. It's happening less and less these days ☺️

Learning Mandarin I currently use both HelloTalk & Tandem, and overall I think HelloTalk is better. As a comparison, HelloTalk users tend to be more serious language learners compared to Tandem which is almost overwhelmingly active. Within two days on Tandem I had roughly 80 people message me and I would lose hours chatting on there in only my native language. It was fun, but less productive to my goals. Using HelloTalk I have to be much more active myself otherwise it would just be silent. The gender mix on Tandem has been very even, which is a positive. HelloTalk however is more boy to girl / girl to boy in my opinion. At the end of the day both have been (and are) beneficial. It would seem that native Mandarin speakers use Tandem much more, with feedback suggesting that HelloTalk is more active with users seeing to hook up, not learn another language. I will likely continue to use both until I settle to a few really strong partners to learn from.

@@DavedSitt Yeah that's probably why, I wish the country just makes the dialect less frowned upon as an official formal language, but this will never happen unfortunately because Arabs are conservative and don't want anything to replace the MSA as the official written language
@DavedSitt4 жыл бұрын
@@Khal_dude Yeah it's really challenging; in order to be considered fluent in Arabic, one needs to learn two languages. I wish there were more people advocating for dialectical Arabic.

Hi every one, I want to share my views about the usage of HelloTalk app, we can see/use any app in either ways, its depend on our way of usage it mainly, some where or at some extend with out our mistake we got to interact with wrong people, just avoid them by not responding or even u can block them, based on my experience I found it more helpful, I have been using this app from last 3 months, in initial 2 month I never find any one worthable there, keep on waiting patiently I got 2 to 3 best partners, as I am Indian, I got in touch with 1 native English speaker and the remaining 2 are in same like me , they are also learning English, so I interact with all three based on our free time, finally I had a chance to help my team mates who r learning telugu and my native speaker also helped me, but one thing I observed is we should thnk before blamming native speakers or others, why should they spend their own time for us, at the same time they are also learning Spanish, French, Japanese, Thai....I am mentioning this point because I observed many one upset with no timely response from native speaker, native speakers are too good but they used to respond based on our profile weight like valid pic, name, and moment section. Any one who support me please like my comment and any one who learns or helps me to improve my English, please comment . Are are welcome be patience and be sincere are very important, all the best....

I have a question! To speak with other people you have to speak the language a little bit or you can be a total beginner?

Hi Lindie, thanks for the video~! You've inspired me to go back to the app. I just have a question.. if you've been using the free version for so long, you've been just switching your target languages right? I've just switched it for me and I'll see how it goes!~ The downside is that I can only teach my native language which really limites the search because not so many people learn it haha I found zero Chinese people registered there and living in my city so I guess I gotta stick to online talks :'D

Thanks for the review! I’ve started to use it recently but I haven’t used all these features yet. Also it’s been a bit difficult to find people who would like to learn my first language I think.

Hello, i recently downloaded this, because i’m going to South Korea end of this month. I’m staying for 3 months + so i thought it would maybe be nice to learn a couple “common” phrases. I know basic stuff already like: “Hello, no, yes, over there” etc. I don’t get how “moment” tab works. Can anyone see my “moment” post, or is this only people that follow me? Also should i consider buying VIP instead, it looks like you can translate english text to korean voice? Is that a VIP only feature? Sorry for all the questions, nice video :).

great review but I don´t understand the language limit for VIP´s

Is it still a good idea for to download the app even though I have just begun learning korean. For example, I’m using TTMIK books to study and I’m only on level 2. Is that enough to have a conversation or should I wait till I’m at a higher level?

Hello, i was wondering if you could help with when should this app be incorporated in our study sessions and for how long to be using the app during one session so it doesn't slow progress from our other study references i.e Mango languages study session and trying to incorporate HelloTalk. i hope that makes sense?

Have you ever tried Tandem before? I've always preferred Tandem over HelloTalk, although I've used both off and on.

Well I'm in. I have been looking for a "find English partners" platform that looks secure and trustworthy about my data. After watching this video and others talking about HelloTalk I convinced myself that this is the choose one. So, I'll see you there language learners. I'm from Ecuador, y native language is Spanish and well... I really like the idea to learn English (specially because I like to program and do others thing using this language 😅), if you need a Spanish native partner here I am. Hasta luego y gracias!!

I like hello talk but the only annoying this is when you post something I get so many messages in one day it’s hard to respond to all messages. And most of the time I am teaching instead of learning 😂😂 I want a turn to speak your foreign language to
