Just hid some pipes in my kitchen last week! Anyone in an old NYC apartment probably knows and resents the ugly gas meter on the wall as much as I do. Wasn’t too hard to find a cabinet from Home Depot that matched the builder grade ones in my kitchen, and I just slapped that thang up to cover the ugly meter. I mean it kind of looked like the robot emoji which was kinda cute but still not pretty. Now just looks like another cabinet with some extra storage!Highly recommend!

Paige, one of my favorite parts of your videos is how chaotic your description of things is 😂 I spend the whole video shouting out the words for things while typically agreeing with you 100%. Off the top of my shitty pregnancy memory: The coffee table is chevron, not herringbone which has overlap. The wood with the holes is called a pegboard. The faux stone vessel is paint mixed with baking soda, baking powder or literal dirt. The all provide different results.

The track shelves were mine! For anyone interested in doing the same thing: The track shelving and brackets were actually from Home Depot, they’re normally sold in the areas with garage storage or closet storage solutions. The 70 inch tracks are $15 and each bracket was $6. I used standard common wood boards from the lumber section (just inspect them to make sure they’re straight and not warped). I’m an engineer so I used a free version of autoCAD to plan everything out and calculate how much wood I would need but a pencil and paper and tape measure would do the same job. To cover the entire wall like that, the cost of the supplies, tool rental, wood stain and finish was under $500. Another thing to note is if you’re renting, closet maid has a slightly more expensive version of this kind of track hardware, but you hang the vertical tracks off of one horizontal track that you screw into the wall with toggle bolts (these are way more secure than standard drywall anchors). Hanging everything on a single horizontal track will make fixing everything when you move out much easier.

I honestly prefer sticking with talking about interior design because it's definitely a big interest of mine and you honestly stand out amongst everyone on KZbin. Maybe try another channel for other topics or if you want to do two videos a week, maybe one day is interior design and another day is for other topics? Just brainstorming. Really enjoyed this video as I totally agree with you on DIYs being in danger of looking too "crafty" and cheap. :P

You generally cover a wide range of topics and that keeps things interesting and not repetitive, so go for a 2x a week schedule it if you want! Personally, I think the ideal video length depends on the topic - I'd say don't worry too much and just go with what feels natural. I don't mind you covering other topics as long as they're related to creativity/design, opinions or maybe even like a really chill vlog (like your dinner party vid with Kate was really sweet and nice to watch). I like that you don't get TOO personal on your channel. I feel like some KZbinrs spill a little too much of their drama online and that kind of weirds me out. But that's just me, you should talk about whatever you want! Go ahead and sob on camera, bash your ex and talk about gross medical conditions if you so desire, I'll probably watch anyway!

Oh sweet, the kitchen pegboard is mine. I got weirdly excited when I saw it in the thumbnail. Am I internet famous now? (Answer: no.) If you can swing 2x videos a week without burning out, that would be cool. But burnout is real! When it comes to length, I prefer what feels natural to suit the content itself over watching a video that's obviously trying to hit a specific run time. It's kinda terrible that creators are beholden to chasing the youtube algorithm in order to be "successful." Also! The latest season of the podcast Articles of Interest is about the history of the Ivy fashion style (AKA prep) and it touches on The Official Preppy Handbook. The host Avery Trufelman has a great, dry sense of humor and the show is really well produced. Highly recommend.

I have the hardest time getting through any video longer than 10 minutes in one fell swoop, but I came home from shopping (so exhausting for me) got some sweet potato chips, globe grapes and a protein drink, sat down on the bed and checked out my subscriptions, and when this video was done, I said "Oh NO!" That's a compliment. I only do that with you and Lone Fox, but with him, it's just that he's so danged cute. With you, I don't know, I just like watching and listening to you ramble on like you do. I've lived in my rental apartment for 7 years, and next year, I have permission to completely remodel it as long as I undo it when I leave. I may never leave. i'm 70 years old, and this apartment is worth so much more than I pay for it. In fact, the new tenants have to pay about $120 more a month than I'm paying. I love it here, so I watch remodel videos to get ideas of what to do to this tiny little 520 SF space, that honestly, looks sort of trashy at present.

I'll watch anything and everything you post bcs I'm an obsessed longtime subscriber haha however my feedback would be: 1- yes this format is great, love seeing what real people do/their houses projects and your comments 2- I think lengthwise anything between 10-20mins is perfect, much shorter doesn't cover any decent work break and much longer is like, ok this could have been 2 videos 3- 2x a week would be perfect, I feel like I have to wait a little too long for them 4- I would love to see other topics, although interiors is what I'm here for fashion is also great and general curation of cool things / music, content, books, why not, I think most of us value your taste and would enjoy more of it! The only thing I don't enjoy as much is the less structured, vlog style stuff but that's personal - I prefer getting some clear information... but I'd still leave it in the background for the aesthetic and company Love u and ur work! X

These were fun. I think I liked the kitchen tools thing best, and the tv unit is great. I generally like to hide TV, though do like that some flat screens have art or photo screen savers now. Unfortunately I’m too busy right now to attempt DIY stuff, and also feel they can sometimes look cheap if you don’t have strong skills. Twice a week would be amazing! And 30 min is a great length. Long enough to go in-depth; short enough to leave time to cook dinner 😊 As for venturing into other topics…I’d keep it “decor-adjacent.” While it’s nice to get a window into other parts of a YTer’s life (and fits the YT “community” algorithm), venturing too far astray can lose the plot. Another YTer I watched a lot veered off into her dating life, personal issues, etc, and while I can relate to it all, I come here to learn, not hear about relationship issues that I’ve gone through, too. There are other YT channels for that 🙂 I’d love more insights into your prop-styling career and tips, personally…

Yes please, to twice a week. Plus, I like to listen to you; are you on drugs?! Of all my Designers on KZbin, you are honestly my favorite. Your opinions are in sync with mine, and I love your general attitude. Damn, the weird thing is I am 71, but I get you. Decorating and creating a wonderful home environment is continuous; a house that is 'done' and never changes is just sad. Sail on!

The key to a good DIY is that you make the thing the way the thing is actually made (using the proper techniques and materials.) Bad DIYs are usually trying to approximate/cheat the level of quality---- which is almost always going to fail (fake ceramic, cheap wood.)

Love you for interior design but if you want to talk about other things, do it. I prefer videos 30 min or less but the occasional longer one is good too. Sometimes a subject takes more time. I love some of the projects you show … wish I could afford to give up the space for a pedestal sink. They are so classic. I liked the painted lampshade, pleated lampshade (not handy myself so mine might look a wreck), small sink cabinet, tapestry, framed art (I have framed greeting cards a few times … when they are wonderful art) and shelves. Printing via Blueprint is a great idea.

So as a heads up, the preppy handbook was meant to be satire. It's really funny but like the hipster handbook that came out in like 2002, 30 years later, it's meant to gently mock, not be a how to guide. If you enjoy that, I also suggest "Class" by Paul Fussell, which is also mocking in tone but makes fun of everyone and discusses home decor.

In India people are obsessed with covering their TV. It was such a trend back then that every home used a fabric with designs to cover the TV & I remember growing up my mom covered the TV screen with a very pretty hand-embroidery white fabric to avoid the dust on the screen. She even covered the top of microwave with embroidery fabric & I do too and think it looks very pretty. I wish I could share a picture in here.

Dear Paige, You don't hate DIYs per se. You hate when things are copy pasted from pinterest without any creativity. And I love that about you. When you say you don't like DIY, because they appear cheap. It sounds like you don't appreciate creativity. Which is not true I know. Coz you are the proponent of hanging original art even by an emateur. I think you should add that in your speech. I would really love that.

Def not too much content…20-25 minutes is great….twice a week is excellent. Your sharing or discussing random topics adds to the entire format and vibe. Random inclusion is fun. So enjoy your videos…platforms. Ty.

You're interesting, so I like hearing what you have to say because I've found that aside from being interesting - I love your values. I love your appreciation for old and unique things - art - rather than cookie cutter wholesale. I love that you love music and that that's part of the home interior experience. (I do too.) I love that you treasure your parents and are sentimental. I pretty much agree with any rants you've had about things I consider corny or lacking depth or are just overused. I also happen to love that lamp pattern that you aren't esp fond of - haha, so it's cool when you say it for yourself, but leave it open for others. I'd watch you for a half hour, and for 20 min, and if you have something quick once in a while, I'd watch that too. I'm glad you're here & look forward to what you do with your new home. Thanks for being you Paige, and for this KZbin sharing.
