This is the sign my follicular phase needed. Feeling so inspired that I just stood in the corner of my bedroom for fifteen straight minutes and silently stared at everything. My husband is concerned because he knows something's coming. Looking forward to the kitchen version of this and giving my mans an anxiety disorder.

hack for the expensive pillows: go to a store, get nice fabric you like, pick out a nice pillow shape and choose some design accents and either learn sewing or go to a friend who does and ask nicely. Mother of a babe here! The nursery shaming online is REAL lol. Artwork shouldn't be hung on a wall adjacent to a crib, BUT. If you look, it's on a recessed wall about 1 foot away from crib. I think that is totally fine. The parents are also obv into safety given they have a legit-grade monitor hanging above the crib. You were justified in fighting online w/ this stranger ahhaha. Thanks for sharing nursery inspo! For mine, I made my own artwork of a landscape. Super cheap and a creative way to channel my nesting instincts - knowing my son will have artwork I made him forever is so much better than buying a generic nursery print online. Can't wait to see what you do for your little one(s) when the time comes!

@@Caroline_Winkler When you become a mom, everyone offers you unsolicited advice/criticism, but it's nothing we women haven't experienced since childhood! I think you will set good boundaries in the proper time and am sure you'd be super protective of your kids' privacy and your own maternal sanity some day. Just based on how you protect your dating privacy, you've got a good head on your shoulders. You don't owe anyone that side of you if you don't wish to share it! Prayers/love to you!

Hey Caroline - sitting in the flat I’ve just moved into by myself as a single twenty something guy surrounded by full packing boxes and work to do. I’ve been anticipating this move for a long time and have been trying to make sure my home will feel comfortable, creative, calming and like mine after having lived in places that have sapped my energy for years. Tonight I was really run down after a difficult few days of work and moving, and wondering where to find the motivation to keep unpacking boxes. Started watching this video and instantly wanted to get back on my feet and keep at it. Few other people in my life really care about this sort of thing but I’m finding an enjoyment in decor and design recently after never really feeling drawn to it before, and just sampling the energy and passion you have for this really reminded me what I’m working towards. Thankyou for that and for the inspo!!

Sometimes I used to dream of being on my own when I had moments of feeling overwhelmed with the girls and feeling isolated in a new country. Fast forward 20 years and now i am an empty nester minus an ex hubby and now I am finally living alone. Life is a constant cycle of evolution and learning to be happy in yourself along the way. The low times really ground you and make you a stronger person. As a new subbie, you really are a breath of fresh air and you remind me of myself right now but 51 not 31. Learning to live alone. I PURCHASED a NEW couch to put in front of my bed-- just so my 2 tall dogs would have a place to sleep, but still be close to us. A double bed does not fit 2 adults and 2 big, beautiful dogs. Every day, I wake to see them look over the top of the couch at us, with their sweet brown eyes that say good morning. Dogs are so pure. Agree. The only thing I’d say is carefully think about having 2 tone walls. After living with orangey TnG half way up the yellowy cream walls, I’ve painted the whole room white. This felt like adding 4” to the height. Then I put the curtains just under the crown moulding and that added another foot of height. I now stand taller in here but beforehand the ceiling was closing in on me. Love the voices. When my kids were little and I got sick of my own voice, I started singing the instructions. ❤

I look for gorgeous sheets, silky duvets, low lighting, somewhere to sit and take off my clothes, shoes, a soft rug to dig my feet in. And velvet pillows. Hahaha. I counted maybe 7 or 8 velvet pillows in these inspo photos. However, point taken, world. Stop going to sleep in unbeautiful spaces. This is your dream time. Make your fantasies come true. This is exactly what I needed. About to renovate my home and was stuck on what to do with my bedroom. THANK YOU for this video because now I know exactly what I'm going to do! Would love to see either Kitchen or Living room next!

Love this! Can the next episode be about bathrooms... and how to pick a design that is personal but also stand the test of time?

Gosh you are a gift sent from heaven for me right now. We are moving into our own house and we will be free to do whatever. I know I want to go crazy. I am very creative but I have no clue about design. I was scared to go bold what knew I wanted to go bold. I already knew I would like to make the ceiling colorful of our bedroom since it is tiny and only our bed will fit. So it will be a room full of bed and ceiling. From your videos I gather so much knowledge. Thank you! ❤

I agree with you about the sofa against a bed. I hate it. It looks so weird and many designers do it. 🙄

OK, this might be one of my faves so far: chill, but fascinating and I felt like I was learning a bunch. PLUS . . . "natural light might be what's keeping me from ending it all". Exactly. Also, just for the record, I enjoy the voices. The Voices have some pretty good ideas.😉 And finally, speaking of an accent color that makes the scene pop, the cute red sweater highlights your lovely gray-green eyes that I had never noticed after watching ALL your videos. Nice tough. Bravo! Do it again. How about home office inspo? Dang! my office is just a bin of work.

I applaud you for having ever gotten into only one fight on the internet. That is some serious restraint right there. Also, love the eclectic mix of styles you showed. I, too, need to get out of my comfort zone when I look at design inspo images. My new rule is: if I feel a tightening in my chest from a looking at a photo, I'm probably on to something. If it continues, I will stop looking and go to the hospital.

This video has helped me so much today! Over the last few weeks I have come to the realization that I won't be moving from my very small rental condo for the foreseeable future. So I had decided earlier in the week that I will invest in some decor to enhance the 'white box' that I call home. I love that you explain what to look for, how to breakdown what components you love, etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh oh! When you do choose to do kitchens, can you include the little dining space that is part of so many kitchens today? I mean how to make that cohesive with the kitchen itself?

The really big headboards like the one shown in at around 8:35 are kind of neat in that they act like a rug does on the floor for defining a space. Like, "Hello, this is the nighttime space where we sleep but also have places to put our books or phones as we hunker down for the night, and this giant headboard is showing you where that space is." It's basically acting as a vertical rug.

Feng Shui consultant apprentice here. There are a couple simple things you can do to purify your bed (and I reckon you have nothing to lose by trying them out!). Firstly, leave a bowl of salt and rice on top of your bed for the day (or overnight if you happen to be out). Toss the salt and rice away afterwards. Secondly, waft burning incense around the bed frame and then walk outside of the apartment with the incense still burning. Once outside, you can extinguish the incense and discard it (don’t bring it back inside). Doing both of these methods will thoroughly cleanse any residual energy from the previous owner.

Absolutely loved this video. The way you think about design is so intentional and clear. I would have never been able to identify the strengths of each space and what strategies I should apply to my own space without your insight. Your compassion for each person who’s space you show and appreciation for the style they have even if it isn’t your own is absolutely awesome. Please keep producing these. I can’t wait to learn more about interior design than I could ever imagine. Also absolutely love every bed to couch rant and I hope that continues to be a theme too.

Loved this, thanks. Big fan of the random contrast colour. My friends and I use weird voices all the time so just be yourself despite the haters. We will, however, never back a sofa up to a bed. Oh I have had a hard day, I'm exhausted so let me just slip off my shoes and relax by sitting facing backwards to my bed. Heaven forbid I just get on the bloody bed.

I would love this as a series. Please do the whole house! In particular I would love to see hallway and additional family room. My additional family room was initially hard to work with because it has a desk, piano, and two book shelves that had nowhere else to go but this room, so I had to make it work. After much rearranging, painting, and lighting changes, it is now a cozy library/music room, with a vintage desk for writing, computer work, or sewing.
