Barkov has been a 2.0 ppg player since his return while locking down every teams best lines and power plays every other night, that's wild. Reino is on another crazy run, projected 100+ point season. They're rolling all 4 lines beautifully. "Chef's kiss' perfection.

I wish that you mentioned Ottawa's penalty was NOT goalie interference, but that Stutzle got a penalty for knocking Svechnikov's stick out of his hands when Stutzle was WINDING UP FOR A SHOT! Also the penalty that made the game 5 on 3 was Shane Pinto HITTING THE ICE WITH HIS STICK, THAT WAS CALLED SLASHING!

Agreed, the Stutzle call was brutal, he was simply trying to shoot the puck. Svech had one hand on his stick, SOFT and no way a goal gets disallowed and cannot be challenged here. The Pinto penalty to follow that was even worse, I don't know how these refs aren't getting a talking to by the league for such poor officiating.

There was a play where svechnikov was standing still, passed the puck back, and tkachuk gave him an open ice cross check well after the puck was gone. There were trips missed left and right. these officials shouldnt sniff a playoff game

The squad had a perfect game against Winnipeg. I love hockey man, the only sport where a bottom 6 market team can win a Stanley Cup, be the best in their division for the last few years, lose key players, refill the roles perfectly, then the squad goes on a wild 6 game streak and wins back to back games against one of the West's most dangerous teams in Finland, then loses back to back against the talented NJD team, to then beat the best team in the NHL in shutout fashion. Like the Panthers are wild man. 5-0 on either 5v5 or 4v5, no power play goals or crazy penalty calls. You know the Panthers are on when Kulikov is scoring. They dismantled Hellefluke and Bobby Shmurda gets a shutout. LET'S GO HOME BABYYY 🔥

In the game vs ottawa and the hurricanes, we saw an actual fixed officiated game. A slash 3 ft away from a guy that never happened. A goal called back because a guy dropped his stick 7 ft behind a breakaway. If the nhl doesnt address this game, im led to believe their in on it.

Perhaps it didn’t decide the game, but that officiating in the Sens Canes game was flat out unacceptable. The NHL has to start taking some sort of accountability and making change because that was embarrassing. I don’t care if it’s a “hard job”, it’s their job.

Also more noteworthy games where the officiating is junk was the sabres game and the islanders game. Brutal calls that led to goals and momentum swings. It’s a joke this year

Power Rank #1 Jets lost twice this week, #2 Cats lost twice this week, #3 Wild lost 1.5 times this week. The game that the #4 Canes lost this week they had 50 shots, a rating of (I think it was) over 7 expected goals. Wild played drunk most of the game, Brodin, Ek, and Zuccerello out created 4 completely different lines and it showed, they didn't have any chemistry until Hynes started pairing guys together in the 3rd. Wild looked looked like it was there first preseason game.

I'll describe what Stanky did as best I can. He got charged heading to the net. He passed the puck to himself by jumping it up over the defending player's head, skating past the player and then taking a backhand shot. If it had gone in it would have been the goal of the century.

The call wasn't goalie interference in the Sens Canes game, it was interference on Stutzle, the shooter, for.... trying to shoot the puck. Sends us to the PK. Then Pinto gets a slashing call for.... slashing the ice. Seriously, he just put his stick down on the ice hard, didnt touch anyone. Then Ottawa gets a too many men on a slow change on the phantom powerplay which made it 5-on-3. They score in the dying seconds of the first powerplay and therefore get another entire powerplay, which they also score on. So what was supposed to be a 1-1 game turned into 3-0 because of two horrible calls, and another that wouldn't have even happened if they were 5 on 5 in the first place. Killing all of Ottawa's momentum in what was looking to be a good game. Good job stripes

The interference call on Sluzzla was because as he received the pass he used his own stick to slash the hurricanes players stick out of his hands so he couldn't play the puck fairly it WAS IN FACT INTERFERENCE!. As for the rest of the calls 75% of the leauges rule book states it's "up to the refs discretion" on weather or not to make a call. So whine about it why don't ya.... 🤷‍♂️

It was like that Tkachuk tripping call in game 7 of the SCFs last year. It was truly a blind man's call. In my opinion, these officiating calls have to do with the NHL's sponsor with FanDuel and DraftKing. If you watch the under/over during the games it changes constantly , they'll lock you out of a bet during a power play, change the odds real quick, then allow you to bet on the new odds, then if nothing happens the odds go back to normal, shits crazy.

The interference call in the canes-sens game was actually regular interference on stutzle after he tapped svechnikovs stick causing him to drop it lmao, guess all you have to do to negate a goal on the backcheck is drop your stick when you touch the attackers

The Canes v Sens game was the worst officiating I’ve ever seen in 32 years of watching hockey. I get it’s a difficult job but that was sheer incompetence of the highest order.

I guessed the "Bruins, Kraken, Oilers, Habs, Bolts, Jets, Sabres, Sharks, Canes, Wild, Kings, and Blackhawks." Who won was Blues, Kraken, Leafs, Habs, Bolts, Panthers, Flyers, Pens, Canes, Stars, Kings, and Canucks. Five out of twelve is not good but I always pick the Blackhawks. Looks like some better teams might have figured out the Jets but we will see. Bruins continue to slide and Islanders might be trapped in the lower half of the Met but those were the early games already discussed. Leafs pours it on in the third to win a close game and might be more solidly in second with a shot to dethrone the Panthers but with the defending champs beating the Jets, it won't be easy. Habs are going to win one every now and then but the same could be said of the Blue Jackets, so games like that are always a coin flip. I wonder if Tort has got the Flyers on the right track though we'll need to see more than the last three to be sure. Pens / Sharks are another coin flip, IMO. Canes were decisive against the Sens. Either the Stars won't go quietly or the Wild heard skateblades but it helps the Jets for such things to happen when they chalk up the odd loss here and there. Kings are hoping the Caps take out the Knights tomorrow but we will see. Canucks came back after keeping it close and then just shut the door. I'd love to see a modern era analysis on pulling the goalie: how often it works, how early it works, how often it results in two empty-netters, how close teams have to be in the standings / comparative skill levels for it to be useful, etc. I'll have to dig in the archives and see if you've done one before. The officiating in the Canes game was not good, but it rarely is. At the end of the day, the Hurricanes had 5 opportunities to the Senators 4. The slashing/interference negating penalty was odd, but the too much man penalty that followed was absolutely the fault of an undisciplined team and that’s the one that truly did them in. Maybe next meeting we’ll get a Kochetkov/Tkachuk reunion, Tkachuk loves to get poke checked by old Petey.

Devils are so inconsistent. Keefe needs to adjust and fix the issues. Devils dcore scoring went from good to bad.They cant get pucks on net,cant score, no screens,no greasy goals,tips etc. They have 3 d goals(6 if you inculde casey) still very bad. Keefe is not the offensive minded coach we thought he was. He adjusted for the Florida 2nd game but went MIA too much of that from Keefe. Fix the issues,practice passes,practice getting out of your own zone. Keefe has been shut outted 3 times with the devils while keefe leafs went about 3 years without getting shut out...

Things I noticed from the stats: Oilers outshot Toronto, won more faceoffs, actually scored on the PP and kept everything out on the PK, had fewer giveaways and more takeaways though a lot less blocks (still more than they've averaged for some time at 17). Nurse being hit in the head by Reaves (who got a Match Play booted from the game, guaranteed review by player safety and as he's a multiple time offender he's gotta get suspensions for it) and bloodied and not being able to return to the game with an upper body injury (rough translation, concussion or next thing to it) hurt. Last game Nurse contributed to all 3 Oilers goals. This game, gone EARLY in the 2nd. Tonight Henrique and Ryan impressed in the faceoff circle. I wish I could say this was a good game but a player, an important player, got hurt. That makes it an awful game. Take care all

Tonight was the nail in the coffin for me. Its time to trade Bouchard. I dont care how good he is in the offensive zone. I dont care about the bombs. He is just not good enough defensivly to play a top line. We could get a decent goalie and a mid tier defender for him, at minimum. And its not like we lack offensive power. We need defenders. Everyone is blaming nurse and saying Bouchard should get over 10 mil on his next contract. He is not close. 6-7 maybe at most. Crazy overrated player. I hated the hit on Nurse, It did a lot to also hand this game to The Leafs; love him or hate him Nurse makes up A LOT of the back end for The Oilers and they really struggled defensively after they lost him. It's not like having Reaves out of the lineup hurts The Leafs at all, The Oilers were already down players and to loose their top minute D man is rough.

No idea what to make of that Sens Canes game just a complete ref show. Not sure why Stutzle's goal didn't count which would've put the game tied with some good momentum for Ottawa. I thought the Sens played well 5 on 5 after the 1st problem is there wasn't much 5 on 5 play. Should've been a good game but refs ruined it. Didn't expect the Sens to get anything out of that game anyways just annoying to see the officials play such a big part in the result of a game but it happens

I'm a Canes fan and I was pissed watching that game. Completely ruined a good game, and I've seen my team on the wrong end, so I get how it feels. Ottawa is a great team, though. and I think they have a shot if they can put a streak together, the Atlantic is a lot weaker this year.

"Stars" never wore those colors. The North Stars dropped the north and those colors while they where still in Minnesota (to make a sale/move easier). MN broadcast showed a graphic of the last couple years of whose been hurt when they played the Stars and aside from the Playoffs where it was mostly just Ek hurt the Wild have missed 3-4 key players everytime they play, that's a crazy thing to happen. And last night was no different, I think if Wild had Brodin, Ek and Zuccy last night they'd have won. Most of that game the wild looked drunk with the 4 completely new lines. Hynes didn't start pairing guys together until the 3rd. I thought it was a preseason game the way the wild played the first 2.5 periods. Hopefully next time they meet they'll both be fully healthy

Sens at least played 1 of the top teams in the league and got some very questionable decisions that changed the game not sure they would've won but could've easily gotten a point that's the way it goes sometimes. Sens look a lot better but I'm worried they still aren't getting the results for their good play still kicking around .500 need to start converting the good play into more wins than not

It is extremely interesting how the English language has evolved during the computer age. The term software for example has been introduced alongside its "older relative" hardware. It is intriguing that a term usually associated with human beings or living creatures "population, to populate" now applies itself to terms inserted in to the internet.
