in terms of size it's 1/24 because it perfectly fits in your hand while the shoebox sized 1/18s are kinda unwieldy and meant for shelf display, but unfortunately all the high end stuff is either 1/18 or 1/43 and so 1/24 is really only a starter scale before you move on to others.
