Those look like cake donuts which are hard to fill because they are dense. For something to have a filling it has to be like a yeasty donut like the Dunkin's Boston cream. Yeasty donuts are airy and pillowy on the inside so it can easily be filled. Most donuts that are filled are usually yeast based.

hey daym i live in texas and honestly your old best and worst reviewed restaurants videos make me want to go to connecticut just to try them. driving from texas to connecticut is literally a 25 hour drive which is tough. even the bad places like krauzer's, sally's, valley farm drive in, capitol lunch, husky pizza, and others that get a bad rating i want to go and try. i also saw an old video of yours of a hot dog restaurant called tomlinson's and those hot dogs look a little suspect but i would still try them. bro's dough the first black owned pizzeria in your state also seems very good and the owner seems very friendly. abate's pizza is hated for no reason as you made it clear the cheeseburger pizza was very good the problem is the wait time. roosters chicken and waffles has actually gotten better than when you tried it based off the reviews i seen. also that video of you and regg going to goodies the first time hilarious and iconic but glad that goodies was able to redeem themselves the second time you and regg went. and for the best reviewed restaurants, doogie's, blackie's, philly's a taste of philadelphia, modern apizza, and gold burgers call my attention just as much as the worst reviewed restaurants

There's a little family owned donut place about 45 minutes away from me called Fresh Donuts & Ice Cream that (in my opinion) is the absoulte best. I go there every opportunity that I get for donuts and coffee.

Guessing that a mix of both the ingredients (cake donuts ingredients typically cost more to make than yeast) and the cost of rent being factored into the cost. If the place is on a busy road with a mix of high end establishments and empty lots could mean the rent in high, and the costs have to be passed onto the consumer.

I know you in Ohio. My co worker owns her own restaurant in Columbus called Chef Butcher’s Creole Kitchen. Please try it out . We both from the south and so happen to move to Ohio for the time being. Definitely try the gumbo, and her wings . Definitely ask for her own seasoning. Got a little kick to it. Peeps, how much are krispy kreme donuts in the states now? Here in England they start at around £1.60 (1.98$) for a single original glazed, that's ONE donut! I feel we are getting bent over. A dozen is around £14. Sometimes there are offers but very rarely. Its ridiculous. Only time I get them now is for birthdays instead of a cake

I used to go there all the time since it opened when I was 18 (2004). They don't have much in the way of filling, but they're not really made for filling. It was a little disappointing seeing you so focused on the filling, or lack thereof. Yes, they have gotten a bit pricey since I last went through when my son was about 5. The only reason I stopped going is because I moved out of state about 5 years ago.

If they kept them just the base donut cake or yeast ... there 50 cents all day .. the fact that by adding the various toppings on them to be for the extra $1.50 your paying onto of that is definately obserd. Im sure you can get 12 plain ones for like $3us at any grocery store. I agree with you Daym .. if they where putting a filling in the majority of the donuts at least it would make it close to $2. Otherwise I think you are spot on saying that these are $1 each value though.

I wouldn't make all the donuts cake donuts. Have some be cake, some filled, some even crounuts which are pretty great. You can have jelly filled too. Like imagine when peach season rolls around and then you got a peach cobbler donut with that slow cooked peach filling with some peach icing on top? Summer time you can make strawberry short cake and key lime donuts.

For cake donuts like those that can't have filling, the key then is to put lots of goodies on top. Where I live there's a shop that does very well selling full size donuts that cost $5, but they really go above and beyond with the toppings. I'm talking about mint glaze donuts with Oreo pieces, chocolate glaze with gummy worms, maple frost with bacon, and lots more unique flavors.

$2 for mini donuts is nuts idc what you put in it or on it especially when I can get a dozen full size donuts at my local spot for less than a dollar a pop. The owner’s problem is that he’s manipulating the market on his donuts for an already niche product. By closing early and limiting the amount of donuts he makes he’s lowering the supply and availability, but still having to cover the operating cost and make a profit drives up the price of the donuts. If I were to make a suggestion it would be for him to stay open until 5 or 6pm; how much you’re paying for the location isn’t going to change he needs to get more out of the time he has. make mini and full size donuts charge 1.25 for mini donuts and $2 for full size. Stick to only 4 doughs that are used for both mini and full size. And about 4 unique topping/fillings for each of the 4 doughs. That’s 16 different donuts in full size and mini. Instead of having a ton of different kinds of donuts that drives up food cost.

The doughnuts look good but they should drop the mini doughnut label and make them slightly larger. They don't need to be Dunkin sized but more than a bite would be good. Or, they can switch to cupcakes. Some people don't like cream, I don't think that's the answer. I'd be very disappointed if I paid $12 for 6 doughnuts that are the size of 2 regular doughnuts. $1 or bigger doughnuts
