I’m so happy because I got lots of birthday money and spent it all on Gaynor’s before they changed! I bought ten pairs so it will last me about another year before I have to change my brand of pointe shoes.

I bought these shoes and have been wearing them for about a month now and I actually really like them! They’re comfortable (besides a fitting problem that causes some pressure on my pinky toes) and supportive even without a shank. I think the only problem I have with them is that they tend to rub pretty painfully on my heels, which is a problem that I have with a lot of my shoes. I think it’s definitely an individual thing though!

I wish all point shoes would have a removable shank. My shanks break sooooo fast, but the rest of the point shoe is brand new, so I have to throw away a perfectly usable point shoe because the shank is dead. It would be great to have a shak refill.

Are you jet gluing the shank ? I mean it’s not temporary but it can help sometimes? Or get refitted with shoes with a herder shank?

@@natakatsivalis That sounds so frustrating! Jet glue is a brand name. You can use any brand of cyanoacrylate glue (that's the substance name). There's liquid and gel. I think most dancers use the liquid type. Where I live we call it one second glue, because it dries really quickly. You can buy it in most hardware stores (or your local shoe repair service or even a hobby store). Another great way to harden the shank is with shank tacks as explained in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHXQmp6tZrtlobc - I get my local cobbler to do that for me.

I don't know if it can help for the shank (and sorry for my english) but if you need it to be more arched so it can support you better you can heat the shank and mold it in the way you need it. There is a video on their youtube channel, if i'm not mistaken is called "shank tips", and it explain the process to mold the shank~

She said on her Instagram that she washed her Gaynors. If you are new to pointe (under 3 years of experience) don’t do that, and only wash them if you wear Gaynors.

My pointe shoes are from Só Dança and I really like them. I recommend you to try new shoes. Trying new shoes is a bit scary but if you don't like the new ones just keep searching, try a professional fitting or go back to the ones You're used to

I literally just tried these on at my last fitting (I got too strong for my other pair) and they were amazing but they needed this extra strap which felt not so good so I ended up with gaynors (the classic kind)

I’m gonna get pointe shoes next week and I’m so excited, but here’s a story: So my friend and I needed pointe shoes for summer intensive, and so her mom made an appointment. When she tried on like every shoe brand they had, none of them fit her feet that well, except for Russian pointe. So later, I showed her a packet from our ballet school that said, “you can have pointe shoes from Bloch, Gaynor Minden, Krischko, Capezio, etc, but NO RUSSIAN POINTE. and none of them fit, and now she is going to go back to the place on the same day I get mine, and hopefully they can find her a new one

You can mold the shanks with some heat, so they won't cut so high or struggle with rolling up🙂

You might want to try a softer shank if it won’t be too soft. That’s not the problem I had with my Gaynors, but I know others that had to get a softer shoe for it to work well for them again.

If your old shoes didn’t have any major problems from what you could tell, I would say to order the exact same thing online. If you need to change shoes or size, I would absolutely not recommend online ordering and would just wait until the lockdown is over to have an in person fitting again. If your old shoes are dangerously dead, you should either work on flat or a high demi pointe and use a theraband to maintain strength.

I think the concept of these shoes is cool but i kind of hate how so danca has only two styles of them for every foot shape they do look alot better than they did before they redid them tho the pictures i saw of the old version where kindof scary looking

Reppetto is a brand not a specific model or type of pointe shoe. If you got fitted by a professional in reppettos then they should work for you! But make sure that you get fitted! Hope this helps

I'm not doing pointe yet (soon) but people from my class are saying that repetto pointe shoes aren't the best ones and that they prefer bloch, sansha or merlet. I'm from lille and there are other pointe shops than repetto. Especially as the shops are now not specialized in pointe shoes but more into the fashion brand. I hope this helped you. Try Merlet as well if you find them. Repetto La Carlotta is what all my dance mates wear in France, but I got fitted with Bloch and they work fine for me. I used to get pain in my toes but I don't get any pain with Bloch Serenade

The sodanca ones hurt rub on your heels so bad and my toes hurt after using them. It just doesn't feel supportive and pushes you back if you have a bigger heel

The tip of the box is super flat but angled in a strange way, the box is too wide and squared off, the vamp is soooooooo long and come up far to high on your feet, they are too straight on the sole with zero arch and they make your feet look huge! it is a no from me
