The most funny part of this whole thing, was Ben Shapiro admiting that the daily wire wanted to make it a documentary, but they found that womens sports don't even allow men to compete, and couldn't find any men willing to take the hormones and surgeries for the length of time to meet the requirements for trans women to compete. The sad thing is, in the 90s especially, this could be a set up for a real comedy. Men, adult cis men, in bad wigs absolutely dominating women's sports being shown as a farce while nobody cheers could work. I don't mind taking a few jokes. No big deal. This movie isn't designed to be just a funny comedy with a few jokes directed at us. Apparently, folks are a lot more freaky about physical modesty than they were when I was in high school / junior high school in the 1970s. I never heard any boy or girl complain about having to shower with their classmates, or make more than the rare comment about anyone's body in the showers or while changing. The coaches made sure EVERYONE took a shower, because who wanted to sit next to a sweaty, stinky kid in class if they had Gym in the previous period?

There are comedies with transphobic or somewhat offensive punchlines that are actually funny if you can distance yourself from the transphobia, because they were written to be funny in mind. Lady ballers isn't that comedy. It's transphobic for the sake of being transphobic and that's the punchline. A great example: Miss Doubtfire! It may not very trans friendly, but it's an amazing movie!

By the way the Doll House does kinda exist! I can think of 2 chains of drag queen resturants, the only thing is I don't think the queens are actually the waitresses, they have wait staff out of drag and drag performers perform while you eat. The first chain is Hamburger Mary's, of which there are many locations across the country, as a baby drag queen myself it was both my first in person drag show and my first time performing in drag (unfortunaly that location closed.) And then there is a resturant called Lips in both Chicago and New York, I don't know of any other locations and I'm not actually 100% sure they are affiliated with eachother, but I think they are. On top of that you can always look for Drag Organizations that do dinner and shows, I live in Michigan and we have MI Drag Brunch that goes all over (southern) Michigan to do drag brunches.

My headcanon for this trash movie I've never seen outside of reviews, and hopefully never will, is that Alex is trans and her coach basically bullied her back into the closet. Then, after she returns to her job and life, some time later, she finds the courage to come out and remove those toxic people from her life. And the little girl also comes out as trans and forces the father to reflect on his biases and become a better person. There, a happy ending.

This movie kind of makes me think of a transphobic version of the movie "Freddy Got Fingered." Not in the way that the 2 movies are actually similar in content, because they aren't. They are similar in the sense that they are both really focused on saying things that are shocking/edgey instead of coming up with funny jokes. Both movies think that offending people is inherently funny even if it isn't actually attached to some sort of joke. That philosophy doesn't make a good movie. "Freddy Got Fingered" is considered one of the worst movies ever, it was a commercial and critical failure. So the fact that 22 years later the Daily Wire decided to do the same style of comedy, except really conservative alt-right stuff, is kind of wild.
