Awesome content - thank you! I’m in sim planning now so perfect timing. Inserts are 1 3/4” high whereas most pads 1” plus turf 1/2” so need to make up 1/4” for surrounding turf. I’m sure there is solution, doing research is part of the fun 🙂

I you had to pick between the divot board or the gel insert which would you go with? Also can the Carl's hitting insert be "returfed" or would you need to replace it entirely? It's kinda pricey so replacing it every 6 months would add up.

@pixelgolf What do you use for audio in your sim? I know projectors have speakers, but if you are watching a movie or need better quality what do you use?

Hello, for movie mode I use this, amzn.to/4g3twPo It is a powerful soundbar that has detachable wireless rear speakers that you can put behind you and a wireless sub you can leave plugged into an outlet i the room. It is very easy and sounds great! I have an extension cord behind my screen I can reach under and pull out to plug the soundbar in and put it on a stand in front of the screen. I have an Apple TV plugged into my projector that I use for movies and it pairs with the soundbar via Bluetooth. You can checkout my racing sim video on the channel, I show this setup on there.

How does the color compare to the money put turf? Also, how much height difference is there between your diy floor and Carl's insert?
@PixelGolf2 ай бұрын
The color of the Carl's insert is a brighter green, which I like. I've always thought the Money Putt Turf was a little too dark. There's about a 1/4" height difference, but Carl's now makes there own puzzle mats that fix this as they are 1.25" tall, alnk.to/44WImEY

Hey! Is your hitting insert now the one from Carl's place or did you decide to stick with your DIY insert? If you are using the Carl's place hitting insert, how did you integrate it with your current gym tile mat and moneyputt turf setup? I know the dimensions were a little different from the two. Thanks so much!
@PixelGolfАй бұрын
Hi Josh, I am still using my DIY insert as the dimensions are 13x30" for mine so in order to use the HotShots I would have to buy a new piece of turf... I plan on possibly switching down the road though if some new turf comes out in which case I'll be sure to make the cutout 12x30 so I can use the HotSHot as well. As for the thickness difference, Carl's now makes 1.25" thick puzzle mats so the height will be pretty close if using your own turf. alnk.to/faCv5ck
@joshledda1245Ай бұрын
@ Yeah I was thinking about maybe doing that as well. The only thing with the Carl’s place mat is that for my business size, the mat would cost around $3000 compared to the Prosource 1” that you linked which would be around $1500.

I think that’s mainly for their mat to keep it from sliding. You may or may not need it for your flooring type. The gym mat is mainly for raising the hitting area to allow enough depth for a hitting mat.

I can tell you I've hit a ton of shanks and they all stay within the enclosure, but I am hitting from just 8' away. The Hot Shot mat is 1.75" tall and with the gym mat being 1" you would need a turf 3/4" tall to be the same height. My current turf(Money putt) is only 1/4" so there would be roughly a 1/2" difference, though this would not be too big of a deal.

Spin was very close across the board, but slightly higher on the gel. It will really come down to how you strike the ball, especially if you’re a sweeper. But just like on the coarse, firmer ground typically produces more spin.

Very interesting. I would probably like the gel also.

It's pretty sweet! If I could start my turf build over I would've went 12x30 so I can utilize the gel insert...

We had the Carl's Divot Hitting Strip-Advanced and it wore out after 6 months. I hope these new strips will last longer. Are you selling them on your site?

Same here! We do not sell anything directly, we just offer the products we test in our links. These are listed in the description.

Gel sounds like a great idea to me. Nice review. Thanks.

Do you get any green marks on your clubs from any of the 3? I didn’t like the Bullseye 3d because of that

Nope, none at all! I had that issue with a few different turfs I used, but the nicer ones don’t do that since they’re designed different and typically last a lot longer than the ones that leave the green burn marks.
