I am debating between the Patagonia Downdrift vs the Down sweater jacket for winters in Europe. What do you think it better? I already have the nano puff, but not suitable for 30 degree weather.

The down sweater is a nice, popular jacket, but not very heavy. It's lighter weight, but not a warm enough jacket by itself for cold winter weather, (just my opinion). The downdrift is not a "technical" jacket, but really nice as a general use everyday winter jacket. It will be warmer than the Down Sweater, and also more weather resistant in rain and wind. If you want a warmer Down jacket for general everyday use, I would also recommend the Patagonia Jackson Glacier Down jacket too.

It's ironic as I was looking at one of these online yesterday in a sale to replace an actual hoody sweater, where the images weren't very good. Very timely and saved me buying a garment only to find it's much the same that I already own. They make good gear, but I always end up buying something else!

I bought the black patagonia down hoodless version in 2020. It is very warm indeed. It overheated me sleeping in 50*F weather lol I wish that repair patch was included tho :/

What are some of the biggest differences compared to the cerium hoody ? Aside from the way they both fit.
@meandmyjackets Жыл бұрын
I like the Cerium better, just me... I fell that it's a bit warmer. I face fabrics on the patagonia are nice feeling more silky soft, but I would think that the cerium may be a bit more durable, even though the face fabric is meant to be lightweight. To Me, the Patagonia is nice, but giving the fit is more "casual" not as trim fitting as the Cerium, it's more of an everyday jacket that can be used for mountain activities. And the Cerium is meant more for mountain activities and can be worn for everyday when necessary. I hope that makes sense for you.

@@meandmyjacketsThe Cerium would be 10/10 if it had a storm flap behind the zipper.

I get that, I guess they feel less is more when it comes to weight and packability.@@Adamas11

Thanks for the review, Chris. How does it fit across the shoulder, chest, and waist relative to the Cerium LT and Rab Microlight? I own the Cerium LT and it doesn't fit anymore. This looks like a good replacement.
@lumpy3408 Жыл бұрын
You'll love the Rab Microlight in either version, and they are cheaper! The Beluga color is really nice.

This Patagonia jacket does have more room in it than the Cerium LT. I can't layer very much under my cerium, but that's not a problem with either the Patagonia or Rab. They are all very similar overall in their use, but the Arc'teryx Cerium does have the more fitted fit.

Is this jacket ok for below 0c?
@meandmyjackets6 ай бұрын
It depends on your activity. It's warm, but it's still on the lighter side of down insulated jackets. you may want a warm fleece under it. If I'm out in that temp, I would probably go with my Arc'teryx Thorium. But I'm not doing a high output activity.

its lame, its a B minus compared to the Cerium, just a lame price point option, save up for the cerium
@meandmyjackets Жыл бұрын
I like my Cerium too, but I think that the big difference is in the fit. My Cerium Lt is a more fitted piece. Not much room for a layer under it, the Patagonia has more room under it for a nice layer if you want it.

@@meandmyjackets don't undersize the cerium, leave room for a layer underneath, duh
