I appreciate simsie's insistence on using the creator codes especially for the cc creator collabs. They make the ENTIRE KIT and only get paid a flat fee??? And the only labor EA has to put in is checking their work and then hosting it on the store??? It's honestly crazy that they don't automatically get at LEAST 20% per sale but I'm glad we can still support them with the codes

I hate to say this, but it's very rare (and by rare I mean never) for contract/freelance workers to get royalties from their work. Really, the only functional difference here is that CC are known entities by the community so there is a bit of a greater emotional connection between us and them. So aside from that emotional connection, they're just contract workers. EA isn't doing anything particularly nefarious here, that's just the nature of this industry.

No, I strongly disagree, and everyone should oppose this mindset immediately. Here's why: (This is extremely important to the gaming industry.) Every logical thinker, and video game fan should know that what EA is doing is extremely beneficial to gaming as a whole. What makes creators wanting more money even more atrocious is that gamers have criticized developers for decades for being greedy and the first moment gamers are offered a hand to help improve video games, the first thing you're all talking about is wanting more money. Developers, now, more than ever, need assistance from gamers to develop games, and EA is one of, if not the leading company in engaging in this, and we should be eternally grateful. Expecting more money, risks companies turning away from this, instead of more participating, when the industry desperately needs gamers helping developers right now. (The above is the edited version of this comment. The below is the original comment.) The creators agreed to the terms. You all sound exceptionally greedy honestly. Just my opinion. Most people who are passionate about something have no qualms doing something for free. Getting paid is plenty, expecting more is greedy. They already get commissions as well as the up-front payment. I can't stress this enough. EA is doing a very good thing, and if you all start trying to hash all over it, and make them regret this choice, then other game companies won't follow..... Seriously, it is not a good look to start sounding greedy at these early stages.

you can always subscribe directly to their patreon to pay them for their hard work. i think it makes sense in this case for the company to be making the most money per pack/kit because they outsourced like any other company would. they paid them and there’s a chance for their supporters to use their codes. realistically why wouldn’t the money farm farm money? it’s a business even though it’s a game we enjoy. sometimes people forget ea is a company that has to succeed to survive

One little detail I really love about the business chic kid is that the necklace is on top of the shirt cause normally when you have such kind of T-shirt, you wouldn’t see the necklace. So I really really love that there is now one that is on top of the shirt

If I recall right-it's been a while since I've made cc-that's a function of the shirt itself. If a top is designed in a way that would logically hide necklaces (for example, a large jacket with a scarf), there's a flag on that item telling the game to make necklaces invisible when that top is worn-and sometimes EA applies that tag a little too often. So it's not that the necklace is designed to be visible with the shirt; rather, the shirt is designed to show the necklace. And that means other necklaces should show on top of it too!

it’s so interesting to see cc creators collab with ea directly bc it kinda sheds a little bit more light on what’s “allowed” or compatible with the game. for example i think i admire madlen’s cc shoes most of the time mostly bc of the shape of the shoe (specifically heeled shoes) being more realistic. whereas in-game shoes usually seem like they can’t possible have a heel or when it does it’s like …squished. these shoes are a drastic improvement to most in-game heels but they have that ea squished look. i wonder what’s the science behind that.

Because of the way the character models are rigged, the important joints (like, the knees) have to stay in basically the same place to ensure the animations all work as intended. It'd be pretty freaky if the "knee" bends but the bend is in the middle of the thigh or something. I suspect that's what's behind the squashed heels. The shoe can only get so tall before you run into the point where the ankle joint bends, which can't just be moved upward without altering the way animations will look. So EA probably has in-house restrictions on how high you can make heels to ensure the joints are in the right place.

@@blm4791 It's also slightly different in that for Simsie's pack, she was a consultant rather than the person who built the assets. She will have done some work, but it's not on the same scale as a CC creator

A good thing to mention regarding creator kits, is that most of these creators have Patreons. So if you want to support them more directly, that's a great way to do so. Also usually comes with early access to their CC! (And Kayla included the links in the description)

This is how contracting work out in multitude of industries, not just the gaming and software industry. Not only that but EA also handles the paid promotion & distribution of the products through their services, not the creators or influencers themselves. The flipside is EA doesn't do any of this and CC creators & influencers don't get paid at all. Not to the mention the exposure to the wider Sims audience, the ones that don't look at videos or follow CCs which are the vast majority of the community.

As a builder, I'm always happy for new BB items! I've loved Pierisim's stuff for years, so this is exciting. While the CAS stuff was ok, I was disappointed (as always) by the limited offerings for guys. Also, the weird flare on the guy's wider leg pant looks like it's up too high. I feel like it should be draped further down the shoe. But the girl's stuff was nice looking. I love the fact that CC creators actually make their stuff 3D, such as the buttons and bows. Way better than EA usually does, lol!

I had a feeling from the previews I'd love both of these and now I'm sure! The business chic, besides looking very contemporary, can also cosplay as late 1940s to mid-1950s looks as well. Several items from the Refined LR can work for multiple decades, plus the side table and a few other pieces give a 70's Brutalist vibe. I do wish these furniture kits would give us a few bright colors to work with in addition to the neutrals and muted shades for those of us who like to go a bit bold. Appreciate the heads up on the codes.
