I am looking to build an ICF (single story) DIY and had a similar thought process with zont. Buy the wood, keep it for inner walls, garage shelving, etc. Great review. If I buy zont brackets, for sure will make a jib and use a router to make the slotted holes

What was the cost to buy the zonts for your build?

Great points. Better to buy the bracing system. Once the cement is poured, when can the bracing be removed.

Concrete will cure in couple of weeks. But l leave it until I move to another part of the project. I will leave this one on until the roof is complete.

@@rockyrookiehouse7732 ; thanks . Makes perfect sense to buy them. Could not find the price on internet. Can you tell us the ballpark price of the bracing system, say 50 braces

@@squeekhobby4571 I forgot the exact pricing. I will get a hold of the company and let you know. If you google it, you will find it too.

Not a pro or even a well read DIY'er yet, however I think the zont system might be fine when used in a normal ICF build. At least for some of the problems. Most people throw up an ICF, and are pouring within days. In that case, you aren't going to see issues with wood bracing. Leaving it up for weeks at a time, exposed to the elements, is going to be different. Especially since bracing is going to be using the cheapest materials, which are water logged green lumber. I expect that if one were to use kiln-dried and painted it all before erecting, it would last a fair bit longer. In the past when 2x4's were $2 instead of $6-7, it was a use once expense. Nowadays, it might be better to simply buy/rent steel. Even better would be to find out which of the top ICF's require the least bracing. I'm investigating a couple, but need more honest reviews. From what I've seen in this series so far, this system simply requires way too much work and expenses related to supporting the ICF. I don't know if ICF allows for pouring a wall at a time, which I'd be leary of, especially adhearing and corners. If they do, then one could perhaps only need to buy enough bracing for one side and just circle around doing a side at a time. Your videos are a great data point which counters a lot of marketing fluff we see.

I plan to use all the lumbers for partition. This also helps secure my lumber as any thiefs has to unscrew bunch of screws.

That bracing system to adjust plumb looks terrible. All those 2x4 parts can and will flex under a load. I cannot imagine why you like it. All steel bracing that I've seen on Fox Block and others are far superior. Also you have a very dangerous work place with that gaping hole in the floor. Temporary hand rails are needed.

I am way past that now. There few things I could do better. Also the company made few improvement to address some of the issues.
