This week we had so many amazing images submitted. In this video we go through a handful of them, and talk about the importance of color separation, tone, and visual flow.
You can email me at sendnickphotos@gmail.com to have your images included in the next critique

It shows the level of respect the photography community has for your critical eye Nick when folks at such an obvious advanced level would subject their work for critique. So many 'AHA' moments in your suggestions so thanks to those who are open to opinions and to being life long learners! One nugget I tucked away is not making the reflection brighter than the original subject and the reasons behind that. Thanks!

Love these sessions. My only suggestion would be to mix-in some images from mere mortals occasionally, too. All these images are spectacular, professional-level photos that only need minor adjustments IMHO.

I love your critiques, they add so much to the perspective of the possible viewer of our images. My critical eye is slowly developing, but I get my daughter to come in and look before I finish a photo edit for a fresh perspective. She gives me some great feedback but nothing beats watching critiques like these to help train our eye for our own work. Thank you for doing such a great session.

Wow, those photos are beyond what I've ever managed to captured. On this level I guess it often comes down to personal preference rather than something being "wrong" with the photos. I really enjoy watching these kind of videos, so helpful for improving my own photography. awesome vid but i have to disagree with the heavy crop on the last image the snow one , you need that tree on the left to help anchor the scene and acts as a great feature to stop viewers eye from moving out the image also the fact it helps balance the picture as a whole :) all the best from the UK

These videos are great and when you have snippets of editing tips, its super useful. The photos in here are far far better than any I've made, so I don't think I could bring myself to submit any of my photos. Mine are improving, but a long way off from being able to have any of these shown either side of them :) But the critique videos are super useful and interesting!

Everytime I watch your videos I feel like a very inferior photographer, I don’t mean that in a negative way, as I’m forever a student of photography, excellent insight from someone who has learnt from experience & made the effort to learn. I particularly like the theory of low contrast shadows, thanks Nick 🤓

Great video! Very much hope you continue these critiques moving forward. Also, after watching several of your videos over the last couple days, I'm definitely going to have to add full versions of Lumenzia and TK8 to Mac, especially now that I understand both work on the Apple M1 Silicon Macbook Pros, because it's clear to me that working with luminosity masks (which I've never done) can take my work to a whole new level.

Hi Brett. My pictures are blends usually. The Milkyways for sure because the sky and the foreground always shoot separately. The foreground is usually stacked and light-painted or a pano-stack like the horizontal milky way image. The thunderstrike picture is actually a single-shot image. :P I was standing on the roof for 2 hours for that frame.

Great video Nick! I really enjoyed that a lot. I love the way you critique other people's images, always helpful and always very respectful. I've also noticed that sometimes you only need to make a tiny little tweek to your original edit, to make it better. That's why it's important to walk away, give your eyes a break, and come back later and maybe see some slight detail you may have missed the first time. Always a pleasure watching whatever you do, thanks Nick!!
