Brother Bear In Season One, Yusei only summoned Stardust THREE maybe four times. Once against Jack- actually hell he didnt even summon it, he stole it from his side of the field. So three or two. He summoned it against Aki, idk if he summoned it against Bommber or not, and he summoned it against Jack in their final duel. Jaden's Neos literally did not exist until season two. Firewall Dragon is Yusaki's ace, lmao. It doesn't matter how many times you summon it.

In case you wonder : the arc-v era rival didn't really used doom king armaggeddon a lot, he used it like twice in the entire show. He doesn't have an actual ace IIRC, he actually plays DDD the way people played it in real life : spamming extra decks monsters with much better effects than this. Arc-V had this thing at its debut (less so after a while) where some characters were using decks closer to reality than usual (I think a lot of people will remember a certain character playing XX saber exactly how it was played back when it was tier 1) Also for the flame wingman/neos thing, it's because neos wasn't introduced until season two of the show at a time where the trend of aces with 2500 atk wasn't entirely defined.
@ShiaSpirit
@ShiaSpirit 6 жыл бұрын
Fabien Bonnet The three Doom Armageddon Kings could maybe be considered his boss monsters though? Purple, Whitest, and Black or whatever? Though the only showed up once... But yeah, Reiji doesn't really have that "signature" single card.
@Yumil_fab
@Yumil_fab 6 жыл бұрын
the three based respecitvely on Z-ONE, nightshroud and don thousand used in the final episode ? yeah, I could see it, but it's more their ultimate monster than their actual ace. The way Scar red nova dragon is Jack's ultimate compared to red archfiend.
@jayd.doubledubs
@jayd.doubledubs 6 жыл бұрын
As a D/D/D player and Declan fanboy, I completely agree. It's fun to just spam extra deck monsters into a control/Beatdown strategy and I like the sheer number of options the deck provides. I am a mediocre player at best, but even I can see how much potential D/D/D's can do in the right hands. I don't think anyone in their right mind would ever use Doom King outside of it's purple, black, and (urgh) white forms. Thanks for bringing this up.
@ShiaSpirit
@ShiaSpirit 6 жыл бұрын
Fabien Bonnet That's true I suppose. But the point of Reiji is really to show how well rounded of a duelist he was because he could use all of the summoning mechanics where most other characters used only Pendulum, or their respective dimension's mechanic. Until Yuuya learned other stuff of course. Guess that's Reiji's "boss monsters" mastery of every summoning mechanic.

baval5 could you explain it to me a little more please because I want to know
@baval5
@baval5 6 жыл бұрын
sure but its not that complicated. Each of the early protagonists and apparently the recent one started out using one signature monster. For Yugi it was Summoned Skull, for Jaden it was Flame Wingman, for Yusei it was Junk Warrior, etc. They would summon these monsters in every game and often they were the key to victory. At some point in their series they then got a different monster that from that point on they used instead. The old monster still sometimes showed up but much rarer and almost always just to be immediately destroyed. For Yugi Dark Magician, for Jaden it was Neos, for Yusei Stardust Dragon.

baval5 even playmaker does basically the same thing albeit with his link-3s. The thing is he only uses Firewall in master duels which DOES make sense, but that causes it to have much less screen time especially considering he doesn't really use firewall THAT well.

Its not up for debate, its kind of a trend Jaden had Wingman, then became Neos Yusei had Junk Warrior, then became Stardust Yusaku had Decode Talker, then became Firewall You can even say that Yuya had Odd-eyes, then became Odd-eyes Pendulum Yugi had Dark Magician, then came other Dark Magicians Yuma had Utopia, then came other Utopias Yuya had Odd-eyes, then came other Odd-eyes There's a trend from the first three protagonists above that they start with what's called a pseudo-ace, then will eventually be replace by their true aces, all that starts a trend of 2500 atk and that they all need "two cards" to summon (for firewall, this breaks the trend, because it can be summoned by two or more monsters) Edit: Stardust also breaks the trend, as it can be summond with 1 to 4 non-tuner monsters, along with the sole tuner monster of course.

I think Shining Flare Wingman should've been Jaden/Judai's ace monster. Not only are its stats identical to Dark Magician's (2500/2100), it is a fusion monster, which was the summoning mechanic that flourished in GX and was used by pretty much everybody in that anime, and it would've fit better with every protagonist having their ace be the primary monster type of that era. Not only that, it was introduced much earlier (During the Camula duel) and it was an actual part of the E-Hero archetype, rather than neos, who was integral to a completely different (and shittier) archetype.
@blazinbraixen9067
@blazinbraixen9067 6 жыл бұрын
Siriusly Orion if you ask me I feel like Jaden's Ace monster changes throughout the series but most of them stem from the base elemental heroes so honestly I'd call them his Ace monsters especially since he's won his fair share of duels with just his base elemental heroes, also in season 4 his Ace monster is arguably yubel.
@cis22
@cis22 6 жыл бұрын
Chazz/Manjoume is also a very weird case in GX. He doesn't really feel much of a rival to Jaden/Judai. If anything, his rival should have been Aster/Edo (but like Neos, Aster/Edo was introduced in season 2). And Aster/Edo has Destiny End Dragoon as his Fusion monster with 3000 ATK. And going with the ARC-V alternate counterparts, there's Kite/Kaito (Yuma's rival), Jack (Yusei's rival), but the Fusion Dimension has Aster/Edo instead of Chazz/Manjoume.

I personally prefer the Rival Ace Monsters over the Protagonist Ace Monsters. They look much more badass and are a lot more fun to use: Blue-Eyes; Red Dragon Archfiend; Galaxy-Eyes; D/D/D and Rokkets are decks that I used a lot of times and they were great. The only exception is Armed Dragons because they were kind of lame. I used to think that Zane with his Cyber Dragons was Jaden's rival in GX.

kristof gergely i believe Zane to still be Jadens rival. While the other (forget his name) is more of an enemy. Zane also meets the requirements that all other rivals etc meet. As in his ace and his other both use the "newest" (in this case it is fusion as it is the idea that was pushed the most unlike in the original) summoning technique

I think that is what they were originally going for with Zane in GX, as Chazz wasn't too much of a problem for Jaden (Chazz couldn't even beat Bastion). But I guess they didn't know what to do with Zane after Season 1 (GX barely had a plot), so he just...got tossed aside.

Idk, I'd still say Chazz is his rival, due to how he mirrors Kaiba. Checklist: - Rich kid ✔ - Only cares about power and winning (to begin with at least) ✔ - Kinda sucks as a player (again, at least to begin with) ✔ - Snobby and arrogant ✔ - Hot-headed ✔ Aster is more like Jaden's equal. Same goes for someone like Zane.

Jaden unlike most other protagonists changed his main rival throughout the series. It started with chazz, but he wasn't really a rival after the first half of season 1. Jaden should be listed as either having multiple rivals or none, because none of them were a main rival.

Or would it be Jesse from GX since he and Jayden got VERY close very fast?: Rainbow Dragon Crow: Armor Master/Black-Winged Dragon (armor master is the better ace monster which he used more) Arc V: No idea never watched Vrains: Slamangreat Heatleo? Vrains is confusing since the main character never really had a friend until this most recent season. Unless you count Go/Blue Angel who are more rival's than friends.

So in Arc-V, Reiji didn't really have one boss monster. His strategy involved summoning the equivalent of 3 boss monsters in one turn. In addition, Borreload isn't really Revolver's ace, as he also has several boss monsters. The entire Topologic archetype and the Borrel archetype are all his "ace" monsters.

Yusei Fudo While the strategy is no where near tier 1 the deck can still pump out some really good boards with 2-3 negates or just flat out Otk using Prime and another Xyz (Usually Cipher into Armor into Cipher Blade). It can play though boards decently well too and once Gouki gets hit it will actually be a decent contender on a local and regional level. The MAJOR thing holding it back is Pendulum Magicians. Pendulum Magicians basically do everything Galaxy does except more consistently.

@ShuraEssays

Super Saiyajin God King of Llamas First I like how you say Edo and Johan but instead of Ryo you say Zane, and second, I really feel like Zane/Ryo was the rival. He was way stronger than Judai initially, then Judai strived to catch up to him, and they tied, and Ryo was much more of a serious opponent than Manjome or Chazz in the dub. I mean, the guy is more like a secondary protagonist after he comes back to Duel Academia. He was threatening, like, twice, unlike Kaiba who remained a force to be reckoned with for the whole series, or Jack, who was a serious match for Yusei, Kaito, who I don't actually think ever lost to Yuma, maybe once, or Reiji, who is probably the strongest main character of Arc-V. Like, if Chazz is a rival then, like, Crow was Yusei's rival. It's like suggesting that Joey was Yugi's rival.

@deeperhavoc Why does it matter if Jaden has beaten him to count as his rival? they're definitely pretty close in skill level judging from their duels, that's the exact reason why Zane even choose Jaden as the duelist he needed to beat to graduate, and saying they barely interacted it's a flat out lie, they have a pretty good relationship since the beginning, they both seem to respect each other and regard the other quite highly, so much so that Zane was the one who gave Jaden his confidence back when he hit his lowest point in season 3.

I'll clarify real fast: Ace monsters: Dark Magician - Elemental HERO Neos - Stardust Dragon - N39: Utopia - Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon - Firewall Dragon There is a 2nd category if you will, that includes secondary main monsters or favorites that goes: Dark Magician Girl - Elemntal HERO Flame Wingman - Junk Warrior - Number F0: Utopic Future - The other 3 dimension dragons (Dark Xyz, Clear Wing, Starving Venom) - Decode Talker For rivals: Blue-Eyes - either or (Armed Dragon LV10 or Cyber Dragon) - Red Dragon Archfiend - Galaxy-Eyes - D/D/D Doom King Armageddon - Borreload Dragon Rivals always also have a better version of their main card. That list goes: Neo Ultimate Blue Eyes - Cyber End Dragon - Red Nova Dragon - Neo Galaxy Eyes - 3 here again (D/D/D Super Doom King Dark Armageddon, D/D/D Super Doom King Bright Armageddon and D/D/D Super Doom King Purple Armageddon) I don't know if Vrains has the upgraded version yet, not caught up. Hopefully the list helps, also if you want to review the secondary main monsters or the ultimate rival monsters you already have them listed here.

Hmmmmm, yeah, it's a bit debatable whether Doom King Armageddon is a proper ace monster for the character it belongs to, because he hardly uses it. In fact, it's slightly debatable whether that character is *the* rival character at all, considering there does seem to be a much better choice in the anime as far as rivals go, and that character's ace is Starving Venom Fusion Dragon.

D/D/D Doom King Armageddon isn't the true ace monster of Reiji Akaba. He has an ace strategy though: swarming the field with different kinds of monsters. He uses D/D/D Doom King Armageddon multiple times in the anime, in like 3-4 duels, but it always was part of other strategies. In the first duel, Reiji summons 3 copies of it by Pendulum summoning. In a later duel, he uses it for Xyz summoning Kali Yuga with Abyss Ragnarok. Later in the anime, he tribute summons it to trigger D/D/D Wave King Caesar's effect and search another card. In the last duel, he summons 3 copies of it again just to upgrade it into the Extra Deck versions of it. A better "ace card" for him would be the elemental trio. Genghis, Alexander and Caesar. He summoned those 3 monsters at the same time a lot of times, including against the final boss of the anime, in which he summoned the stronger versions instead. And that was to show how masterful the dude is, because with the multiple dimensions thing, if a dude was capable of summoning multiple monsters of multiple mechanics, then it was either a betrayer or a really masterful duelist. In fact, the only moment the main protagonist actually beated Reiji in a duel was after he mastered every type of summon mechanic, from Pendulum to Tribute, Xyz, Fusion and Synchro.

The rokket strategy is simply make a link monster that can target your monsters with effects, i.e Borrel monsters. Rokkets are the bullets while Borrels are the guns. When a rokket monster is targeted with an effect, they get destroyed and apply an effect such as destroy a spell or trap, monster, cards on this column, etc. afterwords, they replace themselves at the end of the turn. This is where Borreload's out of place attack reduction targeting effect comes from.

The manga and sub version of Jayden (Judai) all suggest or say that Flame Wingman is considered their ace. It is the dub that changes it to Neos. Even the DL app can't make up it's mind with giving you Neos at the start and pointing you towards building a deck around flame wingman while leveling up. Also the Code Talker's are the equivilent of the Junk monsters. Decode Talker = Junk Warrior ShootingCode Talker = Junk Archer etc = etc. Firewall is the ace because Playmaker only brings it out when his back is against the wall and he needs to rely on his strongest monster. The Code Talker's are just the archetype his deck focuses on.

Heck, as far as I'm aware the only time he summoned it was in his first or second duel with Yuya to show that he isn't the only one capable of pendulum summoning

Chazz has 4 aces-VWXYZ, Armed Dragon LV10, Ojama King, Light and Darkness Dragon(Manga only). When a character has multiple aces you have to review the most relevent one to that charater, which would have been Either Ojama King or LaDD(Maybe even did both), but when most people think of chazzs' monsters, armed dragon is probably the last one thought of. It usually goes like this: Ojamas-VWXYZ-Chthonian-and if you even remeber he had these cards, then armed dragons(not counting LaDD because most people prob never read yugioh mangas). P.s.-Declan isnt really the rival of arc-v, its more so Sylvio or even Shay

I'd argue that Zane is the real rival, as he has an actual rivalry with Jaden since their iconic duel in season 1, all the way to season 3, in which Zane plays a big role in the story to bring back Jaden from his lowest point in life.

I ran Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon in Hieratics for a long time and it was surprisingly strong. In Hieratics you usually have more important targets for targeted destruction on the field at the same time, so my opponents often ended up stopped by his inability to be run over by ANYTHING, the ability to strip XYZ monsters of their effects (and get stronger for it), and ability to dodge the ever-so-prominent Mirror Force. Also, his summoning requirement paired perfectly with them.

The only reason I think D/D/D Doom King Armageddon is the ace of Reiji is because it connects to his stronger monsters. The idea behind Yuya and Reiji's decks are that they make use of all extra deck summoning methods prior to links. Whenever he summons armageddon, he barely makes use of its on field effect (except for that one time) and simply just uses it for fusion, xyz amd synchro, like for Kali Yuga and the Superdoom kings.

The rival monster for Arc V shouldn't have been D/D/D Doom King Armageddon but instead D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf, it fits the criteria since it has 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF and its effects are viable since it makes it so every monster of the archetype does piercing damage as well as let you destroy every card in the backrow in your standby phase. Also I just now noticed this is a video from 2018 but oh well... Anyway good job Dzeeff, keep it up man ur videos are firee

I know this is an old video, but the idea behind Armed Dragon LV 10 was to use the spell card "Level Up" to ignore the summoning conditions, making it a lot more accessible. Back in the day you'd run Masked Dragon or less often Flying Kamakiri #1 to bait their monster to attack and destroy it so you could search out Armed Dragon LV 3 which would get the immediate level up on your standby phase, turning into a 2400 monster that easily killed something and when it did, you could level it up during the end phase. Back then it was a lot more viable than it is now, but it was a cool niche strategy.

I believe the ace monster for Declan (Arc-V Rival) would either be D/D/D Gust High King Alexander or D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf. Both have that 3000/2500 ATK/DEF spread with Alexander at LVL 10 and Beowulf at LVL8. During the beginning of the anime though, I believe he had 3 ace monsters: Flame King Genghis, Gust King Alexander, and Wave King Caesar. There'd be many times where he had all three on the field at once. Now I've only seen Arc-V up until the Synchro World where Yuya is chained and unable to do anything (Ep 91) so I may be missing out on something.

The Photon Galaxy Deck is actually pretty decent with the new support it’s been getting. While the strategy is no where near tier 1 the deck can still pump out some really good boards with 2-3 negates or just flat out Otk using Prime and another Xyz (Usually Cipher into Armor into Cipher Blade). It can play though boards decently well too and once Gouki gets hit it will actually be a decent contender on a local and regional level. The MAJOR thing holding it back is Pendulum Magicians. Pendulum Magicians basically do everything Galaxy does except more consistently.

5:30 Red archfiend was more useful for it's attack for the casauls. It was the highest attack synchro monsters that was easy to come by and also summon. Even you could take care of your opponent's backrow it could easily beat most high level synchro monsters like Scrap dragon, thought ruler or stardust as well as most things they would normal summon. You could use black rose but that wiped out your own board and pretty much ended your turn as monster reborn was banned. Often though when the opponent has multiple defense position monsters it's more efficient to use black rose as they often also had backrow. Red archfiend was used during the late game when the opponent had used up most of his/her resources for one final strong monster to get victory and then run it over. Since it was used in those situations when both you and your opponent were low on resources the effect of blowing up your own monsters wasn't a big deal. Archfiend is either your only monster or you're using the few additional ones to finish the opponent off. When your opponent had a lot of backrow it was usually a better idea to summon stardust which was resistant against bottomless trap hole and mirror force.

I actually played the lv 10 armed dragon back in the day and I only managed to summon the thing once. Mainly because I was fortunate to have two level up cards in my hand but most of the time when I played the armed dragon strategy I was always relying on the 5 and 7 versions to win. So I say you analysis is definitely spot on considering that card.

I never watched Arc-V beyond the first few episodes, but I think the thing about Doom King Armageddon was that it was meant for play with the spell cards D/D/D Synchro, Fusion, or Xyz. Either one turned Doom King into a one card Rank 8, Synchro Lvl 10, or Fusion pretty much. But those cards never got released.

imo, when Galaxy/photon first came out, i really liked it alot but wasnt ever able to make it work in a consistent enough way but after ciphers came out it was so much easier to play galaxy because ciphers were able to open more options

Boreload was a Synchro Monster with a Link Monster ability, but this just makes him even better (except you need atleast 4 monsters compared to 1 monstef and 1 tuner)

I'd call the Ojamas Chazz's aces since they become his signature archetype, or even the VWXYZ as it's another one of his main archetypes, just cause I don't even the Armed Dragons really stayed around for very long. But that aside, GX really would be better suited with multiple rivals represented, cause they kinds didn't have just 1. Zane and Aster were both rivals to Jaden just as much as Chazz, maybe even more, as Chazz rarely even put up a challenge to Jaden. But that's just my opinion on the matter. Heck, saw someone mention Crowler and that kinda makes a ton of sense too. Recurring antagonist/anti-hero who he fought in the first episode who has the 3000 base attack ace monster that can still be boosted through fusion or other effects. GX was really full of characters who could fill that ace rival role kinda naturally just based off of the setting and character interactions. Pretty crazy really

Just so you know, Flame wingman was the initial ace monster for Jaden Yuki in season 1 until Konami decided he needed an equivalent to dark magician, so they created neos and made Jaden play the NeoSpacian archetype. Decode is not exactly playmaker’s ace monster, but is mostly his trump card. Firewall is like a quasar for him but is debatable about being the ace since he’s an ace who is also his boss monster.

5:08 it might've been nice to make mention of how Elemental Hero Prisma makes the card stupidly easy to summon.

I know this comment has nothing to do with thr rivals cards but.. I wish the elemental heroes would get a buff. They should •Give some of the fusion monsters higher att points •better support •change their abilities or at least make em useful •make neos wiseman and god/divine neos stronger (*especially* God neos I mean he has God in his name so he does deserve some kind of a better treatment) and easier to summon •and make elemental heroes an effect monster, his contact fusion should become a real thing And no, I'm not a real ygo player I read some of their effects

The Doom King was summoned twice in the ARC-V anime. & every single time, It was always pendulum summoned, but the rival of that season summoned MANY D/D/D monsters throughout the season.

An interesting idea would be a video that reviews the “sub-ace” protagonist monsters; monsters that are used frequently by the protagonist, but not as frequently as their ace monster, and all have ATK around 2000. Yugi, DM: Dark Magician Girl Jaden/Judai, GX: Flame Wingman Yusei, 5Ds: Junk Warrior Yuma, Zexal: Heroic Challenger Excalibur Yuya, Arc-V: admittedly idk if he has one, Yusaku, VRAINS: Decode Talker (or some of the other Code Talkers, like Encode or Excode). Another cool idea could be reviewing the upgraded forms of ace monsters: Magician of Black Chaos, Dark Magician of Chaos Divine Neos, Neos Wiseman Shooting Star Dragon, Shooting Quasar Dragon Utopia Ray, Utopia Ray V, Utopia Ray Victory, Utopia Beyond Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon, Odd-Eyes Lancer Dragon, Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, Beast-Eyes, Rune-Eyes and Brave-Eyes

I can safely say that among level monsters, armed dragon level 10 is the odd man out, as after a lot of reaserch on level decks, it is the only one i found that the previous form doesn't rank-up into it. Before you ask, I like to write books, and considered a level deck for one of my characters.

Dzeff you were wrong about the arc-v rival card he only used doom king armaggeddon like once, his signature cards are actually the D/D/D Extra deck monsters. He just plays D/D/D like we do in real life where he spams his monsters to bring out very powerful extra deck monsters.

For flamewingman, it was used a lot in season 1 but in season 2, Jaden can't see his cards anymore and is forced to essentially get a new deck. This is where we get the "new" summoning method which was contact fusion which neos was the center of it all. I say "new" because we still saw contact fusion in the original yugioh with xyz dragon cannon, but gx obviously focused a greater deal on it. Personally I think it would have been better if the "new" form of summoning was transformation fusion where Jaden plays his masked heroes from the manga, but oh well.

Armed dragon lv10's strange restriction is due to the fact that he was created well after armed dragon lv 7. As a result, armed dragon lv 10 needed an inherent summoning condition. I thought that it would be interesting if lv 10 could summon itself from the deck, but if Konami had release cards that activate from the deck back then, it would have snowballed into utter degeneracy by now.

A lot of protagonists have a mini-ace that gets used first (Shining Flare Wingman, Junk Warrior for example) before they get the "true" ace (Elemental HERO Neos, Stardust Dragon).

as someone who plays a D/D deck, armegaddon's strategy is pretty much raming small monsters into your opponents monsters and having them be destroyed by battle and then giving armegaddon the attack points so it can either run over and opponents big monster or otk your opponent.
