It's not a remake, it's a remaster. Some people might think there's little difference but the difference is massive. They didn't remake the entire game from scratch, like Capcom did with Resident Evil 2, they took what they already had and adapted it for new hardware making tweaks here and there. It's still a lot of work if they do it right but not the same at all.

Simple terms Remake:ground up work all new textures current gen level Remaster: cleaning up everything across the board using the same assists etc etc. HD port: simple res boosts and very small subtle changes.

You got the framerates backwards. Its 60 fps in battle, 30 otherwise.

Yuri Lowell is the best JRPG protagonist ever. Everyone else is ether too emo, edgy, or wishy washy.

Agreed. He's one of my all-time favorites, and hardly a cringey moment with him... although, to be fair, his development arc isn't nearly as broad as a protag like Luke fon Fabre from Abyss.

I've beat the main story in 37 hours and that's focusing primarily on the main story with a few side quests and the free dlc that goes with it.

I'm 28hrs in. I like the game and an intrigued on what happens to my team at the end. Also had 1 crash in 28hrs so far. Nothing was lost.

Highly recommend this game, I had it on Xbox 360 back in the day but never got to fully beat the story. I also recommend you play with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Not only are the Japanese voice actors better in general, but the animations for the characters seem to be synced to the Japanese audio no matter what language you're playing in haha

I bought this game last summer and have yet to play it… I bought another Bandai Namco RPG - Ni No Kuni - at the same time and just couldn’t figure it out. I managed to get the third character but haven’t gone back in months. Been playing Witcher 3, Hades and Paper Mario Origami King since. I’m still on the fence about giving it a shot when there are other things I think I’d rather play (also have yet to open Bravely Default II and Pikmin 3 plus I should give Undertale another shot).

@@ChiefMedicPururu i just finished the game and it crashed on me twice throughout the whole journey(50hrs). Although a new patch just released fixing alot of the issues.

I loved Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss - which nobody else liked IIRC. but for tales series the playability is an issue, so clunky battles and blurred shit are more than 2 points - Id say 7/10

I loved Tales of the abyss both anime and game. I like the character development of Luke. I also like Tear as a person.

yep vesperia aged decently.. it is not even comparable to the story of Berseria or Xillia but it's still a Tales of. Anyway Berseria as well was announced on Switch, I hope they finally release it as that one is just on another level and gamers that did not play it on ps4 must have an opportunity to enjoy it on other platforms as well.

good to know @Anonymous I might have read speculation concerning a new tales game bandai announced for switch and they gave for granted it was Berseria? i wouldn't know as I said we are talking last year's rumors. So it seams you'll have to buy a playstation (which is definitely a good idea as the best games on switch - with only a couple exceptions - are ports from either vita, playstation 4 or wiiU)

I felt like Berseria lacked a little bit, I like in my games for the characters to develop relationships, and sure it's there a bit, but all the main characters just seem to be people doing their own thing rather than helping each other attain one important goal. Xillia is my favourite by far.

Vesperia is not linked to the other tales games, so it's actually a good place to start since it has one of the best stories and a good version of the old battle system. Although the most friendly to newcomers might be Berseria, since it's the refined version of the battle system and they improved many things from the other games.

I don't know why but Im getting bored of this game. I was still in the mid stages of the game but I don't see any character development nor any exciting scene to make me sit and play more. I was so hype for this game before it came out because alot of review says its the best tales game so my expectation is quite high. Its not that I hate the game its just that the story was so simple and the other character has really no goal and has a poor reason to be in the team. And also the combat was quite slow compared to xillia and berseria.

Jeffrey Pogi middle of the game (like 3 dungeons) get pretty grindy. It does pick up though if you can power through it. I bet I know where you’re at, I’ve quit this game there a few times myself.

I would argue 35 hours for story is more than enaugh. And take into account this is without grinding. Games shouldn´t waste your time
