Taking on Tikka. Same price as their t3x with fluted stainless steel barrel unthreaded. I chose CVA Cascade because it's $250 cheaper with a threaded barrel and fit my budget. If I were in the market for an $800+ rifle I'd go with the XT. Exciting to see the emergence of CVA bolts. They are timing the market just right with the waning of Covid and availability of ammo coming back. New - and budget - buyers seem to be their target market. Ruger and Savage need to worry.

I’ve definitely loved my original. I should probably shoot a couple more Savages, but I wasn’t very impressed with the cheap one I had a few years ago.

They’re a good looking rifle, and I have no doubt that they will function perfectly. I’m always amazed (and somewhat envious) at the variety of firearms you guys in the US have to choose from, and the ways you can actually purchase all things shooting. We get what we get here in Australia, and we either line it, or go and play chess. And we have to pay handsomely for it. Good vid. Look forward to seeing how it shoots. Cheers from Down Under.

Looks like a great rifle at a fair price. I have do agree with you on the muzzle break. I have a TC Contender in 45-70 with the 14” barrel, and the muzzle break really helps to tame it a bit. Thanks for sharing your opinion, be well my friend.

I also picked up the 6.5 Creedmoor XT. Rounds touching at 100 yards with Norma Whitetail. Have not found a single thing I don’t like about it.

Is there really anything different from original cascade other than the bolt knob and heavier barrel? Does it shot any better? Or is this barrel just better for range shooting because the barrel doesn't heat up as fast? Thanks

Also comes with a brake, but I think that’s it. I’d say they’re going to function the same - which is still great. 😊

Great video! I bought the same gun in .308 Win. Using the Norma Whitetail bullets as you. Question; would my rifle have approximately the same muzzle velocity as yours? I ask because I have a Leupold scope with a Custom Dial System that needs a muzzle velocity as one of the inputs. I don’t have a chronometer so was wondering if you would share your muzzle velocity on the Norma Whitetails if you get around to that! Thanks

We did but we took it down because YT regards that as “modifying a weapon.” The trick is that you have to keep picking pretty hard through the screwdriver to get the screws to back out.

How effective do you feel the factory radial brake is compared to your 419 brake? I understand it won't reduce as much due to design difference but curious if it was at least a noticable recoil reduction from the factory brake. Thanks for the great videos.

Oooh. That’s a great question. So the Hellfire is on a .308, and this one is a 6.5 CM. So, it would be hard to say. There’s very little recoil with this setup, though. I can say that I love that Area 419 Hellfire, too! Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

I have a Ruger GoWild .30-06 with the factory radial brake. It works surprising well at reducing recoil. Although an Area 419, APA or Ultradyne will do even more.

Why go to 6.5 Creedmoor when you can clearly handle the 308 and or the 6.5 PRC

So 2 main reasons: (1) I have a Cascade SB in 6.5 CM and want to do some comparisons with different barrel lengths and (2) PRC ammo is A LOT more expensive. AND…there’s probably a PRC in the very near future in another gun 😁

How does ot compare to Bergara ridge wilderness series?

So…it depends on what you’re looking for. For me, the adjustable LOP on this is a game changer. I love my Ridge, too, but these are great! The bolt is smoother on the Ridge, but with some cleaning/oiling, it is pretty dang smooth. I prefer the flush mount mag of the Cascade to the hinges floor plate of the Ridge…I can do this for a while 😊 Is there anything specific you’d like to know about?

For the price id of gotten a tika or a savage. Stock is to bland and unadjustable. Question, did you get the 6.5 due to being recoil sesitive for your small frame and getting older? Curious if this was a factor in the purchase.

I’ve had an older Savage but wasn’t impressed. I have not shot a Tikka but would love to try one! I went with 6.5 CM because I do like the lighter recoil and have had really good experiences with out other ones. AND I have a Cascade SB in 6.5 CM and wanted to compare the 2.

@@ReviewThisThing No not yet. I'm trying to find my first 6.5 Creedmoor rifle and there's not a whole lot with 13" LOP. It will have to be between the Bergara B-14 Stoke, Bergara HMR Wilderness (which is a bit heavier), or the CVA Cascade you recommended. I'm a stickler for butter smooth bolt action so it will have to come down to that.
