The CW's Arrow debuted 10 years ago this year. I thought what better way to reminisce than to journey back with Oliver Queen, Diggle, and the gang. Surprisingly enough, even after Arrow has gone through its course with what feels like a dozen shows in the Arrowverse, Arrow STILL holds up. Arrow, the show about Green Arrow from the DC Universe still holds up 10 years later.

Arrow was one of my favorite shows for a long time when it first came out. I couldn't believe it when I saw the pilot came out TEN years ago. That's insane!? Manu was great. I wish he was actually in it more. I did like the fact he started as a 'good' guy that lost his way. I just wish the reason he did wasn't so goofy. "Hey, you stole the chick that you weren't really interested in or was interested in me...I'm going to kill you now."

This is the first “mature” live action show I watched, and watched live on TV, so I hold a real connection to it. It’s still one of my favorites even though it’s not good overall. I still stand by Seasons 1-2, 5 are genuinely great TV. Totally agree the Season 1 finale was amazing.

Completely agree. Honestly the pin point moment the show fell apart for me was when Ra's killed him. It just became extremely goofy

@@NaterTot the show improved a whole lot Season 5 though. Season 5 of Arrow is probably the best comeback I have seen from a tv show. Its rare for a show to go from a terrible season 4 and easily the worse season of Arrow to next year s5 being not only a great season but the best season of Arrow.

idk about it's not being good overall... people are too hard on arrow and honestly don't think it's fair. It had shittty moments, it had good moments. People thing tv shows are gonna be without faults really are setting up unrealistic expectations. Right now, the only shitty season I could think of is s4. Otherwise, season 1, 2, 5, 8 all greats.. season 3, 6, 7 might be mediocre but I doubt that, 3 and 6 are over-hated for basically no reason at all.

@@tauhid9983 I actually like season 3 and 6 as well. Very underrated those 2 seasons. Season 5 is my favorite season of Arrow. Season 4 is bad but still watchable and way better than batwoman s2 and s3. It also had some few moments i liked. S7 starts off great in first half with prison story arch but I will admit the 2nd half was very disappointing and they should have brought in the true longbowhunters or ninth circle vs the 1s we got. Having The Longbowhunters be a team with The co leaders being Count s1, ClockKing, and Brick would have been great. But instead we only got some of the henchmen from the group from the comics in first half never to be seen again or expand upon in 2nd half. I think the longbowhunters should have been the main villians for 2nd half instead. Plus the new suicide Squad had great potential but after 1 short mission the same episode took them out the show way too fast never to be seen again rest of the season. Than the ninth circle came in as the main villians but not as great as comics or as many members only Dante but anyways out of nowhere they made a sidekick the main villian and leader of the group which is way off from her character. S8 I thought was a ok season. The things I didn't like was its too short should have been 20 episodes and had a 2 graphic novels like flash s6 with a main villian before crisis and another main villian post crisis. I didn't like the idea that s8 has nothing going for outside of the crossover. No main story or villian outside of it and i was very upset the show killed off Green Arrow my favorite DC Superhero of all time. The only pros for s8 for me was seeing certain characters return and some great fight scenes.

@@oliverqueen9886 personally s7 was a hit or miss for me. It was as still very fun as fuck tho. The storyline was all over the place… there was no consistency even with the prison arc. I kinda wished Dover was the main villain, it would have been kinda cool to have a “crazy” villain I guess

Season 1 was so good, the fighting, the drama around the secret identity, the mystery of Oliver’s past. Season 1 is still amazing

The series faltered when they brought magic into the plot in season four. They found their footing again with season five but again slips a little in season six and seven for the most part. However, I did enjoy season eight and the crisis. I am still an arrow fan 10 years later as much as I am a flash fan. Stephen Amell carried the series on his back through good times and bad and that has to be acknowledged and praised. The arrowverse, however lackluster in some of its series, still has a strong concrete foundation in arrow after 10 years.

I agree. I think the grounded element helped the show immensely. Damien Darhk made it just hokey and corny. Prometheus was a great villain because again, it circled back to Oliver.

The show took a nose dive when Felicity started to become the focus. It got to a point where it was always Oliver in the wrong and never felicity. I think the best relationship on his show was him and Sarah

I agree, completely. She became for lack of better word - naggy. Not sure why they did that to her. Honestly, it ruined their chemistry entirely too.

@@NaterTot i agree that while felicity could be a little overbearing at times it was because she cared and she and oliver were good together, she could help bring olivers inner light out of him which sarah couldnt do as well. they both grew by being together.

The show's could've remained more consistent in quality if maintained focus on Oliver and had him slowly become more like his comic book counterpart. They also could've expanded the arrow family by making Huntress, Arsenal, Artemis and Emiko recurring characters.

I loved early Smallville, and I think the "villain of the week" format was more so shifted to The Flash. Which when done right, I really like. But Arrow had strength in like you said Amell performance, and the compelling season long story. It was something different from the Smallville format.

In some ways, I miss the "villain of the week" plots in tv shows. Everything I've watched recently has been about a season long conflict arc with little relevant action. The action scenes are all there because they needed action, not because it was pushing the plot forward. One of the shows I think did "villain of the week" best is BBC's Merlin.

@@chrisels9736 I agree. It was kind of a mix of early Smallville villain of the week, and Arrows season long story. I haven’t seen the newest season of Flash, but I know Smallville really started to go down hill once it shifted away from the villain of the week stuff.

I'd go Oliver than Diggle. I think Diggle was good because Ramsey was good. Same thing for Oliver. Stephen Amell is actually a quality actor. I have nothing against any of the folks in The CW shows, but sometimes I felt like they played too far into the, "I'm on a show on The CW."

Yess finally someone putting respect on Arrow’s name I love this show this was the first show superhero show I watched I binged it on Netflix and been in love with the show ever since. And I loved the Arrowverse shows as well there not all good but I still enjoy universe of characters more so than what the DCEU.

Great video! Definitely better than some other ones...CAUGH CAUGH Alex Meyers AHEEM .Arrow is definitely very good! It's intense vibe hits different, arrow even at that time was unique. Thier are some things that don't hold up, like sera's forced feminism, that just feels wierd now. Also you said arrow fell off after season 3, which I toataly disagree with, no offense, season 4 was bad but season 5 made up for it, I actually think it was better than the first 3 ones, season 6 was underrated, season 7 had the best first half in arrowverse, and season 8 was very fun. And I agree, as the arrowverse continued, they made oliver into a sidecharacter, I miss when even in the flash season one, oliver was shown so strong he defeated barry, later people like Lois, Kara, even Sera disrespected him in a very sad way, but atleast oliver is the one who appeared in the final season of the flash, meaning the final season of Arrowverse. But him being disrespected wasn't arrow's fault, it was the other shows which were doing that. This video is so underrated!

While I appreciate Arrow for what it was, CW had everything they could have ever wanted with Green Arrow. A handsome, charming, sarcastic, politically far-left leaning, ball of charisma that can’t let a moment pass without cracking a sly joke, and only ever gets serious when children or the 99% are being taken advantage of by the 1% (Literally any CW executive’s wet dream). Instead, they made an even grumpier Batman knockoff. Still a workable idea if done right, and as long as the character eventually gets to grow into the Ollie we know and love. Season 1 was entertaining and had several great moments, and the first couple episodes of season 2 had him truer to (comic) form than he ever got to be in the rest of the show. Beyond Season two, it just dropped in quality. I was on the Arrow hype train for a long time, but eventually, it felt like the writers cared less than the actors. Stephen’s passion for the character shined in everything he did. By the end, he almost seemed disappointed with where everything was going, but just grit his teeth and kept going.

Sure they could have made a comic book accurate green arrow... but personally a knockoff batman worked when kickstarting the universe. I disagree it started dropping after season 2, it fluctuated a lot tho... from good to bad to great. But I don't think it was a straight up landslide. Idk if Amell was disappointed by how things were... the guy kept a solid performance throughout the series. If he wasn't exactly happy... it'd be pretty obvious by the way he performs.

Seasons 1, 2, 5, and 8 are the best of the show, the first two seasons are amazing that started a universe that is called the Arrowverse with some good writing and two of the best villains in Malcolm Merlyn and Deathstroke, Season 5 is an amazing redemption of the show and connects to Season 1 when Oliver was the Hood, it has an incredible villain of Prometheus, and the cliffhanger in the end was so shocking and amazing, its a shame that it was ruined in Season 6, Felicity should've died in the Lian Yu explosion, it would've have an impactful effect on Team Arrow and will have stakes and would've been a lot better for the show, that way Oliver ends up with Dinah and we have that Green Arrow/Black Canary romantic relationship we fans love so much in the comics. Season 8 was short and was really good with the build up to Crisis on Infinite Earths and Oliver's sacrifice to save the universe, it was a perfect conclusion and ending to Arrow, despite its flaws and issues, it stick the landing and had a good final season.

I think we all collectively agree that season 4 of Arrow was Arrow at its worst. Season 3 was just bland, the tease of Oliver’s death to Ra’s was cool but didn’t last long at all, they should’ve tried harder for season 4 but holy did it flop hard. The fights were shit, look at the finale fight between Oliver and Dhark, they’re just standing directly in front of each other and punching, nothing else. The story was average at best, it’s nothing special and Dhark was pretty mid too. The whole magic aspect was dumb, it’s always cool to see Oliver fight his own darkness but goddamn does S5 do it SOO much better. By this point just skip S4, only part you’ll miss is Laurel’s death

Rewatching season 1 right now. And man I was really just like you, in love with the show when it first debuted. Everything was amazing and had me on the edge of my seat. However, the show fell off for me after like season 3, and it just became too much nonsense. The first 1-3 seasons are actually too good.

I be Real without Stephen Emelie and David the Show would have failed. The actress for Laurel wasnt good in her role until she got to play Evil laurel,and personly why i kinda see comic Fans beribg annoyed with felicity the whole Felicity helping Oliver beeing a better person and Shows him ther is Good in him was very smart and gave them a contrast. Laurel and Oliver had a unhealthy relationship. He and Felicity didnt. Romance is a needed Element in superhero Shows,Not just the Action. And in a 24 episode season you canr expect just Action. Overall the Story is about Oliver becoming a better person. He starts of as a BOY ends it as a Man With a Beutifull wife who loves understands and cares for him without question. The s5ö4 break up Was Messel writen becaus they didnt explain it early enough. A simple IT ISNT ABOUT YOU HAVING A SON BUT ME BEEING AFRAID YOU GONE SEND OUR CHILDREN AWAY ONCEWE HAVE THEM WITHOUT TALKING TO ME Yes William Was his son but they wher engaged. And abondonment issues caus deep rostet Problems that make you leave when things gets scary and that Was what they wher going for . They should have ajustet thisxplotpoint from full on break zp to end of Engagement and working trough the issues though. Ist you cant change it now. Personly i hatet the whole leting go of growndedness. Im ok eith the Technologie things they added as that Was atleast cool and in theory possible but still. 5x20 is one of my fav episodes.

The first three seasons and the fifth one are great imo the others just felt a little like a drag at points.. however i love the flash show aswell. Both arrow and flash next to gotham were some amazing comic book adaptations on tv
