As someone with ADHD i find it really upsetting that Gabbie CONSTATNLY puts it down our throats that she has ADHD. Yes ADHD and neurodivergency of any kind can make you act outside of the "norm" but it does NOT excuse awful behaviour and I feel like Gabbie is weaponizing her ADHD as an excuse for being an awful person

okay I hear you, I also have ADHD. But consider this, ADHD is the only thing she KNOWS she has. I also have a cluster B disorder, and seeing the way she acts how emotional she is, how quick to extremes she is, how much she overshares, these signal to another underlying disorder Not ADHD. so I agree that she shouldn't say its her ADHD but lets be so for real, she acts this way because she is mentally ill. She shouldn't try and use her mental illness as an excuse, but it is deffo an explanation for her unacceptable behavior (and if you look at her channel today, you can see she's done a lot of work on herself)

As someone with ADHD and a degree in psychology, I need Gabbie to not talk about ADHD online. Like yes, it causes very real problems beyond "omg can't sit still and talk really fast", and we should be talking about those problems more, but when she uses those symptoms to excuse her shitty behaviour, it makes me so mad because 1) Her description of the symptoms is not always accurate, and there's enough misinformation about mental health online without her, and 2) a lot of us already have trouble getting people to take our disability seriously, so when someone with as large a platform as her is going around bullying people who review her poetry book and using her ADHD to say "well you just don't get it because you're not neurodivergent", it gives people who don't want to acknowledge that ADHD is a real disability a person to point at and say "no, you guys are just using it as an excuse like she is". I am someone who generally believes that having a disorder like ADHD does give you some credibility when talking about it, because lived experience is a very important perspective that often isn't covered in things like the DSM-5, but having ADHD does not make you an expert, does not mean your experience is universal and does not mean you can use your ADHD to explain away you being a bad person.
@Lynsey174 ай бұрын
Yeah, many ADHD sufferers were very pissed when she used this as her diagnosed de jour in this series. I remember so many responses about that aspect in particular. As a woman around Gabbie's age who had only recently been diagnosed & was just starting to learn which aspects of my personality were ADHD related when she released these, I found her VERY insulting.

It could be a vocal tick or sorts. I know that both my father and I (both diagnosed adhd) have specific “filler” words we use when speaking because our brains move so much faster than our mouths that we stumble or lose our train of thought, and that happens often. And growing up people will tell you it’s rude to say “um” a lot so you kinda have to find other words that can serve the same purpose as saying “um” but sound like more of a conscious response than stammering 😅 Not trying to defend gabby. I just wanted to offer another explanation for why she may do that. I’ve been made fun of in a very similar way to the filler words I used when speaking as a kid (mostly “like”). Just something to think about.

Tbh i think she posted these because it felt good to feel like she was proving her point. She probably thought this would sway the public in her favor. I think she deleted them because she felt the audience was still "misunderstanding" her after all the work she put into these. These vids are like the talks with your friends showing your entire side + narrative where it feels good to get off your chest. She was relying on her fans to feel moved, and when they weren't it was a bit of an ego smasher. Like if your friend doesnt agree with you on something youre venting about, im not surprised she deleted them lol

The reason why Gabbie has removed the videos still, at least one reason she’s mentioned is that she thought posting them would give her peace and control about her side and responses but she actually didn’t find peace in releasing her voice and during her actual healing era after the weed emotional purge one she started valuing finding peace outside of KZbin, an audience and people ❤ thanks for doing these revisits with a balanced perspective it’s refreshing
@lornatw4 ай бұрын
She didn’t realise that her healing came from releasing things out loud not the posting part. She’s already felt at peace by just organising her thoughts and story privately and I think she didn’t realise how impactful that already was because she already had been set in actually releasing it all and don’t realise that she’s then have to reprocess again publically. I don’t think it was with bad intention she just didn’t realise her peace when she had it- that little time before releasing everything.

Oh no, as someone who was on mental health drugs, drinking, and smoking weed, you may think it's therapeutic at the time, in the moment, but it's not. You don't remember processing it and it comes back like you're finding out for the first time. There are so many chunks missing in my memory. I had to relive finding out a favorite teacher had self-deleted, a friend had self-deleted, and my uncle had passed. You're not supposed to mix *any* mental health drugs with alcohol or weed, but doing both at the same time will *really* mess with your memory.
@noonoolink68224 ай бұрын
I agree to an extent, Gabbie needed actually help and not weed. Not to mention if you are bipolar you shouldn't be smoking weed period same with schizophrenia and various other mental health. I love weed always have, but it isn't for some people and I think gabbies public breakdown was only made worse by weed.
