It was actually the reverse. Brian Johnson took cues from the Apollo space program spacecrafts, particularly the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) to influence the design of the Eagle.

Again, forgive late comment. Great vid! I had a DINKY Eagle when I was a wee lad...but the version that had a winch and magnet to pick up radioactive waste. Beautiful model.
@InterstellarModeler7 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember those. There was a toy store at a neighborhood shopping center when I was a kid and they had all of the DINKY Eagles lined up. Used to go to that store to whenever my parents took me there just to admire them through the glass cabinet....couldn't afford to buy any of them. Now I get to have this big Eagle sitting on my shelf. :)

Great additions, really love the lights
@MarcFraley8 жыл бұрын
The lighting looks amazing and really brings the Eagle to life! Thanks for the shout out my friend! The lighting configuration shown in the lighting kit made for this model, look like taxi lights to me. Since the Eagle does not taxi and uses a VTOL system, taxi lights would not be needed. Your configuration looks more logical. The only addition where lighting is concerned, and if you had room, would be navigation lights on the pods and maybe a spot light or two! LOL! Great work as always!!

Thanks Marc....your advice has been invaluable. Only wish I would've consulted you a little sooner. I might have squeezed in those nav lights :)

hi again,like what you've with lighting gives the model some life.As for using super glue which though quick isn`t always reliable,use a good glue then a kicker to help it quickly set.Richard

Nice work. The mods look great and make sense. I still wish I had this version. I'll hopefully get one in the future. I might add green and red port/starboard lights.
@richardgrahame54088 жыл бұрын
I agree most normal liquid glue from a tube won't take it,but isn't it CA glue range and Tamiya glues will.Running Tamiya thin glue along the seam,then quick spray with kicker would give more permanent fix as super glue degrades over time.

Great Video and model ! Looks like an early version of the NASA design of the "24-Hour Lunar Shuttle" (LEO to LLO). The Lunar Shuttle would take about eighteen tourist and Lunar Workers to the South Lunar Polar Base. And a two person crew for the round trip mission. The Lunar Shuttle would operate in the deep gravity wells of the Earth, the Moon and Mars. The Eagles engines would be cooled by a Bryton engine and generate 25 K Watts of electric power per engine. tjl

Really great work! I like your decision to light the door of the passenger module. By the way, did you know about an MPC accessory kit that provides real aluminum turned exhaust bells for both the main engines and underbody retro engines? They look amazing. Might be worth considering to swap those in for this model, given all of the attention to detail you've done.
@InterstellarModeler11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great comments. Yeah I’m aware of those pieces. I have one more eagle to build and may opt for those with kitZ. Thanks again

@@InterstellarModelerYou're welcome. I haven't started on my kit as yet and probably won't until the summer. But inching forward with plans. I will look into those lighting accessories you mentioned. By the way, have you used any of those laser etched parts from Paragrafix like the PGX199 set? Looks interesting.
@vaderbri4 жыл бұрын
I just got the pre-assemble 22 inch version of this model. Before I start trying to tear things apart. I was wondering if it does come apart in a way to be able to add wires and batteries on the inside. In particular, being able to take apart the landing gear pods.
@InterstellarModeler4 жыл бұрын
Hi....I'm afraid I have no advice for you. I would be hesitant to take something like that apart but it all will depend on how it's pieced together. I assume it's the same model and the pods would be a challenge to disassemble especially since there's the spring system in place. My suggestion is to forgo any interior lighting and maybe think of a way of putting it in a display with lights shining down on it to highlight the exterior detailing.

Could you use the base of a drawing pin for that dish on top of the flight deck? Btw you should make a diorama for it

Not sure about using a drawing pin. As for the diorama...just no room. This is model is almost 3ft in length. Thanks for watching

Sorry, misunderstanding - I meant lights at the bottom of the cargo pod
@InterstellarModeler8 жыл бұрын
I actually considered that but I figured it would be a bit overkill due to the landing gear lights.
@hectorlanzo82959 ай бұрын
Hey I'm a fan of the serie...one question, We both know that the eagles never used navigational lights. But could you install them to this eagle? I really think that it would look really good. And I also agree with workerbee-zy5nx, your kit it's movie quality with all the details.
@InterstellarModeler9 ай бұрын
There’s room to do so. Probably best to go on the side pods somewhere? It’s too late for this eagle though. You would have to open the model back risking damage. Accessing the wiring to the power source would be a challenge especially because its all soldered together now. Thanks for watching though. I really appreciate it and your kind compliments.

Just bought this model and cant wait to get started! LOVE your light effects. Is this the flasher you used? www.modeltrainsoftware.com/products/quick-flash-circuit-only?_pos=1&_sid=e55392063&_ss=r Also what size leds did you use? Great work man!
@InterstellarModeler5 жыл бұрын
Yes that's the one although I had them make it with just two flashing LEDs. The door LEDs were nano sized SMDs while the land gear SMDs were chip sized. The command module can be lit with either a nano or a mega sized SMD depending on the brightness that you're after. Thanks for the compliment.

@@InterstellarModeler You welcome man. Looks wicked! Question...are your LED's actually white? They look bluish in the video but could just be from the camera?

Myles Jarvis yes they’re all cool blue. I often choose cool blue for exterior lighting, warm for interior....just a preference.
