Revisiting the Masonic Avocado Tree

I’m back to check on the avocado fruit on the Masonic Avocado tree, only to discover that the fruit likely needs at least 3-6 months, and maybe even more than that. Without knowing its ripening months, it’s hard to say for now. I’ll be returning to this tree around May to see how it’s progressing.

Yes, I do like the soft bag of the new picker, but I'm not sure I like how well its plastic edging works on breaking the stem of the fruit. It's a little tricky breaking the stems with this one. I might have to use the old one to compare...

Hi, Jenny 😊 I’m in Martinez. I grow I think off hand, about 14 varieties. All my trees are young, under three years. Most are doing very well. Ten in ground and the rest are in 30 gal half wine barrels. I grow Lots of seedlings for grafting. I visited the Second Red yesterday and also Masonic. Thanks again for sharing information on location. You might want to consider joining our group, Northern California Backyard Avocado Growers. Hi Jenny, I’m growing Zutano, Fuerte, Hass, Gem, Reed, Carman, Lamb, Sharwil, Palo d’ oro, Queen, Nabal, Mexicola, Edranol, Gwen, Pinkerton and two Hass Costco seedlings with six local trees grafted to them. Bonny Doon, Don Gillogly, Ardith and a few seedling grafts from seedling trees that are local. I think you mentioned that it is an obsession 😂🤪 good luck with your trees and grafts!

@ that is impressive, my friend. I think you may very well have one of the finer collections of avocados I’ve come across. If you ever put up a video of your trees, I’d love to see it. The only time I’ve been able to see a backyard collection that big was when I visited Ellen & Freddie’s orchard of Epicenter. That was a fun tour.
