I agree with all your nitpicking. People don't realize how important all these little details matter when seconds matter. People like to talk sh1t on trex arms but it's gear made by shooters for shooters. Their stuff just works and works great. Same with Safari land. It's expensive but it has hours of research behind all their products. This opaz Holster has great ideas. It's just implemented in such a poor way. It's obvious this holster did not get any field testing at all if any. It just sucks this holster is my only option. I'm poor so all I have is a sd9ve with a cheap olight, so there is very little options I have for holsters 😞 Might have to get one and use my tools n Dremel to customize it and make it operate better Thanks for the great detailed video.

I agree. As for your dilemma. I see a few more "inexpensive" options but a lot are single clip attachment points and those have always worried me. I have plans to test single points but fate has no placed them in my hands. Hopefully soon!

HEY! I had to make a small relief cut in mine to allow the manual safety on my M&P 9mm to fully engage when holstered. Holstering/unholstering in a hurry or without looking CAN flick the safety off, and you could only engage it about halfway before the relief cut. Really, WHO CARES, but I figured "why not?". Actually, if I'm CAREFUL holstering/unholstering I can AVOID flicking the safety off. Again, not a biggie, since, when holstered, the TRIGGER AIN'T GETTIN' PULLED anyway! Hell, I may DELETE the manual safety in the future... who knows? I LIKE mine, other than for the reasons I mentioned in my main comment (IMPORTANT: check it out), and it's not the FIRST holster that has needed a little tweaking!

Thanks for your review. The holster looks more like a High Ride Law Enforcement Holster, What you seem to be asking for is a mid ride or low ride holster. That holster is not for Concealed Carry in the configuration you have it in. Drawing without Keepers will always cause draw issues with any weapon. I am concerned with the retention breaking

Bro, wrong model for your light. You are using a T-40 that is a holster for compact light not desing to fit Glocks with TLR-1. You should try it with the Orpaz T-40X that is the right one for your equipment. It will fit very well your equipment and you will fill a much, much better grip.

I made this purchase recently with the drop leg (hasn’t arrived yet) and curious if you thought a small cut along the backside to reduce the bite on the trigger well was reasonable without sacrificing safety of the trigger well? As well, was the broken retention clip due to it catching on the sights or the rear slide? (If you happen to remember) Thank you!
@EverydayZach
@EverydayZach 7 ай бұрын
I have to say it (These opinions are mine and if you follow anything I say, you do so at your own risk and I hold no responsibility for what you do) That out of the way.. I think reducing the size of the trigger guard slightly to allow for better hand positioning while drawing would be a great idea! Do it correctly and you should have no safety issue! I would personally use a Dremel or bastard file to reduce the diameter of the trigger guard. As for the retention flap, That happened as I was practicing quick drawing. It didn't move out of the way fast enough while drawing and happened to just get stuck in front of the rear of the gun as I drew and broke. Upon further inspection, it looks like it was injection molded and had air bubbles in the plastic causing a reduction is strength and ultimately failure. I hope this was the information you were looking for! Good luck and thanks for watching!

This video is a perfect example of ignorance. I have 3 Orpaz holsters, 2 T40s and 1 T40x, running for 3 years no issues on my G17s and 19s. Even ran them on the LEO qual course no issues. Solution to your "sits to high" problem > get the low to mid rise attachment instead of the belt attachment. Orpaz is modular by nature and has so many options to fit your mission. For your "pull" problem. It's a tactical holster, tighten your belt or wear a better belt system.
@EverydayZach

Diid you really "Like" your own comment?? 😅😅 Ignorance? 😁 why do you have 2 T40's? Whats wrong with the first one? Lmfao.. you obviously didn't watch the full video and already made an assumption before watching which shows a bias to a brand.. I don't sugar coat my reviews and my reviews are just that. MY review. I determine what i do and don't like about a holster by actively wearing and using it. You must have missed the fact that the flimsy plastic "lock" broke and how two holes came non threaded. I should also mention i have another video of a different holster where i said i like it. And also should mention that their customer server is shit and i had to file a claim with amazon to get my money back because after returning it with a tracking number, they said they never received it 😑 you talk about ignorance but can't look at things from any other perspective then your own.. youtube might not be a place for you..
@AVTorres
@AVTorres 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed.. I noticed much of what you said. I use it with my G19 Gen 5 MOS w/TLR8 + Vortex Venom.. There's nothing tactical about me. I consider myself more methodical than anything. Belt shouldn't have so much give when drawing. I like that it's hard to pull. Part of why I hate open carry is because of how easy I see it is to take someone's gun, especially with no retention.Then, I find it's not hard for me to pull especially as my thumb is pushing down on the release/holster at the same time I'm drawing. I can draw it with no belt. You're not getting a positive grip anyway because the release is in the way of the thumb. But, as you draw, it all lines up nicely. As far as the knuckle issue, seems some some adjustments need to be made with the fitment. I'm comparing with my own. I see my gun sits a bit lower than his yet nothing is in the way of my middle finger. Then, that takes me to the safety piece breaking. Seems to me it's too close, too tight to the back. Seems easy to get stuck when you're trying to draw. Perhaps I got an updated model??? My favorite part about this holster so far, it fits my G26 gen 4 w/TLR6 AND the extended barrel which I think most of us can agree is just a regular G19 barrel that's threaded. It sits at the same level as my G19. I'm sure it will sink in much more without the threaded barrel. The retention is not as strong as with the G19 however, still strong enough that it took a lot of effort to try to jerk it out the holster. It really didn't want to come out. G19 disnt drop at all.

I have the orpaz level 2 for my Walther, and it has been a dream. I have not been able to find a light holster for it, and I am taking a chance on this. I think this is for the drop leg platform rig. That magnet strength is not meant to belt wear. Sure, they sell it with a paddle or whatever, but I believe it was meant for the rig, and they are just seeing if they can provide different ways or applications of the holster. IRT r&d...so to speak. I see this video is two years old, so let's hope they decided to figure that flap breaking out. When I researched the holster, I thought that may be a flaw. The moment one draws to quickly or whatever,that snaps. Mine actually came in today. If you want,respond to this, and I can let you know if there have been any mods. I got this for my Walther 5"m1. Nothing but n.s. and now I will apply a light. Good video brother. Peace and God Bless.

I initially thought the retention was like their other holster which was internal to the holster (not that weird bar behind the slide) and that makes the holster pretty bad imo

I have to agree. Other than the magnet there is no locking retention like the base model holsters. I have one for my Walther and it is awesome. I was hoping to get the same quality from this "specialized" holster and it seems...cheaper with that one feature. I just assumed it would be stronger and way more durable. Mine came in today. When I get home from debt slavery camp I will look at it and I am.off tomorrow so a day of research for this guy.

A point on nitpicking: it has to be comfortable for the shooter, and anything that doesn't work for the shooter is worth recognizing. Anyway, I prefer one that does ride high (I once fought for my life with a guy who tried to get my gun out of its holster) but this gun's features appear to miss out in the durability department.

That is what I was going to do until the backstrap that secures the firearm in the holster broke. after that I sent it back to the seller where they told me they never received it even though I had a tracking number that showed it was delivered. twice they did that btw. If I have to modify a holster to work with a firearm they said should work perfectly with, its not a good holster. I feel the people making these holsters don't actually carry firearms or train. How do you feel about the blackhawk omnivore holster?
@EverydayZach
@EverydayZach 2 жыл бұрын
The Omnivore is an okay holster. Its retention is off the Light on the firearm so it wiggles a bit while walking. It does fit many different Handguns so thats nice if you are at the range and don't want to constantly switch holsters. but as for safety, I don't fully trust it. It's bulky, takes up a lot of real estate, and doesn't feel super secure. But it does the job and I wore it for about 6 months with no complications.

OK, definitely not a "duty-grade" holster, based on the weakness of the rear retention "flipper". I wondered before purchase whether it might be a plastic-overmolded metal part, but apparently not. If they ARE still all-plastic, let's stipulate that a "bad guy" MAY be able to "break" your pistol out of the holster, just keep in mind that he is likely to be in an awkward position when trying to do so, which will make it harder to break the part. And just think: EVEN IF the flipper was METAL, the "bad guy" might get lucky and accidentally hit the release lever ANYWAY! : ) However, if the lever broke while DRAWING, it means you didn't release it BEFORE pulling on the pistol. Make sure to leave AT LEAST a 2mm gap between the rear flipper and the rear of slide. Don't try to release AND draw simultaneously; it won't work. In fact, you should (lightly) push the pistol INTO the holster as you hit the release, THEN draw the pistol, a technique which also helps to ease the release of Serpa-type trigger-guard retention levers. With practice, you CAN do both within 1/4-second, but you shouldn't do both (release AND yank) AT ONCE. If you're in THAT big of a hurry (e.g., during competition), just LEAVE the flipper in the open position. REMEMBER the MAGNET. BUT, looks like you have the wrong-size light-housing; the TLR-1 takes the LARGE housing, which makes the holster Model a T40X. This is why your adjustment is at such an extreme, and probably why the trigger-cover portion of the light housing interferes with your grip. Of course, you could just make a relief cut to clear your finger, but having the smaller housing cause other issues. With my M&P 9mm, the trigger guard RIDES in the matching groove in the "bottom" of the Medium light housing, whereas yours has a large gap there due to a too-large light in a Medium housing. I have a smaller laser/light combo, and the entire pistol/holster setup looks like it was designed by one person. Which gets to another point: These holsters are NOT (quite) pistol-specific. There is only ONE version of the main unit, plus the Medium and Large light housings, and the only reason you have to select your pistol model when ordering is to confirm that it is ONE OF the various models that fit. This is part of why I like it, since changing PISTOL or LIGHT or even BOTH may be able to be handled by simple adjustments, as long it is one of the models supported. Hell, OTHERS that they haven't tested yet may fit as well, as long as they are not unicorns. Just think: Why would it need to be adjustable, if it was MADE to fit YOUR pistol exclusively? It WASN'T. The two un-threaded holes in the back? What do you need them for, since I'm not aware of any attachments that use them? YES, why DIDN'T Orpaz thread (or "insert") them, but I've had no need for them YET. The magnet: They now come with two self-adhesive vinyl pads to mitigate magnet-strength, one 1mm thick and one 2mm thick. Not the BEST idea, since the adhesive allows the pad to creep off-center eventually. They need to make similar-thickness plastic CUPS that SNAP over the magnet, so they can't "walk-off" AND so you could swap back-and-forth without dealing with the sticky-stuff. Actually, I never wanted my muzzle riding on the hard surface in the first place, so the pads are good temporarily, though I will likely come up with a "cup" of my own eventually : ) And don't forget: There are ALL KINDS of optional parts to accommodate different barrel lengths, such as the Sub Compact Pistols extension for shorter barrels, as well as the Threaded Barrel Extension for longer & threaded barrels, all included in the T-Series Adapters Kit. P.S., I ordered mine from Amazon as well, but did a LOT of reading on the Orpaz site FIRST : )

Most of it is personal opinions and as someone who has had to draw his firearm a few times as armed security, I can say this holster is not safe.
