I am an electrician. It is not safe to place a 30A breaker on a 20A circuit. The breaker protects the wire that is connected to the circuit. 12awg wire is good for 20A. The outlet is rated for 20A. The problem is, with continuous use with a 30A breaker there is a risk to overload the wire to the point it will heat up and possibly cause a fire. Repeated heating/cooling cycles on the wire will also cause the wire to expand and contract and over time connections to the breaker and outlet will loosen and cause the connection to dangerously heat up. Many houses burn down due to loose connections that heat up to the point of causing ignition. Not good advise to connect a 20A circuit to a 30A breaker.

I spent the first two and a half minutes saying what you just typed.

@@3rdpig I heard what you said. The problem is folks watch these videos and conclude if it "worked" for you it will work for them. Just making a statement with a wink and a nod to "safety factor" and saying "don't do this" is dangerous. I can't believe Simder actually told you to do this. It may work with the PC on a dedicated outlet, but no one knows the wiring situation at someone else's shop. Their circuit could serve multiple outlets and they could overload the circuit even if they aren't using the PC. You can overload the wiring and never trip the breaker. I see folks teaching how to make dryer connections for home generators on here also. They "work", but they'll also kill someone if done improperly. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night telling people to do stuff that may burn their shops/house down. I hope you reconsider this video and tell Simder the are exposing themselves to a tremendous amount of risk by saying this.

@@jmac3163We all know how smart you are now, thanks. And I'm going to pin this comment to the top so everyone can bask in your brilliance.

@@3rdpig That's awesome, maybe it'll keep someone from from making a bad decision. I don't pretend to be smarter than anyone. I have been doing this for 35 years and I've seen the damage that can be done as a result of shortcuts. When my truck breaks, I listen to the mechanic. When I'm sick, I listen to my Dr. They're not neccesarilly smarter than anyone else, but they have expertise in an area that I do not, so I listen to them. Have a good day.

I am really impressed with the one handed camera work as most people make it so shaky its not worth watching, but not only good camera work but a very nice cut while filming. So Mr. Bryant which plasma cutter would you recommend if I can't get one of these for $150.
@3rdpig Жыл бұрын
Thanks, but if it wasn't for stabilization my videos would be as shaky as the others you've seen. From what I've tested in plasma cutters, I'd get the Vevor, as long as you don't want pilot arc. And to be honest, if you're running on 110v pilot arc is all but useless.

Are you sure you've got the torch assembled correctly and the ground hooked up? Might also want to pop the torch apart and make sure the wires on the microswitch inside the torch are connected. You could jump the switch at the same time to check it. Their website has contact info, I'll put the link below. Good luck! www.ssimder.com/pages/contact-us

Will it cut painted sheet metal
@3rdpig5 ай бұрын
Once the arc is started it burns through paint. If the paint is thick you might have to scrape off small spots for the ground clamp and electrode. You can also buy a plasma cutter with pilot arc, then you won't need to scrape off a spot for the electrode, but you will still need a bare spot for the ground clamp.
