it's interesting to see plays where an entire team collectively turns their brain off for a minute, and chaos immediately ensues

Yeah for me that is definitely the worst play I've ever seen.. and one of the funniest.. Baez calling the runner at home safe when he was still at risk of being forced out at 1st (and so the run not even scoring) was absolutely hilarious

Definitely sloppy but it was a low leverage/stress situation. Regular season game where the Dodgers were up by 7 runs in the 6th inning. After the play they were still up by 5 runs.

That hanley throw was 50 centesque. kershaw was appropriately backing up the play. no one anticipated the throw to be 20 ft off coming from shallow center field

Vin Scully worked this game, and the dismay in his voice was palpable. When Kershaw jumped out of the way to not get spiked, Vin called it the only smart thing the Dodgers did in that play. That play was so iconically bad, when FOX made a baseball TV show titled "Pitch" a couple of years later, they reenacted that exact comedy of errors in one episode.
@Praetoriusify4 күн бұрын
Man, I love seeing Hanley "line up" that throw to the plate and then chuck it like 20 feet wide, lol. Wow, what a clownfest. Still doesn't compare to the Yankee's 5th inning meltdown. Or to Javy Baez's play against the Pirates between home and first, lol.

Imagine going back a decade, all to dig up an obscure regular season game where the Dodgers had an 6-run lead in the 6th inning. Why? Just to exclaim, "L-look, the Dodgers make little league blunders too! It's not just the Yankees." Never mind the minor detail that those Yankee little league errors happened in the World Series, with a 5-run lead in the 5th inning, resulting in an epic choke. But sure, let's focus on that mid-season Dodgers game from 10 years ago. C’mon, you’re gotta try harder.

No, the sloppiest play in MLB history occurred on August 17, 1946 in a game between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. With the score tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Luther Fuchs of the Tigers tried to score from second base on a base hit by Tiny Freemantle. There was a play at the plate, and as Fuchs began to slide, he suffered an attack of explosive diarrhea, fouling himself, Cleveland catcher Big Joe Bombacelli, and home plate. THAT was the single sloppiest play in MLB history. You can look it up.
@joebarr72514 күн бұрын
