Charlie Setterfield shows you the strategy for creating and managing custom stacked walls in Revit. Duplicating, renaming, editing and rearranging the stacked wall system family are explained in this part one of two. In part two (Stacked Wall Materials) I examine how to create a custom material to use as an accent band in a stacked masonry wall. Comments and requests welcome! Thanks for watching.

Thank-you, very helpful video sir; however I believe by the end of the year I will have found fault with every tutorial. You know as well as I do that there are a number of Brick types that have individual heights, widths and depths, but the standard height size is 2 1/4” modular (approximately 2 2/3” which include a mortar joint) with reference to the 8” (7 5/8”) CMU block modular height. Three brick courses per block. However you are using metal studs; but I have found it very helpful using the same practice as if the wall was block. The brick reveal is formed only by the fact that the brick recesses back into the air space (finger space) between the CMU or Metal stud partition. Why does this imaginary outline appear on the exterior face of the brick? Will I be able to show this correctly when developing the Wall Section? Also the revel location from the finish floor is important; likewise the reveal from the base. If the intention is to use a 4” face brick at the base and then use standard brick size for the remainder of the wall, then 3’-0” above the first floor will achieve a CMU block coursing. The mason can always pick up some fudge with-in the mortar joints while staking the brick if necessary. I believe the Revit tutorials should also remind the draftsman or Architect the construction of a building. Please forgive me but I am very frustrated with Revit and the approach in developing construction documents. I believe you and I both see 3D, 4D, 7D (all the 'D' images) when drawing; you and I don’t need a computerized generated device and software to see these images. My main question is that when using REVIT should I take the intricacy detailing, coordination and the huge amount of TIME required to generate (system assemblies) a wall partition or exterior wall section at the schematic design stage? Or do I just draw 2 lines? I suppose with REVIT it seems foolish not to thoroughly create these system assemblies (down to the brick ties) before drawing……..however I have never developed my intended wall types during preliminary/schematic design. Thank you
