Works with the walls too. Thanks for the brilliant video. Helped a lot.

Hi, how to move a part up or down vertically after dividing into parts. For example, i have a finish floor running into balcony where the tile or finish floor would be 1" or 25mm down from the same room

Thank you alot for this video it helped me alot and May i ask how can i reverse make parts to change the boundary of whole slab
@Hagerman_brettbarkman4 жыл бұрын
In the view properties, change Parts Visibility to Show Original. Then you can modify the boundary of the slab.

Very nice tutorial. But what about if those parts have different levels like one part is a step higher and the other part is a step lower? Hope you can also make a tutorial for that. Thanks.
@Alana93749 жыл бұрын
+littlebear You can use those things called "Assemblies" in Revit. Or, try modeling separate slabs. Or just make a "In Place family" and model whatever you want to represent your floor.
@Mr448839 жыл бұрын
You can perform this same task using the split face and paint tools.

Will this trick works if the walls are present? I've tried this with the walls up and it's not working.

Thanks for the tip. As you said at our firm we use 2 floors: one for the structure and another for the finish (1/2") with a preassigned material. This method is pretty fast, Is there a particular reason to use create parts.
@Hagerman_brettbarkman2 жыл бұрын
Parts are typically created from a wall/floor/ceiling/roof/etc. element in order to separate the layers into individual components for the purpose of construction/fabrication, or maybe even to produce an assembly-type view. This is just an alternative way to separate the finish surfaces when you don't want to create each individual floor. Hope this helps.

There are a number of settings that can affect the visibility of elements in a view. I would need to review your model to find out what exactly is going on. This is something we do for customers through our support services. If you'd like to know more about that I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

@@Hagerman_brettbarkman Turns out you have to set the bottom view range to end below the floor to display the parts.

But if you have walls with their bottom attached on the floor, you want their core boundary to attach on the core of the slab and the finish attached on the floor finish. How can you do that using parts?

besides the Show Both setting in properties for the view, what else could cause my parts to not show up (on in VV)? I can see them in 3D, but not in a plan. Also, when i assign different materials to the parts, their surface patterns overlap (I see both). This may be a graphics drive issue wiht 2013. still looking into that. Otherwise, great tip.

Do I have to make two separate floors- slab floor and finishing floor? I am little bit confuse about it, How can I show the slab level and Finish Floor Lvl. , Practically Slab Thickness is 200 MM & 100 MM Finish Floor. Pleaes reply
@Hagerman7 жыл бұрын
JOHN Mills, to create a schedule that will report both the slab level and finish floor level you will need two floors. You do not need to create a separate slab to assign a material, that can be assigned as a property in the room.

I tried it also just a moment ago in 2012 and also cannot seem to show the divided parts in plan like in the video. But when i deleted the floor slab it gives a warning that its parts were also deleted. Very weird. And yes i've changed the parts visibility to "show both" already.
@littlebear822510 жыл бұрын
littlebear Ahhh. I got it. It just a matter of adjusting your view range. Presto, the parts are now showing.
