Hi guys - thanks for the insights and understanding on IFC Q - how do I find more out the interoperability of basic geometry data from 3D DWG w ASICS solids to IFC? Keen to move data on structural and non load bearing geometry within revit : IFC for a single digital twin seamlessly. The commentary sounded like IFC is not great for editing or sending structural design / analysis back into revit? I’m trying to establish best practice for residential house typology for digital twin working in cloud.

And what about export of links from Revit. I mean if we want to see the whole door like IfcDoor and IfcDoor will contain three different components, for example, Door frame, Door leaf, Door handle? Is it possible?

Thank you for this video. I could learn how other counties dealing with IFC. I love to have someone who can discuss about this more. My question is who is going to validate if the exported ifc is correct as handout and how. Like you demonstrated it was not so simple and not so successful to exported Customize Pset, chooing a MVD to export from a software doesn’t guarantee it can be open as the same MVD in the other software. Are you required to follow Customized MVD in Scandinavia? And do you have validation tool to test what exported as ifc is desire able? You might somehow align MVD for two different softwares but who knows if the ifc exported correctly or even the elements modeled correctly before exporting IFC! Submitting IFC doesn’t guarantee to open as it is intended. Especially geometry definition is impossible to align for all types of software. I guess as the focus on IFC 5.0 is more open data focus rather than file-base so that kinda teaches me that IFC isn’t file to use to preserve data for long time just like native format for each software. So well structured data but not file is something we all look for. The government in Japan has totally misunderstood use of IFC, trying to use it as exchangeable data format between software, including geometry definition, while IFC4.0 DT seems dead on arrival and IFC 5 is looking for new way to say what is openBIM by developing API more to open data. I would like to know more about ifc use cases after exporting if possible in the future.
