This is great for a person with experience in Revit, I was able to find a wood structure family online and load into my project, edit it how I wanted. I then followed the steps to apply it to my project. I very nearly skipped this as there wasn't any sound, I think if you recorded yourself people would 100% enjoy this more. Thanks for your help

I don’t think beam system works on curved plane. You can try curtain wall, or mass with pattern based family, or adaptive family.

how could you use this on a curved wall, like a cylinder shape? i dont think revit can set curved reference planes

No, you won't be able to place beam system on a curved wall, but there are different ways to do it, I'll have a think...

Try to search Autodesk Revit Content, you can download them from Autodesk Website.

I believe I used beam system for this exercise, which means we need to load some structural framing family first. The structural framing families are usually located in the Revit Family under Structural Framing. If you can not find the family, google "how to download revit content" and you will be able to find the Autodesk Website, from which you can download the content file (make sure you pick the one that matches your version and language) and install it on your computer. After that, you should be able to load a structural framing (beam) family and continue working on the beam system. Please let me know if you still have issues.
