This video is worth a like just for Lion. That's an example how much fantasy and inventive there were back in the day. Now, this inventive still exist almost only in the indie sector.

Thanks! And yeah, Wolf and Lion were special. Also, double yeah, so yeah-yeah, indie games are fire these days! Not all, but many really fun concepts come out of them. :)

There was a game like Lion but you were a wolf. I -played that tons, so realistic, a true SIM, unlike SIMs of today!

It was actually Lion's direct predecessor - Wolf. :)

Lion is certainly different. It’s not my bag but I do see why it has the cult following it has. Geometry Wars takes me back! I had it on Xbox back in the day & it was fun but it can be hard to see where your ship is at times. Crystalis is new to me, I don’t know it at all? Certainly looks more fun than talking to your boss’ wife? Never played Streets of Rogue but I’m up for a 2D Rogue like. It looks fun & I like the stylisation. What a great list, thanks. Going for the less flashy 3D games opens the door to overlooked games that are well worth a look.
@OldAndNewVideoGames2 күн бұрын
Yeah, Geometry Wars can get chaotic as hell! xD And nothing is less fun than talking to my boss wife. Especially when she jumps on the subject of her insane theories. xD Streets of Rogue IS AMAZING! And I don't use capitals where I don't have to. xD

Lion feels like an off-brand Maxis "Sim" title, in a parallel universe I could see it being called SimLion alongside SimAnt etc.

Roar! :D And a bacon like! 🥓 Lions do indeed hang out with meercats and warthogs and sing hakuna matata together. I hope I get to do that in the Lion game too. :D Geometry Wars could be the name of so many fun maths-themed games... I'm a bit disappointed this one has no maths at all in it. It looks fun enough though. I actually like onions, so Streets of Rogue is perfect for me. :D All that variety is just all kinds of cool. :) You know, I think that balancing the classes in an RPG is important in a multiplsyer game with PVPs, so that even the smallest dwarf can stand a fair chance against anyone else. In a story-driven game, I believe that it's normal for not all classes to have the same ease of winning.
@OldAndNewVideoGames2 күн бұрын
Well, if it gets you to try Lion out... Sure, you get to sing Hakuna matata. xD GW is excellent, IF you like arcade shooters, especially those really old arcade ones. If not then... Well... Then it's only OK. :) Street of Rogue is sooooo good. And while the footage showed mostly shooting action, there's sooooo much more than that in the game! It's worth a try! Oh, dwarves in RPG are usually toughest of the tough warriors, so they can definitely take care of themselves, but halfings and other hobbit-like races, well... Yeah... xD
@TeaAndFloppyDisks2 күн бұрын
@OldAndNewVideoGames When I was a young warthooooooog! :D I think I'm ready to play Lion. XD Arcade shooters are fun from time to time too. There's a time and mood for those as well. :) I foresee spending a lot of time in Streets of Rogue as soon as I get it. At least I meet the system requirements. Yay! Unless it uses Vulkan... :S I haven't played many RPGs and in those I did, dwarves were the smallest and not exactly known as damage dealers. But I still like to play as a dwarf nonetheless. :)

Hey, i love DOS games, but after working a long shift and i am tired i just cant find a game that is relaxing. We all know DOS games are not easy, but maybe you could make a list of relaxing/somewhat easier DOS games which are perfect if you just want to spend like 15-45 minutes with playing old games after a long day. Thanks if you do!

I can already think of one; Heroes of Might and Magic 2! Very relaxing, turn based gameplay with a wonderful fairytale atmosphere.

I tried Arcanum a while ago but sadly didn't like it at all. You either get swarmed by enemies by trying to play in real time mode or it feels like a horrible slow Fallout clone in turn based. Despite putting a lot of stat points into being able to shoot things, I couldn't shoot things accurately. Crafting felt unrewarding because you can get better weapons by pickpocketing people. And you can CHEAT at pickpocketing people by using fate points, or whatever they were called. A lot of potential but crap execution I would say.
@OldAndNewVideoGames2 күн бұрын
It's one of these games that require a bit of time. But I suppose if you're not into it, you're not into it, and that's that. :)
