I've been listening to you both for years on your various podcasts, this was awesome. I appreciate the input to my question. I started with a goal # in mind at the start of my 12-week mass cycle. I am very happy with my progress, but as a former fat boy, it's always in the back of your mind. I have the unfortunate to hold/store any fat/water around my hips (I also have very wide hips for a male) and lower back, so I ALWAYS notice that first, even though I'm actually lean-ish all elsewhere with some solid definition coming through this cycle. I started at 165 and I am now 178 and my goal was 180 with a week and a half left before my maintenance phase, then my cut for summer. I have ocd and am meticulous with calories and tracking/weighing my food and I have a lot of self-control when it comes to food. I won't make this longer than it needs to be, but I just wanted to say thanks and can't wait to hear more!

I've been training ever since I was a teenager (25+ years) and I've never torn a pec or seriously injured myself. I train hard with heavy weight (for me), and I'm very happy with my progress over the years. I know we're all susceptible to injury and that I could end up eating my words tomorrow, but I don't get the people who talk about their injuries like a badge of honor. Is it supposed to be a reflection of how hard you train? To me, repeatedly opening yourself up to serious injury is problematic and a surefire way to stunt your growth... I always approach exercises with a risk vs. benefit mentality. People often ask me what my max is on bench, for instance, and I honestly couldn't say because that's not an important number to me. I could load the bar to the point of failure to find out, but the risk of injuring my shoulder at 43 years-old is greater than the benefit of bragging about how much weight I can push off my chest.

Is there anyone else who can’t relate to “not being able to gain weight or having trouble eating enough”? I feel like I can eat and gain forever with no problems.

There’s gaining weight, and then there’s gaining muscle. I think it’s semantics but it’s definitely muscle that is hard to gain. That’s what they’re actually talking about. Pushing those high quality foods to fuel an ever growing body. It does get tough especially the first time you hit a new body weight. The first time I hit 250lb it was ridiculously hard. Drinking two weight gainers during the night, and so on. You’re literally upgrading your body when you gain muscle. Gaining fat is just storing excess calories. The scale goes up with both but the actual processes are very different.

"How to easily gain weight !" I never thought this is a problem in modern society lol.

For most people it seems silly and they’re not able to wrap their head around it. But there’s a percent of people, including myself, who naturally have very low appetites. Nothing to do with our metabolism as some people like to say. I just don’t think about or crave food nearly as much as your average person. I almost always have to try to finish a meal, if I even do. And cutting (the very few times I’ve needed to) has been extremely easy. I’ve lost 25lbs since the holidays with next to no effort. It’s so easy for me to eat under 2000cals and not think twice
