I would recommend greasing any grease zerks on there. Also, flush the whole coolant system until it runs clear before changing coolant types. Dexcool and the green coolant will create a mud/gel mixture

Before you do anything else. Drain and flush the coolant immediately. You MUST get all green/blue antifreeze out before pouring in dexcool. It will clog up the system and radiator in no time if you dont. Thats one of the reasons dexcool sometimes is called dexkill..

Great video, Jimmy! You won't break a Kubota tractor, not even with a sledgehammer. Wix is an excellent filter manufacturer, they also make filters for Napa. Flush out the cooling system well if you are changing coolant types. Enjoy the tractor, it will serve you well, and thanks again for this video!

@@1RoadGarage no worries dude, I am just outside Clarksville, TN and have had a few tractors and have two now. Hydraulics are great back savers as well as useful tools but contaminated fluid can cost thousands in parts replacement as well as greatly reduced performance. Just a thought?

Used to work on a farm in Orford, NH. One time a big thunder storm rolled in when I was out turning hay on the lower field with the old John Deere ( as in old in the early '70s). I put it in sixth gear or whatever high gear was and nearly crashed before getting stopped. I think it was highway gear.

Jimmy, I believe those front tires were on the correct side before you swapped them side to side, they were just on 180 deg from where they should have been. Tractors can be very dangerous! With the front wheels turned around you would have wider stance. Check the tires pressure and wheel lug nut torque often please, (don’t want to see you get hurt!). I doubt those flat washers and lock washers are supposed to be there.
@1RoadGarage3 жыл бұрын

Nice little tractor! I didn't see a second video, so I really hope you heeded the advice others gave and completely flushed that coolant. I have not had great luck converting old "green" engines / radiators over to Dexkill. I hope you have better luck, it would be a shame if it sludged up on you. Also grease all the zerks and change the hydro fluid, and fuel filters would be recommended too. One other thing, I'd flip those tires so they are wider for a more stable stance, somebody turned them around to make them more narrow (and added washers to compensate for the rims being on backwards). On combines we always flipped the tires around like that because it was harder to get yourself buried, and easier to get yourself out of bad situations if you were working in wet conditions. Those Kubota's are stout little tractors for sure. :)

Should have just turned the wheels around and they would stick out even with the back tires, makes it safer from roll over. After filling radiator leave cap off let the coolant get warm and burp it by pushing gas pedal quickly several times and that will work the air out. Change trans fluid and screen.

@@1RoadGarage The reason manufacturers do not recommend it is liability; i.e. - the budget tire shop that just impacts every lug on without due care. For people who use a torque wrench, overtorquing scenarios are grossly exaggerated. Wet torque/dry torque figures are usually within 20% of each other - far less than the multiple you'd need to overtighten a fastener to actually start doing damage by overtightening. If the choice is between galling threads on already heavily rusted/corroded studs or using a small amount of anti-seize, I know what I'm choosing. Just be smart and keep it on the threads, off the mating faces, and stick to consistent torque values.

Flip your wheels around for a wider, normal stance. Safer on hills. Someone turned the front tires/wheels around, this is why the tread was reversed. Should have just flipped the wheels instead of rotating them. The wheel dish should face out. It can face in to give a narrower stance for clearance or row crops, etc. Same with the back, but they haven't been messed with
