Great video! When I first arrive in the U.S. in May, 1958 I was a mechanic on Bedford Avenue here in Brooklyn, New York. I had a businessman who had a '57 Mercury Monterey 4dr Sedan. I work on that for 4 year taking care that car until I enlisted in U.S. Army in June, 1962. You brought back soon very good memories. Take care of yourself!

THAT WAS A FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! I love the revival stuff that you guys do, but to have Angus get that car back on the road and have the man that loves that car behind the wheel is super special. It's awesome when you guys revive something, but when you're able to put someone back behind the wheel of a car that they really love it just takes it to another level. Awesome car. Awesome revival. Awesome story. They don't all have to be hard. Great work.

What a beautiful old gem that is. Lucky guy to still have that in his possession. Amazing how quick and easy it started then run like new. I would replace the headliner and do like you said and keep washing and buffing that residue out of it wax it and let it be. And drive it some and enter it in parades and local car shows. Quite the conversation piece 👌 Great job

I always carry a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a thin cotton rag with me when I work on cars with points. Put alcohol on the corner of the rag, open up the points, slide the wet corner between the points and close the points on the rag and pull the rag out. You should now have clean points. It may take more than one cleaning and the alcohol evaporates immediately!

It's always good to see Angus and seeing an old 50's Mercury was even better. Just remember that the old steering bushings and front end rubbers tend to perish, hence why it handles like a boat. That might be something for Angus to show us by working on the steering and how to tighten them up so they steer better!

I think that that ‘57 Mercury is a true classic. The long rear deck is fabulous. The continental helps for sure, but the fender skirts do more for its great look. The 312 engine was and is great. I have not been a Ford enthusiast; I was a GM enthusiast in the 1060’s - my high school years. However, this ’57 Mercury, 4 door hard top, with the popular 50’s Ford pink roof, is wonderful. Thanks for resurrecting it and may the owner enjoy it for years to come.

My parents had a 57 Mercury. Bought new in California. Showy Red and White. But, our was a different model than this. Our hood did not open like that, our back wings were totally different , we did not have button transmition and our front sets were separate and had a arm rest between. Which I would sit on as a toddler. No seat beats were required back then. We had that thing for 18 years until my brother wrecked it. We had a wood board under the back of the drivers seat to keep it propped up. The Naugahyde was still in perfect shape until the end. We took so many camping trips in ours.

You so comfortably built a rapport with this gentleman, allowing him to share that oh-so-cool Merc's story (was it lowered in the back???). When I was a kid I spent many weekends and summers on my foster grandmother's farm. She never had a car so when sunday rolled around a neighbor came and took us to church. For as long as I can remember the neighbor drove a Mercury sedan, NEVER a Ford, even tho the Mercury was usually towards the middle of the line trim wise. I seem to remember that over the years there were several successive cars, maybe a new one every 3 years. And certainly none were flashy like this 57. Aside from the Continental kit, what I find fascinating about this car is the line of the rear door cutout. For starters, it puts the outside rear door handle BEHIND the rearmost edge of the rear side window. Then the cutline is under the roof support, yet seems to be that way to allow a near unobstructed opening to the rear seat.
